How To Catch Minnows Through The Ice: Lake Simcoe

- After filming the lake Simcoe ice report on March 13, I noticed the shiners were schooling under the ice close to shore, making them very easy to catch. These shiners will make for great perch and pike bait as the ice fishing season is almost over on lake Simcoe.

What street is that?
I'm sure they are up shallow to avoid predators. How often do you see a perch cruising in 6 inches of water? Haha
yes your probably right about them trying to avoid predators by going shallow but it seems like a great effort and i'm thinking there must be another reason. not exactly sure what it is but maybe they like the extra oxygen in the water caused by the melting ice near shore.
@@fivefishlimit1034 yeah that definitely seems like another good reason
Are they their like that all winter
The only time i've seen them close to shore like that is during the late season when the ice melts.
Go pro looks really good
Thanks, just got the hero 7 I’m still kinda nervous to submerge it without the water prof case that’s why the audio is bad otherwise I’m really happy with the way the videos turn out and I think it’s gonna be really helpful for future vids
Lol just realized who it was
How much ice is out On Simao because I haven’t got out there on the ice yet
Lake simco I mean
Not simac
it's not great we have about 5.5" of big bay point as of sunday. This week we are expecting many warm days with lots of wind and possibly some rain too. the warm weather will likely break up most of the ice on simcoe, and I wouldn't be surprised to see open water next week off Big Bay Point.
Ok thanks
To bad the ice is not that safe as it was literally a month ago I went out and it was 12 inches now I feel like ice fishing is almost over for southern Ontario
it's sad to see a great year of ice fishing come to an end
@@fivefishlimit1034 I agree but hopefully we get a good year for fishing
I’m your newest fan!
