Vale Brod Smith, never received the mainstream recognition he deserved but was highly respected by musicians for his incredible talent..... old buggers like me will miss you. Thanks for the music Brod
Broderick used to play at a pub I ran in Footscray. At one of those gigs my brother asked me to ask Brod to play this song. He politely refused, telling me that he no longer performed this song. We were both perplexed at the time. It really is a great song.
RIP Broderick. Bought this single. Would have bought 'Faded Roses' - I was obsessed with it - but couldn't find it in record stores. A kind 4BK deejay sent me their copy after a few months.
I'll never understand why this band wasn't bigger than they were but I guess it was the early '80s & raw talent was becoming less of a requirement for success... And for the record, this song will always get my vote for National Anthem. If you new my Dad, you'd know why.
3 quarter time ads on the video screen VFL park around 1988 will be forever etched in my memory for that. Can't remember what the actual ad was for though lol

@@FabrizioMarsani-q7h I’m guessing it was something to do with the lucky Oz lyric?
How long ago did he stop playing the song/when did you ask?
@@Gezza1967 Doubt it ?
