I am so glad to have found this channel. This video is so thorough and well explained. You even point out extra details to avoid any accidents and GENUINELY give insights and explain how to tear down a controller. You also give great advice on how to clean the controller if you don't tear it down. Hands down you definitely earned my subscription. The only non bs channel on yt on how to fix a controller. Massive respect man keep it up
I can't thank you enough for this tutorial! My dpad is actually working after following all the cleaning steps🥳 It all took me 3 hours though because it was my first time opening this controller but I'm glad I learned so much in case I have to do it again. The hardest part was trying to slide that touch pad cable thingy through the hole 😭😭 Never wanna do that again
yeah, its frickin hard, the way i did it is by taking a tiny plier, grab the cable and put it in that way, much easier than doing it with your hand, it took me like 30 mins
You’re the man honestly! 😂 I was genuinely about to get a whole new controller because I could not find a way to fix my d-pad until I stumbled across this video 🔥 Solution 4 if anyone was wondering. Thanks again! 🤝
This is a fantastic guide. I tried every step and finally after opening up my controller I was able to scrape a speck off the conductive film which fixed my D-pad registering input constantly. Thanks!
W vid, i disassemble my entire controller and saw that the rubber padding on the down button on the d-pad had completely worn out. Ordered a replacement from aliexpress and fixed it asap Thanks once again
I have had about 6 controller replacemts because of these kinda thinks now and this is the first time I managed to fix it myself with the help of your video (the vacuum cleaner part solved the problem) thank you so much, I cant afford a new controller rn because they are sold for 70€ here in Europe, idk how it is elsewhere but thats very unreasonably much
Only 2 technically but I broke the another one not smashing it but eating spicy romaine noodles and my dumbass 12 years ass thought let's use water to clean it turn out the controller stopped working outside of that I mostly kept them in good condition sure at teen ages I hit my controller when I was mad it worked just minor problems the arrows jammed and l3 stick sometimes get jammed outside of that shit I kept both for 6-9 years barely any different some issues it nearly perfect@@jws7310
Dang dude, thank you! The cardboard thing didn’t work instantly but a few hours later I tried the button again and it had fixed my favorite dead controller (need dat d-pad). Many thanks!
Thank you for this one. My son has been having issues with several of his controllers and he wanted me to buy him some new ones. Glad I found this video. All of his controllers are working like new again. Thanks for saving my wallet.
Dude! Thank you so much. Once the kiddos goto bed I’m gonna try this out. Didn’t play my ps4 for a few months and just fired it up and both controllers were doing this…. Hopefully I can get them running again!
Had to go inside. The dpad was torn. Had an old ps2 controller and it's still exactly the same. Replaced the ps4 dpad with the ps2 dpad and everything works perfectly.
Today is the day two of my old controller died in an attempt to save them that didn't go as planned R.I.P rusty controllers, you won't be missed, and thank god I'm not a surgeon
The silicone look fine, no tear and the d pad looks fine also, at least to my understanding, should i buy the conductive film?, my problem is that the down imput is not working.
Yeah so i started off thinking maybe my controller was just in need of a good cleaning and turns out the little rubber pad on my dpad was worn pretty bad thank you 🙏🏾
So my board is the JDM-001, I see that there's one green and blue version of the film. Mine is green, I just wanna know if the Blue version would work a well or just play it safe and get the green one? Update: I decided just completely wash the film and flip the dpad rubber clean the contacts on the PCB and somehow it works again. I'll hold off buy one for now.
My controller will not seem to register button presses. At first it was just some buttons intermittently not registering. Replaced the conductive film, and a brand new battery in and same result. So I cleaned the buttons and pads inside, they were dirty. Now the buttons do nothing. I plug the controller in and I get one yellow flash and it's done (normally they keep flashing yellow in rest mode so this is weird). What else could be at fault for it not wanting to stay active when plugged in, and not wanting to register any button inputs?
What kind of glue to use? The blue part in my ribbon cable just ripped off, and the one tooth of the metal teeth of the ribbon cable is hanging on. Help
I recently bought a supposedly brand new ps4 and got it today and seems to be working fine but the D-Pad seems to not be working any ideas on what to do?
It's the Botzone for Killzone Shadow Fall. BTW, Killzone 1 and 2 are back online with private servers, so it's only a matter of time before Shadow Fall is brought back online.
My dpad buttons work, but the down dpad button isnt as clicky as the others due to wear n tear and lots of use. How do i fix that? I dont think its from being dirty
@Nathan--Drake yes i bought another controller lol . My other controller still has the problem but still works fine , i use it as a 2nd player/backup now
@@edge1000 I see, I plan on buying a screw driver set then attempting to fix my main controller by coming back to this video later So I'm using my back up controller for now. Never had controllers issues prior to this
Hey the microphone of my controller keeps making static noises and even a but the headphones you know any solution? (On the 2° controller its normal so its a problem of the controller)
So basically I get angry I smash shit and I think I either broke OR ! OR the strike pack I brought has messed it up as I have noticed that only when I got that it stopped working lol it will work randomly
Omg so I forgot to clean the conductive film buttons and when I opened it up the Down D pad had a liquid substance inside the lower part of the film right below the d pad sensor I cleaned it with q tip I lifted the film gently but I believe that was my problem I didn’t clean it goid enough maybe and I also forgot to clean the top with alcohol like you said that’s one part I missed it’s been working thought since I cleaned that Liqour that was under the film near the d pad but it still has trouble trigger the motion d pad sometimes it work good when I put pressed or squeeze the controller as if it gets closer to the film and then it triggers and stays working with out problem then it stops hitting the motion for d pad down it’s weird I’m have to open it back up clean it better cauee there was literally a liquid whatever it was under the film conductive film at the bottom part under it where the blue dots are right below the d pad down circle it was under the film so I believe that’s what was messing with it it works sometimes or like how I said then it doesn’t I’m clean it like you said that’s the only part I forgot and I’m clean under the film better where the liquid was
So my down D pad button isn’t triggering the motion but when I put the cardboard around it at the bottom area it triggers the motion so it does work what should I do is it maybe just not placed right I’m looking for problems like this but no other videos show if it works when putting something in between? Anyone have this and opened it up ?

That d pad thing is a trashy design flaw. Probably completely intentional
I have 5 controllers. Bought between 2017 - 2020 - all 5 have a broken d pad….can’t play gtaV for shit

Does this work with a certain dpad button that's hard to press?

i have an issue with right and down basically when i press right often time it is recognized as down input

After sticking a little needle inside the d pad it started to work, sometimes it just stops working tho so i might need to buy a new controller

thanks
