see that's all it matters is taking care of it, Im at 138,000 now with my 2013, still have same battery since I got it, radiator hose cracked replaced last year, thermostat housing/thermostat replaced twice, and even the gascap, yes they wear out too.
Mines an 08 with 243,000 miles still runs great I use it to travel for work, but I changed the battery, alternator, starter, and rotors since i got a lot of miles, no reason for them to be changed but I figured if I keep those items new the car should last longer and indeed it has
"I have a 2014 Dodge Avenger"!! I love it.. But why cancelled the Avenger for the Dodge Dart?🤔 Avenger could have lasted another 2-3 years, Avenger is better than the Dart!!💯
Dunte Enterprise right!!! I have an avenger it has 204,000 yesss 204,000 miles!!! By the grace of God my car is still running great!!!!!!!!! I’m grateful for my avenger
all i know is that my 2012 Dodge Avenger "Darknight" saved my life after that horrific accident that happenend, She didnt make it but glod bless her soul.
I have a 2008 avenger. I've had it for almost 6 yrs and it has over 200,000 miles. I can honestly say that aside from a couple alternator issues, mechanically this car has been extremely reliable. The high mileage is mainly due to my 1hr both ways commute. Knock on wood, but my car is still going strong today.
@@MG-lz5nw Always change the oil when it should be changed. Always change the air filter when it should be changed. Change the air filter INSIDE the car, too. Make sure there isn't anything clogging up the air vents outside of the car. Lots of tree leaves and nuts can fall on them. They are right there at the bottom of the windshield. Flush radiator. If AC/Heat is not working properly, you might need a new blend door actuator. There are three of them. Look up videos for that. There are tons of videos on youtube about the Dodge Avenger for practically everything. Also, if you are looking for parts, websites like RockAuto might help?
Have 2011 Dodge Avenger 3.6 Lux, got it in 2012 @ 17K miles. Took care of the car like a baby and today 4/23 clocked in 180,000 miles and running strong!
I always wondered why my alcoholic uncle bought one of these things... Until now, this vid enlightened me! He bought it for the "chill zone" built in cooler didn't he!
Funny how the 3rd Gen Avengers don't have the 'chill zones' like in the 2nd Gen. I bought a 2012 sxt plus last year with only 48,671 total miles. Love its Pentastar V6 and 6 speed automatic. I also love the looks of it including its side decals which I believe is rare for these cars. Best part is the price tag under $10k, worst part is it drives like a Ford Escort but with torque that even surpasses my 74' 351 V8 Ranchero.
I had an Avenger until I bought my Challenger. It was a great car that was fun and utilitarian. If I hadn't been in a wreck (She was totaled) I would have kept her. To think Dodge canceled that car for that Dart wanna-be they shit out...
@@ljack5519 in the 6 years I've had it, I've replaced the brakes once, and all 4 tires twice (I live in Detroit where the winters are bad)... That's it... Still runs great, still looks great, still sounds great... Regular maintenance (Oil changes, tune ups, etc) keeps it like that... So yes, for me, it has and is very reliable...
Be careful. Mine is a 2013 got it when it was new and currently has 56,000 miles and this year I had to replace the battery (and you have to take off the drivers side wheel. It’s a pain), a new alternator, a new throttle body, new air filter, new brake pads and now I have to get a new air intake sensor which is the least amount of money I’ve had to spend this year on it.
bought one last year too. be careful bro. i’ve had to replace the tipm TWICE. first the car was shutting off randomly and the horns would go off for no reason. now the wipers are going berserk
I just bought a 2011 Dodge Avenger and I saw this video and was worried but after watching I still love my car so thank you for renewing my faith in my car haha
This is my first car, I’m so sad they cancelled it bc I’m literally in love with it. I really do hope they find a way to bring it back. Honestly one of the best dodges in my opinion.
How they chose the Dart over the Avenger I will never understand. My '14 is around 80k miles and I'm trying to decide whether to sell it before 100k or keep it longer term. I've been leaning towards keeping it longer term and your video has me leaning even more in that direction :)
It was sacrificed towards use of Alfa's platform, on which Dart was based. Few years earlier, the Fiat management also cut-out the Caliber and Nitro / Liberty.
I have a 2008 SXT and I absolutely love it. No issues (minus the super common throttle body issue), and it is very reliable. I had a suspicion there was really no "real" reason for it to be cancelled - glad to see you share a similar opinion. Great vid!
Honestly one of the best looking cars dodge has made in recent years I'd like to see it come back and be given the same 300 hp 3.6L v6 that the charger uses
The Dart and 200 were discontinued a couple years after. The irony, they discontinue the better looking compact and fail to sell the worse looking compacts, killing off all of Chrysler’s compacts. Now they got the Fiat 500, which we don’t talk about..
