This just seems very "finished" compared to a lot of competitors. Nice integrated storage everywhere. It just all seemed to fit. The things I didn't like are the narrow kitchen space. I just think that'd annoy me multiple times a day. Also, the "drawer behind a cabinet" in the bedroom would just lose a lot of socks and stuff. Even in the pantry in the kitchen, it'd be nice to have a taller backer in there so things wouldn't fall down the back. Add some taller sidewalls to the bedroom "drawers" and you'd have a winner. Things I really did like were the laundry area and the bedroom nook. The bedroom itself looked really laid out with a lot of space to move around. The nook with the extra fireplace was a very nice touch for anyone who was full-timing. Great space for an office or a place to read a book with the fireplace right there.

This is a good looking 5th wheel. Love the entrance door. I have been asking for something that resembled a Full glass door, and Riverstone seems to have heard my design request. Lots to like on this model. Thanks for showing it.

Yeah, it’s okay. I guess I’d take it if I had the money. 😀 The only dislike is, as you mentioned, the center island needs to be moved back to give more room. For the price, I would have expected the slide ends to be painted and a generator installed. Would have also liked to see a square bumper on the back at this price point. It also protects the back should someone hit you or your partner isn’t such a great backup guide. I think side cameras also should be included as well as a TPMS. I know, I ask a lot, but for a luxury unit, I expect a lot. The dinning table is really nice, but if you have a couple join you, hopefully the weather is nice so you can eat outside. Overall, it’s a beautiful unit. I do like the bedroom office area, the laundry area, the cabinets inside and out, and the fact you walk up the stairs into the bathroom and bedroom from the opposite side which has always been the standard in the industry. I hope they bring the other prototypes we saw to the market just in case I win the lotto as the other prototypes were really nice as well. All of there units are nice!

I can no longer wrap my head around the RV industry and RV-er's in general. We just sold our second Rv.... and will never buy another one. The RV community is so brainwashed into accepting substandard products at premium prices... I've never seen anything like it. A $200K unit, and a piece of trim just falls off going down the road because it's attached with like two 18 guage brad nails... and we're just supposed to think that's ok. And here come all the defenders: 'It's a house on wheels'... it's 'an earthquake every time it goes down the road'... you 'have to expect problems'... blah blah blah.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Год назад +3

Here's a better answer, people spend money on what they think is valuable to them. It's not brainwashing. If they get more enjoyment out of the RV than you, that's their prerogative.

My favorite 5th wheel. I think the price is high but I’m wondering how it compares to a Brinkley which feels very upscale and well built to me. The price is much lower. I realize the full body paint is a difference as well as the structural frame components but I’m wondering what else makes these two models different.

My wife and I purchased our 41rl in June and we really do Love it! We looked at DRV, Luxe, And Riverstone. Overall when considering price, quality of build, and furnishings, we felt Riverstone Signature Series 41rl was it. The only thing right now that is needed is a fix for the Truma a/c leaking water issue. And I'm told Truma is at Riverstone working on it. Otherwise everything else is Great and we are happy. I will say we bought a Ram 3500 dually max tow package with Ram air suspension to tow it with. You will need a diesal/dually. Pin weight with our stuff in it is about 4200. And weighs just over 21k.

i have a 2017 RAM 3500 dually but without the max tow package. I have the AISIN trans and I'm currently towing a 12,000 lb Montana. I'm a little fearful I'll need to upgrade my truck suspension, no fears about the motor ability. How have you been doing towing this beast?

The more of these 5th wheels I see the more I am convinced that they are all the same layout other than some minor differences. The only real difference is the quality of the material and the craftsmanship and those differences are not very substantial. My wife and I just turned 50 and we’re retiring at the end of the year & i honestly think we are going to skip buying an RV and buy our neighbors lightly used catamaran to travel.

Would like a side by side comparison with a Luxe.

    • @TDub_ADV
      @TDub_ADV Год назад

This is a step below a Luxe for sure. A Luxe is going to be heavier, offers a lot more custom options and finishes and once you look beyond the surface a Luxe has a much higher build quality. A Luxe is also going to cost significantly more. A Riverstone is more in line with a DRV, better quality than say a Grand Design but not at the same level as a Luxe or NH.
Don't get me wrong here either, not at all dogging on Riverstone. We considered one, a 42fskg but after spending some time in one we decided we didn't like the layout at all otherwise there was a lot to like. If Riverstone made a traditional toyhauler with a decent kitchen we may have bought one. We dont like the 45BATH either, that couch in the garage just seems useless to us and it sacrificed the kitchen and living space to get it... We ended up ordering a DRV JX450 which for us had the best layout.

