Can you delete a message in ios 15 and find it in ios 16?
As an ex-Apple retail employee, this feature is much appreciated. 🙏 Y’all are saving a lot of folks a TON of headaches.
Sucks that you can’t see the deleted messages only. Sometimes only a handful of messages are deleted in different parts of a conversation, so it would be convenient to see just the deleted ones rather than throwing them back into the existing conversation without seeing what was deleted in the first place.

What do you do when it doesn’t show up on messages after you recover?
If you’re using this for the same reason that i am… they’re cheating. Dont even look itll make it worse. Try to talk to them about it, say you saw the deleted messages and this is their opportunity to own up and leave it at that. Your next move is on you. Ive been through it too many times believe me its better not knowing. It haunts me to this day. 8 years for that specific situation and many more from other recent relationships. Dont look.

If you can’t update to iOS 16, recovering messages may be limited to restoring a backup. However, if you’re using Messages in iCloud and you deleted them, they are no longer recoverable.

Great question! If your Messages window says “Filters” instead of “Edit” on the top left, it means you’ve already enabled Message Filtering. Tap Filter and choose Show Recently Deleted.
Keep in mind you can only recover messages that you deleted within the last 30 to 40 days, and only messages that were deleted after you updated to iOS 16.

Thanks for reaching out to us. The ability to recover deleted messages is a built-in feature of iOS 16. You will see the tab in the Messages app regardless of having deleted messages or not. Get more info on that here: s.apple.com/dw4b7o6Gc4
Also, you can only recover deleted messages on the device itself. You cannot retrieve messages deleted in iCloud.

Deleted messages will only show if you deleted a message. If you deleted them from Recently Deleted also, then they are gone and that folder may not show if no other messages are there.

It’ll be better to keep Done in the bottom too just like Recover and Delete. Please make them easily accessible with even one hand, in every application. It’ll be better to keep those all clickable things at the bottom, just like you redesigned the lock screen notifications in iOS 16. Please develop these to let the users don’t have to reach to the top of the screen every time. For example, imagine if you get a call pop-up on the top of your screen, it’s not easily accessible with one hand while holding the phone firmly. So it’s better to move that type of things to the bottom. I hope it’ll workout well if you check this out and work on it. Happy for being an iPhone user and thank you.
Can someone remove the show deleted button?
I was clearing out my messages, and I fully deleted all the chats, but now whenever I get the notification that someone texted in the group chat since I am still in it, it will not allow me to send a message and I had to make a new group cchat. Is there a way to fix it

If somebody took the “show recently deleted” icon off of the “edit” screen, how do you get the “show recently deleted” messages back?

Happy to help. If you’re not seeing Show Recently Deleted, you may not have any recently deleted Messages threads. Items only stay there for about 30 days, so if it’s been longer than that, or if they were deleted prior to installing iOS 16, that could be why you aren’t seeing them. You can test this by creating a new thread, and then deleting it to see if the setting appears.

Hi there. You’d only be able to recover deleted content if you have a backup in iTunes from when the deleted content was intact on your device. If there isn’t a backup available and the content isn’t in Recently Deleted, there would be no way to restore it. See: s.apple.com/dE4W9p7E4w

I just updated to IOS 16.1.2 and I’m trying to recover deleted conversation and messages from someone and I don’t see the Edit option in the top left, it just shows filters for all my messages