Bought a 2012 9 years ago and runs great. Only had to replace the transmission at 198k miles, the battery twice and the alternator. I don't regret buying it
I have an RT 3.5L in pearl blue, I've been stopped at the gas station to ask about the car. I would NEVER recommend this piece of junk to anyone. It is the worst car to work on and the weirdest things go wrong with this car with no warnings. This car has convinced me not to ever buy a Dodge again.
I've been driving a 2013 model for 6 years with 0 complaints. I love the car, only issue is that the flow valve on the AC clicks when adjusting, but still works.
It was ok car, a lot of them were fleet sales, and they lost a lot of value and now you can take one of them in decent shape under 6-7 k. But the dodge line up today is very old, the dart which is the last new product that they presented, is gone, the avenger gone, viper gone, RAM went for their own brand , the charger and challenger keep selling pretty good and survive thanks to numerous upgrades. Durango most likely will be substituted by a Jeep 3 row, and the journey and the caravan are extremely old and not sure if a new generation will come for them. Again I believe FCA should make some new models for dodge to revive this brand.
The Charger & Challenger have been consistently revised- first the LX Charger's 2nd generation came in 2011: it was for all intents a new vehicle. All-new exterior design, all-new interior design with materials, and fit & finish lightyears ahead of the 06-10 models. The platform underwent major revision, most notable was the revised suspension eliminating most of the shortcomings of the first-gen LX Charger, as well as the use of 35% more high-strength steel resulting in nearly a 30% stiffer chassis. It's immediately obvious when driving a 2011 back-to-back with a 2010. Then the all-new 3.6 V6 debuted in the 2011 Charger- it was a gem compared to the 3.5 it replaced. Eager to rev, and sounding great doing so. Yes the Challenger soldiered on a bit longer- getting it's major redesign in 2015. While the Challenger didn't get all-new sheet metal, it DID get revised front & rear fascias, dramatically cleaning up the look of the car. However, it did get just as much a complete revision underneath just like Charger did. Stiffer chassis, improved suspensions, and alteration to allow for the longer 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Both Charger & Challenger were stiffened to accommodate the Hellcat engine first and foremost. This benefited all models however. The Charger & Challenger continue to sell well because they're kept fresh, and they have no direct competition. They are unusual in the respect that they are cars that sell well- when all other domestic automakers have given up on cars. The Koreans, Japanese, Germans, etc- continue to make cars that sell well. GM & Ford didn't build any cars that were worth looking at outside of high performance cars; even then the 4-doors were bland looking- the rest of the cars were boring, stodgy, uninspired FWD knock-offs of Accord & Camry... Dodge also has the WK2 based Durango- which has enjoyed all the updates that it's Grand Cherokee sibling has received- less a trackhawk equivalent- but there's still time. Durango/Grand Cherokee was an all-new platform in 2011- The first all new product released after bankruptcy. They were game changers for Chrysler, As it showed what could be given a little investment. Now I'm aware that the WK2 was co-developed with Mercedes, used Mercedes interior components at launch, etc- (which would've never been allowed had it still been Daimler Chrysler) - hell Mercedes was withholding transmissions, interior components, etc- trying to force Chrysler to change the interior. Chrysler did not relent, the two sides settled, and Mercedes redesigned THEIR interior to differentiate the products between Grand Cherokee/Durango, and Mercedes W166 (ML 250, ML63 AMG, etc.) Mercedes still produces their ML's on this platform for 2019 model year, as as they've revised this platform just as FCA has for Jeep/Dodge. Not considered old by any stretch- this is still a cutting edge platform even by Mercedes standards. Avenger is gone, Dart is gone, and for good reason. FCA dropped the ball with Dart- underpowered, no good cutting-edge automatics- just a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed auto, or the DDCT for the 1.4 turbo. This car would've been a hit had there been horsepower to match the handling. It needed at LEAST 250 hp, with 300 hp in an SRT trim. 9-speed auto would've given it the edge in fuel economy that it needed. Oh well, missed opportunity. Dodge is quietly preparing a Journey replacement; a proper RWD-biased muscle-crossover. That said, the current Journey has sold exceptionally well since it's 2011 emergency refresh after bankruptcy. Its sales increased substantially after the interior was replaced with something much nicer, the addition of the 3.6 Pentastar, and just a few tasteful exterior tweaks took this vehicle from an ugly outlier, to a great performer, and a fierce competitor in the segment. It's truly an example of what rampant cost-cutting can do to a product- we just rarely ever get to see a vehicle re-engineered to correct what cost-cutting damaged. Journey is that shining example. Now I've left the Chrysler 300 out of this, as well as the 200- everyone is aware of those vehicles back stories. My original point is- aside from Journey, the