We bought a Riverstone 41RL two months ago. The design is beautiful…and that’s where it ends. Riverstone (Forest River) quality is atrocious. We paid $1200 for an inspection prior to purchase. A list of issues within the first month:
    1. All 3 AC units didn’t work. Required a full system reset and battery disconnect
    2. The Girard “automatic” awnings were anything but automatic. The front awning would retract with no wind. When we did get a decent wind, it didn’t retract, and ripped completely off of the RV.
    3. The rear AC unit is not mounted properly, and the condensation leaks into the living room. Or when it rains.
    4. On the second move, the bedroom slide would not retract.
    5. There is sawdust in the skylight
    6. the vinyl flooring is already peeling up
    7. The water line is not hooked up to the refrigerator, so no ice maker.
    8. One of the slide slam latches broke from the inside, so we had to empty out the storage are to access and open the pass through.
And the list goes on. For this price point, I would expect a much higher level of quality control.

Hey JD, WTF! this is one nice and unique 5er, but could "you" even tow this? with your F450? I'm seriously thinking about it, I'd have to trade my 2500 duramax SRW for .....what? Also looking at other higher end 5er's hopefully with 3 inch sidewalls, I guess that is DRV and Luxe, right? I also really like the Pinnacle, probably not quite at this level but very nice...and towable.

Nice tour. This was not built for really heavy people but most could fit in the walkway between the stove and sink if it is 28". It's not built for short people as I note how high the controls are mounted. Yes, the cabinet handles couldn't be used by most women with fingernails. The shower needs a seat. And the cabinet doors next to the bed are hinged backward so you would have to get out of bed to access them. I would suggest they use drawers, not a door. You are right, it is a really beautiful unit. I assume there are bar stools provided to sit at the island. Am I right?

Very nice rig. At that price, not for average weekender.
This would be nice for living full time, traveling a great deal, or put at lake property or remote property.
Definitely a dually. With TPMS, i would also want the full camera package as well as entry door camera. The basement storage is begging for slide out trays.
Pricey, but very nice. Assuming it doesnt come with solar installed, that would be a must and upgraded battery system.

I have the 2024 Riverstone 421FK Legacy Edition Fifth Wheel, which I would love it if they put this beautiful bedroom into the 421FK just a thought. Mine has the white cabinets everywhere, because I wanted white cabinets and white couch and recliners. We removed that desk and put another couch. We also removed the live seat and put two chairs and table with a small lamp on it. One thing that I love in mine and is the double sink and huge shower that was a plus for me. The shower head was small so we changed it to the big black square head with wand. It has extra water coming from the center with push of buttton. I love it we live full time stationary in our RV and absolutely love it.

Before buying any new RV it is highly advised to bring in a professional inspector because many of these new coaches especially Forest River are garbage.
These companies need to be held liable when they cut corners with below minimum standards.
One thing right off the bat is those accordion blinds. They are absolutely garbage and will fail you.
Bed frames that are stapled will collapse by cratering thus destroying your back.
I am sure many dealers would prevent you from inspection.
A sales person at one dealership after we walked around for 15 minutes told me I had to leave if I didn't make up my mind soon!
I wasn't even allowed to walk around by myself!

The RV is beautiful, however the biggest mistake on the RV that I have seen in many others is the kitchen oversize slide out which has the fridge, oven tv, storage, fireplace and counters. Once the RV is loaded with items the rack and pinon will not stand the weight and will give out leaving the owner to pay for repairs. There is just too much weight for the large slide out.

As a foll timer, I'd love to have the living space of a 5th wheel, but with a Snap-On tool box and a motorcycle, I kinda of have to have a toy hauler. Also, I get that 5th wheels MUST be much lighter than a motorhome for functional reasons. It has to be able to be towed. I wonder if maybe someone would ever build a rig that's designed to be pulled by a Class 8 truck. One that could have a GVWR in the 40k range. I'd just really like a towable that has the interior finish of my MH. All solid wood, no preesboards or composites anywhere in my rig. My MH has a GCVWR of 50k. I'm sitting at about 44k right now. My cabinet doors and furniture are oak. My floor is real wood. I want a house quality towable. No I'm not just wishing. If it can be done for under $500k, I'd actually buy it (after I get my kidney transplant).

In an otherwise very nice set-up, it is really unfortunate the kitchen slide has a toe-kick, and is not flush to the floor, and to top it off that unacceptable narrowness with the island. They need to rethink that. I'm not the sure the slide mechanisms are the better ones that run under the slide rather than pulling, and extending from the sides.

I’m onboard with the trend of getting rid of the exterior ‘swoops’.

It's cheaper than i thought it would be,its very nice. If you don't care about going offroad, its a perfect unit. Just add some lithium and maybe a genny and you'll be set.
