Between 14"-18" of ice. the ice hover was covered with pressure cracks and I'd advise everyone to bring a spud bar on their way out. Ice Fishing For Pike In Ontario

With the warm weather, lake Simcoe is still open water so we decided to take our chances somewhere else. The lake we went to was small and can't handle high pressure like Simcoe so I will not name it. The fishing was similar to Simcoe with pike hitting everything from slab grabbers to old a fashion jig and minnows. At the end of the day, we caught 10 Pike and had a great time. tags: Lake Simcoe...

      Sorry for the late reply i missed the comment, but to answer your questions I’ve never fished east lake I’ve fished west just the one time in the tournament and the bite was on, every caught fish, not big ones but the quantity was there which made it fun. East is small and if your not catching stuff by noon you can always switch and launch at west would only take like 30mins best of luck!!

    I'm pretty sure these gentlemen are retrieving the gear. There was a post in a icefishin group on Facebook where someone posted about retrieving gear and saying if you can describe it to come get it. Kudos on the men doing someone a favor but the simple fact there was a landing net and hand auger shows that the people who own the gear arent experienced ice fishers. A net wont fit down a augered hole unless theres multiple holes side by side and you sure as heck wont be doing that by hand

    • @biancalazzarino2749
      @biancalazzarino2749 3 года назад

      The auger was connected to a drill, pretty nifty lol and I think the net was brought incase something fell in the water while retrieving the gear.

    • @dirtdigger75
      @dirtdigger75 3 года назад

      That might be but I've fished that lake for 40 yrs. When theres large gaps of open water from wide cracks and a hard wind coming offshore the ice moves closing up those gaps piling ice leaving the shoreline wide open. Inexperience indeed

      @@Marcus_Federico of course last weekend was very windy on the Friday. Saturday was windy and Sunday the wind was very calm until late afternoon. The temps that weekend was very much colder to point the ice was still freezing and pushing layers against layers. However leading up to the rescue I would never even think about going out especially on windy day and even if there wasn't any wind I would not go out. Got to respect the weather conditions because it would come back to bite you. Blue ice report is very focus on your safety they were probably looking out for your best interests. The problem with ice fishing is people may lack knowledge about safety and conditions. Without knowledge you lack wisdom. Some day who knows there just might be a course on ice safety and if you do not complete the course you cannot go out ice fishing just like a boat licence. There are some people out there that do not even know what ice picks are because I know this because they ask me what is that hanging around your neck?