Dodge lineup is current in every way that matters. Just because Dodge hasn't scrapped every model and started over with a clean-sheet design doesn't mean the products are old. Updating platforms to keep them current, iron-out flaws over time results in a far better product. Designing new products always introduce short-comings that are corrected by revision over a model year, or two. But a continual improvement is just as well for automobiles. This is the one manufacturing industry where it's seemingly a bad thing is a vehicle is more than a few years old- even IF the original design has been re-engineered to update, make an overall better product. I run a medical manufacturing company, we use Swiss-Style CNC machines- which are made in Japan. One brand new 20mm machine cost us $260,000 USD, in 2018- and this machine is cutting-edge; however its platform has its roots in 1995, when it first hit the market. The same basic structure exists today, with any major changes occurring when there was any significant advancement in technology. So these machines resemble what was available in 1995, BUT the design has been perfected, streamlined- computer tech has changed dramatically since 1995- but I would never THINK of calling this machine old, nor would I not purchase it unless it was completely redesigned from the ground up every 4 years. I purposely bought the machine because it is a proven, reliable design- but also packing today's cutting edge tech. The machine is faster in every way. Its motors, and ballscrews last 3 times long- because it's been continually improved. Now at some point, the methods on how they build the machine bed may change, or the alloy technology may dramatically improve. If that were to happen, then this CNC machine would be redesigned from the ground up, employing all the new technology that was not available when this original chassis was designed in 1995. My point with this exercise is metallurgy, suspension technology, manufacturing techniques, and govt. Safety regulations haven't changed since 2011; a clean-sheet design for Dodge vehicles is a pointless, expensive endeavor. FCA keeps the platforms current as-is, and requires minimal investment- which equals maximum returns on the sales side. The byproduct of this is more dependable vehicles overall. Yikes that's a TON of writing.
Alan Sasek I see your point and I agree with you, but beside charger and challenger the other models are old. You get a Journey and the 4cylinder still have a 4speed transmission, too obsolete. Even the interiors of you compare to anything else in the segment is more modern. The caravan than is a good option for big family with not a big budget or for fleet sales, it gets the job done, so I don’t mind if they keep the same design for more years keeping refreshing it. But dodge definitely needs a couple of new crossover, the side of the compass , to attract young buyer and something bigger, like a Chevy Blazer or Nissan Murano. But as right now FCA is totally focused on Jeep and Ram brands, the ones who make profit
Alan Sasek: What you wrote concerning the Dart is sooooooo true. Chrysler blew it. The Journey? I don't understand why this vehicle has many haters online. I consider it a fine alternative to others in its class. Some find it to be it a terrible machine. Consumer Reports for example, definitely. The only thing I believe the Journey lacks is more safety tech in tune with its competition. That's why I'm leery in purchasing the Journey in its top of the line version, unfortunately. This may change though. Peace...♐
@@AladdinSaneNYC The Dodge Journey is going on its 10th year without a redesign, which is unheard of. The steering wheel even still has the old Dodge logo. That's how long it's been since they retouched it. In today's competitive market of SUVs there is no excuse for such an outdated vehicle
Dodge Stealth (Coupe) 1990-1996 Dodge Avenger (Coupe)1995-2000 Dodge Stratus (Coupe)2001-2006 These Cars Pretty Much Were The Same Thing🤷🏿♂️They Only Shared The Mitsubishi Platform❗️
The stealth was a rebadged Mitsubishi 3000gt. The rt twin turbo was the 3000gt vr4 but I don't think the stealth had the all wheel steering the vr4 did.
The Mitsubishi versions, 3kgt, 2g eclipse platform and 3g eclipse are actually all very different cars. The stealth was very performance oriented, boasting the twin turbo 6g72 with nearly 300 bhp, and AWD. Whereas the highest option avenger RT came with the 4 speed auto 2.5 v6 (eh). The only way to get a manual was to get the 140 hp 420a motor (shared with lower optioned eclipses). Not too spunky, but goos om gas. I actually owned one of these. The startus that appeared in early 2000s was only similar in the coupe version, which had the 6g72, a 3 liter v6 with 200 hp. Those were okay, but the sedans shared dofferent chassis amd drivetrain components. Between the cars, they were all very diffrent. The stealth was definitely the best drivers car, and most expensive. But ask anyone, the difference betweem a 2g and 3g eclipse iis is striking. But you could get 2gs with a turbo 4 cyl and manual, the late 90s avenger was not as performance orientated, most likely because of the individual brand goals.
@djevan 41598 The Eclipse/Talon were based on the Galant, so you aren't incorrect. The 95-2000 Avenger was closely related to the FWD 2G DSM, using the same 2.0l I4 (Same as the Neon). The Stealth/3KGT was based on the Diamante, which was a stretched Galant.
