The normal one sounds better to my ears than the Sovtek. The Sovtek does a couple of settings better - but they're not settings I'd really use - so it's just as well I bought the normal one about a year ago. Run it with an expression pedal for fuzz-wah!
The Sovtek is: a Green Russian, a Black Russian and a Civil War in one enclosure. I dare say you could get almost any other Muff sound in it as well...
The deluxe is waaaaaaaaay better than the warlow or the hizumitas. Just waaaaaay more flexible and probably capable of producing very similar sounds to both of the others. It's harder to decide between the sovtek deluxe or the NYC deluxe. The best muff pedal of all time though? Probably the Pharaoh Supreme. Long. Live. The. Pharaoh. The. Pharaoh. Is. Supreme.
So...if EHX claims that the American Deluxe BM can recreate all the versions previousy made, what's the point of making ANOTHER ONE just for the Sovteks? Maybe it is a marketing thing or just simply a well made commercial tactic for to confuse us. I dont know, ut the american likes me the most.
I think it's because the American one can do most of the other American made muffs convincingly, plus more. It probably doesn't do the Russian muffs quite as well. Though I doubt it. Probably can do those as well.
The point for the Sovtek is that it's an improved reissue of the Civil War Muff from the early 90's, the one Matt Pike used on Dopesmoker. Originals are worth hundreds if not over a thousand bucks on the used/vintage market. The reissue is $174 plus tax.
Here we go! Deluxe vs Deluxe. Let us know what's your favorite.
Deluxe!
@@SergeiVlassov Soviet sounds smoother - I think I enjoy the sound a bit better.
@@silvel2edge yes, I prefer more open tone of the Deluxe. I bought one recently.
This demo is perfect, but it’s also making my decision even more difficult. I think I prefer the sound of the US, but that blend feature is SO cool!
Came back to listen again with good headphones. As much as I dig that blend feature, I just consistently like the sound of the regular deluxe better.
Good video. I want the Sovtek because of the blend knob, but now I think I'd prefer it regardless.
The 'Blend' on the Sovtek is a hoge plus for me! I have the Sovtek and love it. Victor...
I remember deciding between these two. Ended up going for the American one, even if I really liked the blend knob
We As A Company pedal comparison video? Hitting "like" before I even watch it, cause I already know. 😎👍
love this demo, I'm a Sovtec guy, but this deluxe BM is very good, great dark sounds... love the bass boost... so powerful
Sovtek Deluxe, no question.
Sounds like they intersect enough in tone that either should do the job. Just the NYC is a more compressed by a bit.
Damn... I was trying to choose between the two, but it seems I need (want) both :)

got the sovtek version because it looked better haha, love it tho
Great job Bro!!!! 🎛👌
Man EHX makes cool stuff.
I like the sovtek version more. The black one sounds much more compressed / saturated and more scooped, and the lows are too boomy for my taste.
I wonder if it's possible to make the duluxe big muff sound like other big muffs?
You can make it sound like any of them.

Muffs are one of the most exacerbated forms of distortion. If you’re so picky about your muff sound just buy the ones you want and use them.
@@simaojosephnever!!! One to rule them all! Just one! Blaaaah!
I think I prefer the Sovtek (esp. with the blending option), but I know the American one has a great 'attack', is that also doable on the Sovtek?
Another great video - thanks guys! I know you’re into your muffs 😉 so what’s the one muff to rule them all then? The Warlow? Hizumitas? Deluxe??

For me, the question is: What will get me the closest to David Gilmour's tone for The Wall and Final Cut?
love this video, what's the killer riff btw
Just random riffing.
Great ear!
Good job
Never seen someone play guitar with rubber gloves...
The new york can do all Sovtek could even better more body, more gain range, better for Detuned guitars
Why the gloves??
sovtek blend nob gang rise up
Just buy the nano green Big Muff Silly People !
the nano BASS !
What is up with the gloves? Are you a gynecologist?
I was just going to ask that!
No glove, no love
Hands can look kinda gross on close up videos
If you're gonna fiddle with a couple of big Muffs you don't wanna get cross contamination. Especially as one is a Russian.
This is a scientific experiment. Standard safety precaution with dangerous equipment.
Buy both so noone feels lonely...except your purse
