- Intended for rec-racing, workouts, or ocean rowing, the Chesapeake Light Craft Oxford Shell II is 20’10” long and 21” wide (6.35m x 53cm). It weighs 40 pounds (18.2kg). The Oxford Shell II is pitched a bit more towards speed and performance compared to the original Oxford Shell, which was designed in 1996 and built in enormous numbers
Taking full advantage of wood-epoxy composite techniques, we have created a sophisticated and organic hull shape. Instead of using a drop-in sliding seat, the riggers and sliding seat are integral. Four toggle clamps release the WinTech riggers in seconds for easy transportation and storage. With computer-cut "slot-together" parts and an extremely detailed assembly manual, the Oxford Shell II is suitable for first-time boatbuilders.

Another beautiful boat folks!
Cool looking shell
I'd put aerodynamic lightweight mirrors on mine. Being from waaayyy down South I never fully understood these but I can see the tremendous exercise you could have with these.
John D bicycle mirrors might work
Very nice.
I want one or four of these!
Two questions: 1. Are rowing events divided by true racing shell and recreational shell? And 2. Do you think the movie The Boys In The Boat will ever get made?
This comment is about 4 years late but hopefully it finds you or another well. I rowed competitively in high school at a pretty decent club. Aside from a few invitationals and scrimmages all of our events were under the authority of USRowing. Races were divided by boat type (1x, 2x, 2+, 8+ et.c). For each category of boat, minimum weight standards are set, if a boat was under weight at weigh in additional weight would be added, usually in the form of weighted sandbags. If you wanted to row a more stable boat in your event, that usually comes at the cost of weight. I've never heard of a boat being turned away because it was a recreational shell in a racing event, however there are other equipment rules and regulations that may disqualify a boat from competition. If you want to learn more I'd suggest looking at the most recent publication of USRowing's "Rules of Rowing".
I don't think they'll make a Boys in the Boat movie but I'd watch!
Aged poorly 😊
I wanted to take a rowing class to try a boat like this, but then COVID-19 happened.
How much does it cost
It's beautiful, how much would materials cost for this to do on your own? Thank you, God bless, Jesus saves!