@@hunni_bunni I've driven the cruze and like its pick-up and decent handling. Concern about durability from public reports. Experienced a faulty oil plug which is super easy to strip. If it were to be durable, I think it would make a fine car to own.
I'm at 32k with a year and a half on my 17 cruze, no problems with it, even though I ran a ditch( showing off on dirt road) although I do hate the auto stop... i probably wont keep it past warranty
Right now on the used market there's a few important things to note. A top end Avenger will run you about the same cost as an early V6 Charger. Basically you can choose between the top end Baby Charger or the low end real Charger. I skipped both and went with a 300C instead, which is basically a Charger RT with comfier seats, but for $2-4K less and lower insurance cost.
I really miss seeing the 90's Dodge Avengers. They're practically extinct here in Michigan. I haven't seen one in about a year. It's definitely my favorite 90's dodge car.
I test drove an R/T just to be a jerk to the salesman running his mouth about it's performance. My idiot self loved the power and performance and ended up driving it home.
The zombie status might have to do with fleet/rental sales. Very similar to how Enterprise/National was still getting old Impalas even after the new one was introduced in 2014. There might be back stock somewhere in a rental or airport lot and purchase orders are delayed until the cars are put into the fleet, etc etc
I have a 2008 Avenger. I love the car. I did have some issues with the front end (steering) but as soon as it was fixed it was solid. Bought it used with over 200k miles and it’s still running strong.
As usual, a very thorough and interesting review. It's a shame they let this car go for the Dart, because this could have served as the platform for the pony car competitor to the mustang/camaro. Imagine this with beefed up suspension and turbocharged V6, or even a 5.7 hemi? Then slap a "Cuda" badge on it with some retro styling and it would have sold like crazy.
@@buddy8225 I'd disagree. The front of the Avenger especially looks like a car from 2005, not 2015. The entire car was dated from the start, at least the Dart looked a touch more modern.
I have not been a fan of my 2009 Avenger which I've had for about 4 years. I've had problems with the A/C, battery, electrical systems, anti-lock brakes, window regulator, and the engine housing. Not to mention the blindspots are pretty big.
Ashley, you are right about the blindspots on the Avengers due to the narrow back windows. However I've driven tons of American cars with bad blind spots so it's really not anything new. Blind spots became less severe in most cars from the 80s and 90s but they were pretty bad in cars from the 60s and 70s in which Dodge just happened to continue.
I honestly love my 2005 Sebring convertible! I reluctantly acquired it through a death where it sat 5 years. Upon deciding it had more sentimental value than let it go to the shredder, I agreed to take it. It’s been more than loyal than my 84 6.2L diesel powered Chevy... and I’m die hard Chevy guy, and LOVE my truck more than I love my wife who’s effing hot, and cooks, and cleans, and knows her way around her 71 chevelle matching numbers 454 ss better than me!😭 RIP me
Same here bought a white 2010 2.7 with 80,000 miles it died with 145,000 because a mechanic did put the timing chain back on properly.. 2 weeks later I came up on a silver 2008 3.5 Sebring with 30,000 & I love them both..
I always thought these were sharp looking.. they should have put the SRT4 driveline in them, and given them a decent interior, it would have been way better.
I love my 2013 Avenger, it was always so good to me until a month ago, engine gave out completely I miss my car so much. Now I need to find a new engine and get it fixed.

This was my 1st car, I loved it even if I did have a base model. I wondered why they wasnt a SRT4 version 🤔 it wouldn't be that to do so would it?
Wondered why there was never an SRT version of this car considering there was the Neon, RAM, and later the Charger and Challenger SRT-8s and in 2015 the SRT Hellcat. Would've been pretty cool to have, just as a limited production vehicle. It would totally make sense coming up the 2020's since Dodge is upgrading their v6 to an inline 6, they could've had a special edition SRT Twin Turbo Avenger that was a v6 or inline 6 or something among those lines. I've never owned an Avenger or knew anyone else who did, but they look pretty good considering what segment they were in. I'd rather one of those than an Altima of that generation based on looks alone. They also had decent HP and good fuel economy based on which engine you optioned out, so it's a shame that Dodge threw out the Avenger, plus just 2 years later Dodge discontinued the Dart so they lost 2 vehicles.
I have had two Dodge Stratus Dodge Cirrus n now a Avenger n I Love it 2014..... I just turned 50 n I’ve had a lot of cars n Dodge is my choice the Avenger I’ll keep for good..
