  • This 18'3" stitch-and-glue wherry was designed for serious rowers who want to carry camping gear or who row in rough conditions. The boat has a payload of over 400lbs, with four separate watertight compartments providing reserve buoyancy and secure storage. A passenger may be carried. An excellent training wherry or fast beach-cruiser for anyone who loves rowing. Ideal for first-time boatbuilders! Lots more photos, drawings, and information at www.clcboats.com/expedition

I was able to test this boat at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Show and it was exactly what I was looking for so later ordered a kit. Nearly 10-years later the result of that build has been all over the west coast including Baja/Sea of Cortez, plus numerous lakes and rivers of the NW and SW, Puget Sound, the Gulf Islands and the Keys. It has endured all that with the only issues being wear. Great boat and built properly will give back years of service.

John, you're the Eveready Wabbit, you just keep going on and on designing beautiful boats with excellent features which meet real world conditions. Congratulations again.

Beautiful boat! Reminds me of the 1980s Alden Ocean Shell that I got to try out, back in the day.

This would be great if it had option for sails and use with double paddles. Looking for a yak like this that allows me to easily get in and out when spearfishing / snorkeling in remote rocky shore but also able to use for sailing adventure.

Perhaps an Anderson bailer would be a good idea for sea use. Self-draining underway :)

First time I saw a rowing setup where one's hands cross one over the other.
