Nothing is worse than the kids being sick. I just cannot relax until they're better, no matter if it's a cold, flu, whatever. No words for the love we have for them, it's incredible.
I'm a nurse (studying to be an NP!) and it definitely sounds like he needed that stronger antibiotic--do you have a pulse oximeter? If he falls into the 80s, I would take him to the ER. They can crash quickly when they get into the 80s. I'm sure you know his already but just looking out for you guys ❤ but I'm sure he'll be better soon!

The sleep apnea is another problem I've had for years , but couldn't deal with the CPAP equipment. I think it's better than before when alc contributed to it heavily.

I wonder if this is a people pleasing trait? I have that issue and am working on it. I just have been noticing, for example, that you sometimes mention you always said "yes" to your boss. It isn't worth it - we can't please everyone, and we can negatively impact our physical and mental health if we try.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son's illness!!! I hope the antibiotics will clear up the problem! I know that a child's illness is extremely hard on parents. I'm sure you've been under a ton of stress seeing your son be so sick. Pneumonia is a dangerous illness. It's great that the doctor called today to check up on him. To think that the first antibiotic (penicillin) was only discovered 96 years ago (but not used much until 1942 or so)!! Other antibiotics (sulfonamides) weren't discovered and used until the 1930s!! We are so fortunate to have these drugs; however, antibiotic resistance is becoming an ever greater problem. I hope society can figure out how to mitigate this problem. Sending prayers that your son will recover completely with the current treatment and not have to be hospitalized!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤
Thank you so much Kathryn! You are right! Antibiotics have not been around for that long, at all! If we were alive in the 1800s, things would be a bit different, that's for sure! The worst thing about it is the resistance now. That us very scary. Especially if you end up going septic and the Antibiotics are not working. The crazy thing about it to me, is the relationship that we have with mycelium and have had for 1000s of years. It's almost like they came from outerspace. They share a lot of our DNA and breath in oxygen and exhale co2 like we do as well..... crazy stuff.

A lot of people haven't heard of fatty tongue, which can cause sleep apnea. When you have fatty liver, your tongue can be affected also.

My dad was never a drinker and suffered from snoring and sleep apnea. He died of sepsis and liver disease, and liver cancer. He had those forever chemicals in his system from agent orange and Paris island

You make the right choice when putting you and your family FIRST. Augmentin is a compound drug that is well known for causing nausea/diarrhea. So sorry he got so sick with it. I remember being a basket case when my kids were that sick, but I always over thought things. My ex-husband snored so bad that, I too, retreated to the couch, and to this day he uses cpap machine. I sleep with a fan on me too!

A drug used to treat bacterial infections. Adding the chemical clavulanate potassium to the antibiotic amoxicillin increases the amount of time the antibiotic stays active in the body. Augmentin is a type of combination antibiotic. Also called amoxicillin-clavulanate potassium.
Such a worry having a poorly child but at least with you being sober now you can be with him and provide him the love and support he needs. Hoping he is on the mend soon 🙏

Getting a CPAP machine was one of the best choise I've made (I hardly never drink alcohol). My sleep is so much better.

Sleep apnea can be caused by a fatty tongue .The viscera often have fat too (visceral fat ) .Sean O'Meara on youtube outlines how such fat can affect our health .

Hey man ,I'm sorry to hear about your son. My son got hives when he was eight, doctors didn't know why and the swelling got so bad we were in fear for his life. At one point I was so frustrated with the doctors and staff that I had to remove myself for a spell. I drove home to see my daughter and prayed to God to save my son. I'm not a religious man so I guess that means I'm a hypocrite. All I know is that the hospital called me 15 minutes later and said that my sons condition has started to improve. OMG! My daughter used to get severe tonsillitis and vomit from the fever. I understand your stress.
Antibiotics are no joke. Her tongue to the bottom of her feet were covered in hives due to allergic reaction to ceclor.
Hey melanie!!! Oh my gosh! That's really scary! That's crazy too, my only drug allergy is ceclor and I broke out into hives all over my body and couldn't breath when I took it as a kid. @@liverdisease-qb6rk he used to drink a lot but gave it up back in 2012. He developed a heart condition (afib) and just stopped. So he was never thrilled about me drinking, especially In excess.
I believe that alcohol can cause neuropathy too. I’m three months sober. I used to have neuropathy really bad. It has disappeared now. I’m really looking forward to your video on neuropathy!!
I’m the exact same way about sleep. A dark room, comfortable bed, A/C Blasting with my loyal fan blowing on high! It works like a charm and our sleep is crucial. That’s when we heal.💯