I have a 2013 3.6 liter Flex Fuel Avenger. Yup, it's got the little "Flex Fuel" badge and everything, although I've read that ALL the V6 Avengers could take E85, which is weird. I've never seen another one on the road, and from my research, I don't think there were many made. I bought it slightly used in 2015 from a dealer who got it as a trade-in, and it's easily the best car I've ever had. All I've had to do besides brakes, tires, etc., is replace the thermostat. I recently upgraded the low-end radio/CD player to a really nice 7" LCD model, and even with the original speakers, it sounds amazing. I can't recommend this car highly enough.
I loved my dodge avenger. Great on gas, just enough power, did well in deep snow, pretty easy to maintain (aside from battery replacement), and it wasn't too fancy. Cars now have all these bells and whistles that make them more expensive and harder to repair.
My 2010 Avenger RT with the 2.4 L motor has 222K+ miles on it and is still going strong. I did have to replace the throttle body and thermostat a few years back but otherwise there have been no major mechanical issues or repairs needed, and I now clean the throttle body about every six months and haven’t had any more problems. I also change the oil and do all other basic maintenance, myself. I’m currently working out of state and drove it 1300 miles to get here, and will drive it the 1300 miles back. I had a 2000 Dakota that was an absolute nightmare and ended up being sold basically for scrap after 10 years or so. But this Avenger has been the most dependable vehicle I’ve ever owned. Crazy how Dodge made both the best and worst vehicles I’ve owned. Changing the battery DOES SUCK. But otherwise I’ve loved it.
I got the 08' just this past september, she's great on gas, tons of trunk space, passenger space-front/back, and love how it looks, I have it in red, the SXT, paid $5 grand licensed, plated... I'll keep her as long as I can; after all; things last when you take care of them.
I'm about to pick up a 2014 Avenger with 78k miles for about $10k. I've always liked how they look. This video gave me a lot to look out for. Thanks for the info and the history! It's pretty cool to own a vehicle that would be considered to be a "zombie car".
Wife has a Navy Blue ‘09 Model with 232k only basic maintenance such as oil change, tires ,alternator and gaskets , still running strong till this day 👍🏾💪🏾
I've got a Red '09. 254k miles on it. The engine and trans are fine. I've had other issues that have happened on it, primarily sensors, and another part, which is well documented, wherein the car check engine light will come on, and the car won't go above 30 MPH. I know what the issue is. I'm working on it to resolve it. Once I fix that, it's back to road ready. I love that car.
Really? I didn't even think of the converter. At one point, I was getting that lightning bolt message on the dash. I replaced the throttle body. I resolved that, but I was getting something else. Took it to Advance to get it scanned, and replaced a sensor. It ran fine for about eight days, and something else happened on the freeway. I barely limped home with it. Got it in the garage. It was misfiring. It was also winter, and I had another vehicle to drive, so it's been in the garage, waiting for better weather. My plugs were fouled, and one smelled of gas, so I replaced that boot, along with all of the plugs. No more misfire, but I get a blinking check engine, when I go above about 2.5k RPM. I'm thinking the sensor I replaced failed. Not sure. I'm going to buy my own scanner, and take it from there.
@@dorian_vlogs my friend has a 2013 with 90k. His done regular maintenance. Car has had a tons of problems. Throttle issues, electrical issues , cheap interior.
The White Triumph I’m looking at a 2008 that I’m interested in buying with 175k miles on it and the seller says it runs great. You have any advice for me???
@Kris Orendorff Damn my 2012 is hitting near 100k miles (it's at about 89k). Would trade it in, but I'm trying to get a house, so I gotta avoid car debt right now.
Bought my 2013 Dodge Avenger in 2015 with 38K mi. Currently (2021) I have 180K mi. Replaced tires, battery, brakes, rotors, hoses, belts, radiator, wiper blades. No major engine problems. My problem is the headlights. They are cloudy looking. Need to have replaced. I love my Venger as I call her.
I drive a '12 Avenger Plus and I am one of the midsize fans having mostly Camaros and Firebirds. A couple of Gran Prix's, etc. Went to the new lot and the one I picked "stood out" to me in the isle's of Chargers, and Challenger's. It looked like the Charger from previous years only flared fenders (basically) and sits with a slight slope giving it the aggressive stance I like. I've had all the tickets to go with my Camaro and Firebird days and not to mention the significant price difference. I was thinking of a nice comfortable car that was economic and the Avenger Plus was just a good choice in March, 2012 and very surprised as it has more than enough power for this old guy. And the best part, I just paid it off early last year ('18) and with under 30,000 mi. (27.8) and garaged... it's still pretty new. I have been car [window] shopping and what happens is would have to trade down and spend 40k+ [min] to do it. The thing is we walk out to look and mine still looks good among the hundreds of new cars out on the lots, so even tho I would like to have a RS or Z28 or a new Bumblebee 🐝 or even the new Genesis, I can't make myself pay 60 thousand for a new car these days. Might pick up a low mileage pre-owned but for now, I think I'll keep my BlackBerry Pearl, (10:25) discontinued, midsize sleeper a while. ✓
I've rented several Caravans, even a few 2019 models with around 3000 miles. They seem alright except for the transmission. Thing doesn't downshift until you're almost flooring it, not a smooth transition at all.
All I can say is that I am 63, have had many different cars over the years from 70's era Corvettes to a Mitsubishi Lancer and you name it from the used car category. So, I've driven plenty of cars from almost every niche except for exotics. Oddly enough, in 2014 when they were putting big dollars on the hood of Avengers to clear out the leftovers, I decided to buy one because of the Pentastar 3.6 V6 engine powering a not-too-heavy sedan. The fact that the factory was putting the better looking trim features on a low cost SE , which made it hard to tell the difference from a higher priced R/T sure didn't hurt. Bottom line? I do believe in the old story that some buyer just get either lucky or unlucky with a particular sample on a particular car. I guess I got lucky. It is powerful, which is fun. It is very quiet in the cabin which surprised me. It is comfortable to sit in (I am large) and it smooths out road defects very nicely. The drivetrain (engine and 6spd trans) works excellent in delivering what you need for any terrain. The engine (which was beefed up a bit and refined by late 2013) has had zero hiccups at 40,000 miles. I love the fact that the Pentastar from that late a model had the perfect technology to deliver great power without being a Frankenstein Experiment in efficiency like all of the current cars are, from low end right up to performance cars: Direct Injection not there...good. All that is good for is clogging up the top of the engine after X miles. Turbocharging not there... because they are by and large "Trouble Waiting To Happen". Cylinder Deactivation not there.... Stupid is as stupid does...... seriously.....or the worst of all new technologies that manufacturers should be hung from a tree for doing : Stop/Start of engines at stop signs, lights, or whatever. In short, it is the best car I've ever owned from about 1972 to the present. The Pentastar 3.6 V6 with Port Injection that cleans the engine and effortlessly produces 283 "Linear" horses in a fairly lighter weight car that looks sporty is and was a choice of the decades. And many many cars that are rated as "excellent choices" are in reality a bucket of finnicky garbage that only looks good on paper. Dig into the nightmares of the owners of recent model Challengers, Camaros, Mustangs, and many other "sporty" cars. You'll find that the newest and latest gas saving technologies are by and large a Joke. An unfunny Joke for those owners.
Dodge Intrepid could of been a dope car to keep. Too many front end issues on my old 97 3.5v6. super quick but true I want to know why it was canceled lol
I have a 2014 Avenger and love it. Only complaint I have about it is the fuel mileage isn't as good as its competitors. Still a great and fun car, I'd buy it again.
Or how about Chevy Cavaliers, Cobalts, Cruzes, Ford Focus, Fiestas, Hyundais and Kias with engines that catch fire.... K cars were actually pretty reliable in their time period. Chrysler products are always hated by anyone who is anti-Chrysler.
DemoMan ; Ford Focus ST3 is a kick Ass car. They are great looking, fast, and Yes Reliable! The problem with that duel clutch slushbox is terrible but if people would learn how to drive a proper MANUAL TRANSMISSION THEN THEY WOULDN’T have this problem. No Automatic Trannie option on the ST. BTW
@@cragkeeper hey jackoff i hope your not including the fiesta ST in that list.......... Its basically a turbocharged intergra type R. @@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo Fiesta ST? Yeah, the early reviews were all saying how great they were - better than a Focus ST, etc.... then the failures started rolling in and the clutch and engines in them were about as good as a small Chevy. Ooops...... also, turbos are just another failed technology that tries to squeeze too much out of a lawnmower engine. Over worked, prone to over heat, and disposable.
I had an 81 Dodge Aires. I had loads of problems with the carburetor, and exhaust emissions on that one. I was black. When I'd wax that car up, it was showroom sharp. I wished it ran like it looked!
15 year old me wanted a red 1st gen Avenger with stick shift, red with silver stripes and a viper style body kit; this was back when 2f2f and NFSU first came out haha. I had a full build sheet filled with random stuff lol.
If they were smart they'd make an srt6 avenger, an srt4 dart, and the srt8s. The dart would be priced less due to less power, then the avenger, and then of course the charger.
I bought my avenger in 2013 and love it. I test drove the dart and hated it. I get sick in smaller cars and the avenger was a perfect size not to small and not to big. So sad they let it go.
@@jmoreno23red I guess you haven't owned each of the models... 2.4 sedan, 2.4 convertible, 3.6 sedan and the 3.6 convertible.... If you have owned them and if you have ANY experience what so ever, you can be talking shit. Otherwise, no.