I am looking forward yo your podcast on neuropathy, I suspect that is what I have and doctors keep suspecting arthritis. The arthritis meds they gave me did nothing but make feel sick. My legs and feet keep me awake and some days I can barely walk. I am 5 years since diagnosed, the pain has been there the entire time. I agree with you, you do not want this level of pain 24/7. Hoping your son feels better soon.
Try magnesium lotion on your legs before bed…it works well…..also I read that alcohol is so inflammatory it swells your tongue hence snoring….

Once your son recovers get your boy out in the sun with some shorts and short sleeves. He needs to build up his reserves of vitamin D. Very important for immune function.

Sorry to hear about your son. Be careful with those antibiotics.Yes, alcohol causes sleep apnea that wakes you up and makes you want to drink. ( Waking yourself up ) If your not under alcohol influence, you should be good. I had an experience recently as I fell asleep and kept waking up in a shake. That is a form of sleep apnea when your brain is asleep, but your body is still going.

Having worked in EMS. I can't count how many "sudden deaths" (outside of a medical setting) I've gone to where CPAP machines were present. Most were correlated with obesity.
Obesity is correlated with insulin resistance and low vitamin D and B1 status. Excess body fat typically means lower D3 levels. The additional consumption of carbs especially simple sugars require more thiamine to metabolize.
@lorimav Yes, limiting the carbs will result in a lower insulin response. Thus, one will be less prone to storing fat. Most people are D3 deficient imo. D3 is crucial for immune system optimization. Perhaps that's why it's many functions are significantly downplayed by western medicine. I take 20,000 IU's, with K2 of course, Diatary "guidelines" has, is, and will always be a joke. That is not imo, I would say that it's factual at this point given the rapid decline in public health over the past 50 years.

Hey Ld, sorry about your boy, I hope gets better soon!.. I'm praying for a speedy recovery!.. I have sleep apnea too, my partner spent many nights on the couch too!.. I haven't had neuropathy thank goodness but I do have arthritis and I think I drank to cover the pain but alchohol also causes inflammation. I'm still in my lucid dreams stage of quitting, I hope it gets better, it's a wierd symptom. Another great video LD, God Bless!

@liverdisease-qb6rk actually I use a mouth piece to keep my tongue in place and not slip to the back of my throat. I may not have it as bad as you. It seems to help for me. There's a device out that can get rid of the cpap mask..maybe you can ask your doctor for alternatives and if the insurance can cover it.

My husband was sent to the couch for 10 years for snoring . His first apnea test came back negative. I argued with the doctor because I saw with my eyes him not breathing. He failed the second test miserably!! Sleep apnea wrecks your body in so many ways, it’s very dangerous. I wish your son a speedy recovery! 💜

I'm sorry your boy has to go through this ordeal and I wish him a speedy recovery, but I know if he's anything like his father, he's a fighter and he will get through it! I believe that 100%, brother! Thanks for the info on sleep apnea; it can certainly be a dangerous thing. I had mild sleep apnea years earlier and people would complain about my snoring. I was also around 245 lbs back then, so I'm sure that didn't help. Since I quit drinking, I've lost some weight and most of my sleep issues have resolved. I did have some neuropathy in my feet and hands (probably due to alcohol) which has also resolved, thank goodness! Sending my prayers to you and your family! God bless!! 🙏❤
My son just had pneumonia. Hot water and honey helps. Nebulizer helps as well. Best of luck!

Edit: I never snored till I started drinking a lot since it relaxes your throat and can make you gain weight. Ever since I quit my snoring went away again. Booze will make everyone snore eventually