The second Gen 200 got cancelled for the same reason as the Dart. Low Sales in the segment and FCA focusing now on Xovers and SUV's I own a 2nd Gen 200. It's a great car. A little hard to get into if you're tall, but it's a good ride
I love the Dodge Avenger. I've owned about 20 of them in every possible trim. If I could buy a brand new 12-14 R/T model with the Sun and Sound package, I definitely would!
When I first saw the avenger I did not like the way it looked at all, but now I kind of like it. Its interesting how some cars grow on you over time. Maybe it just has to do with the design language
I drove my 1997 Avenger Sport for 17 Years.. it was 20 years old when given away, it was in perfect driving condition and also had upgraded suspension, wheels, brakes, tires, headlights, the only thing under the hood was a K&N Filter and when it was around 40,000 miles I added Microlon which is a metal protection agent that's used in aircraft engines. Low cost to maintain, never broke down or left me stranded anywhere. It was almost 200,000 miles and 20 years old when given away. I got a 2018 Nissan GTR as its Replacement.
Really enjoyed the video, also enjoyed the one you did on the Dart. Are you planning on doing one about the 200? I love my 2015 200c. The redesigned 2015 - 2017 200 is based off of the Alfa Romeo Gulia. I believe the Dart is as well. I think FCA made a big mistake cancelling the 200. Sure, the old 200 based on the Sebring was kinda a crap car but the redesigned 200 is a great car. It has a very sleek designs that looks European it has a best-in-class entertainment system with uconnect as well as adaptive cruise control. It got a five stars all around crash rating by the national highway institute. when I was looking to buy a new car I was looking at the Toyota Camry the Mazda 6 Ford fusion and Honda Accord and of course the redesign Chrysler 200. Test drove all those cars the Toyota Camry was the most uninspiring hard drive out of the bunch sure it's a Toyota he has great reliability and will probably last you forever but the styling I didn't care for matted I really care for the interior I feel the Chrysler 200 has a really great interior minus getting into the back seat if your tall. I've always been a Mopar guy you know my first car was a Toyota pickup truck set my second car was a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron with a v6 and that thing just hauled.
I looked at a '15 200 with the 3.6, new at the time, to replace my aging 05 Acura TL. It was really nice.. but every car I saw on the lot was loaded as far as it could be, and very expensive, some marked up to $34-36k! I DON'T THINK SO! I looked into ordering 1 the way I wanted it, but found that I had to add on expensive packages full of fluff, just to get the few things I wanted. I passed. Still driving my Acura..
Avenger was really great car for it's time, the redesigned one. The high trim was powerful and affordable. The car also was "wide-body" as standard, similar to Caliber and Journey.
lol true story....the sales men at the Kia dealership i worked at said this when i told them the Avenger was being discontinued..."oh man no! Thats our best selling car!" LOLOLOLOLOL and it was true we sold 6-8 avengers a month used ones of course.
U know its not fun to mane fun of kia anymore, speacillay because they have and keep inproving. They have many different models that sell very well worlwide. Something that dodge never did with their economy cars. Oh m one more thing. Ill take a kia stinger any day rather than any challenger or charger that arent hellcats or demons.
I would love to see a video on the Dodge Dakota. I really loved that truck. Also, as a Dart owner, I have to agree that Dodge should have kept the Avenger around for the mid-size segment.
I had a 2010 sxt. Put 180k on it and it still ran very well. Didn't even know that the transmission was leaking. Mechanic said he couldnt believe it was still running. Bulletproof car honestly. Miss driving it sometimes.

I have a 2008 avenger. I've had it for almost 6 yrs and it has over 200,000 miles. I can honestly say that aside from a couple alternator issues, mechanically this car has been extremely reliable. @@MG-lz5nw Always change the oil when it should be changed. Always change the air filter when it should be changed. Change the air filter INSIDE the car, too. It was sacrificed towards use of Alfa's platform, on which Dart was based. Few years earlier, the Fiat management also cut-out the Caliber and Nitro / Liberty.

The 2014 dodge avenger was my first car. It was great, really liked it. Sad they discontinued it.
Enjoying my '14 in silver with the V6 and leather seats. The ride is smooth and quiet.

Dodge Stealth (Coupe) 1990-1996
Dodge Avenger (Coupe)1995-2000
Dodge Stratus (Coupe)2001-2006
These Cars Pretty Much Were The Same Thing🤷🏿♂️They Only Shared The Mitsubishi Platform❗️
The stealth was a rebadged Mitsubishi 3000gt. The rt twin turbo was the 3000gt vr4 but I don't think the stealth had the all wheel steering the vr4 did.
The stealth was a 3000gt. Nothing in common with the avenger or stratus.
Simba TheGreat But Over Time They Were The Replacements For A 2 Door Sports Coupe!

The Dodge Avenger was the better car.
The 3.6 V6 is a beast of a car. I have a '13 with the V6 and like how it's technically faster than the same year VW GTI.
Better than walking maybe.
@@sagew7377
Better than the Dart i think. It has style, where's the dart looks like a fat jellybean.
@@buddy8225 I'd disagree. The front of the Avenger especially looks like a car from 2005, not 2015. The entire car was dated from the start, at least the Dart looked a touch more modern.
Sage Wysocki fake news
The greatest Dodge ever built.
Do a Chrysler Sebring vid bro a car so hated .. like the channel very much
The late Sebring was on the same platform as the Avenger.
I honestly love my 2005 Sebring convertible! I reluctantly acquired it through a death where it sat 5 years. Upon deciding it had more sentimental value than let it go to the shredder, I agreed to take it. It’s been more than loyal than my 84 6.2L diesel powered Chevy... and I’m die hard Chevy guy, and LOVE my truck more than I love my wife who’s effing hot, and cooks, and cleans, and knows her way around her 71 chevelle matching numbers 454 ss better than me!😭
RIP me
Same here bought a white 2010 2.7 with 80,000 miles it died with 145,000 because a mechanic did put the timing chain back on properly.. 2 weeks later I came up on a silver 2008 3.5 Sebring with 30,000 & I love them both..
Michael Scott loved his Sebring!
They just renamed it the Chrysler 200
Please do a 2015-2017 Chrysler 200 video...
Possibly an SRT4 model would have taken sales from the the V6 R/T.
All you need is a good tune on the V6 and your power will match an SRT4.

I honestly feel like EVERY car has problems or is going to have problems. Take care of the car. Some cars need more taken care of then others.
Dodge Avenger got replace with the dart and they failed on both models
Even thou I have a dart still could have did better
Totally agreed
The Dart is the new Neon, dude. The Avenger just died.
I had one for a few months and I happily returned it to the dealership. Hurt my credit but it's worth it to me, it has come up alot since then though.
Great video man. You always do such a great job explaining things. Love the channel man!👍🏽
Drove mine for ten years and loved it! Traded it in last year and I miss it so much!
Excatly like am i driving or watching netflix?
I like mine but it absolutely sucks in the snow. Tried 3 different tires as well.

But otherwise I’ve loved it.
ok this series is actually so entertaining
🙏🏼🙏🏼
I got the 08' just this past september, she's great on gas, tons of trunk space, passenger space-front/back, and love how it looks, I have it in red, the SXT, paid $5 grand licensed, plated... I'll keep her as long as I can; after all; things last when you take care of them.
I'm about to pick up a 2014 Avenger with 78k miles for about $10k. I've always liked how they look. This video gave me a lot to look out for. Thanks for the info and the history! It's pretty cool to own a vehicle that would be considered to be a "zombie car".
Considering how quick they cut the dart, they def should have kept the Avenger and atleast reintroduce it soon since they only have 3 models right now
Can you do one on the Plymouth brand in general
Wife has a Navy Blue ‘09 Model with 232k only basic maintenance such as oil change, tires ,alternator and gaskets , still running strong till this day 👍🏾💪🏾
I've got a Red '09. 254k miles on it.
The engine and trans are fine. I've had other issues that have happened on it, primarily sensors, and another part, which is well documented, wherein the car check engine light will come on, and the car won't go above 30 MPH.
I know what the issue is. I'm working on it to resolve it. Once I fix that, it's back to road ready. I love that car.
Same issue it turned out to be the catalytic converter just basic maintenance they’re usually estimated to go out around between 150-170k
Yeap or Coils and spark plugs , ours just happen to be the converter but we did encounter that same issue but was just coils
the "why it got canceled" segment seemed to completely jump over the horrendous reliability the avenger became known for.

Love my Avenger, and I hope they bring it back somehow

You're right about the 3.6 The motor is reliable as hell (with the exception of the weak heads on the 2012 which Chrysler fixed in a hurry)
Make a vid on the Dodge Intrepid
Dodge Intrepid could of been a dope car to keep. Too many front end issues on my old 97 3.5v6. super quick but true I want to know why it was canceled lol
The worst dodge ever
Transmission problems. The car was to heavy to pull itself.
Bad transmission and air compressors plagued these cars. They looked good and were very roomy but had lots of issues
My mom has one and the transmission is going fast.
I have a 2014 Avenger and love it. Only complaint I have about it is the fuel mileage isn't as good as its competitors. Still a great and fun car, I'd buy it again.
Marspeed you should do a video on the K-cars

Can you do something like "why did the Chrysler 200 convertible and 200 2nd gen got canceled?"
