I work at a hair salon... Same. If your hands are in water all the time, I think it's pretty difficult to have long healthy nails - the stylists I know with long nails tend to have fakes. I don't really want long nails (I know I'm going to break them on impatiently removing a label anyway), but I would like my nail beds to look healthier, so I'm buying the jojoba oil & vitamin E she suggested anyway.
I am SO happy that someone who actually really knows what they're talking about regarding nail care is as popular as you are on yt so a massive audience can get the correct information! Try to get a polish ,you can get special ones, that tastes really bad! You will be put off by the taste and will try to break the habit! Hope this helps!

I meticulously use my other nails to get any dirt out from underneath them (probably not the best method but that's what I do) you can also use a brush or a wooden tool like an orange stick or toothpick or even a plastic nail brush. However, actually dirty nails are probably only an issue for people who work with messy things like soil, paint etc. So for regular life if you don't do messy things with your hands it shouldn't be hard to keep your nails clean.
It's kind of hysterical how she now has her own nail file product, even though that it's technically identical and probably same in price as this one!😂
I ordered like a $10 glass file from Amazon and I'M IN LOVE WITH IT! It files so nicely and the edges are smooth. I got my family hooked on them. I feel like everyone needs one of these in their household. Please invest in one.

Actually, the length of my nail bed did change when I stopped biting my nails. So If you are also a nail biter and worry that you have ruined your nails forever, you didn't and it does get better once you stop biting them. However it does take 6 months to 1 year to see a significant difference. What made me stop (mostly, they still suffer every now and then) was wearing nail polish regularly. And at first, especially because my nails were so short, it looked bad and I didn't want to wear any nail polish but I stuck to natural shades that didn't catch my eye and little by little I started wearing more vibrant colors and even HOLO :)
yup, keep going! i used to bite mine till like 11 or 12 and i stopped bc i got interested in nail polish. instead of biting, i used to eat the polish off the nails lol. I got my nails painted once IT WAS AWFUL!!!!!! They filed my nails back and forth (afterwards they were all split😟) They also buffed my nails with a drill WHICH HURT and afterwards they felt like sand paper.

Don't go back there, ofc but, please, don't let this make you lose your faith in nail salons. Whenever I file my nails, I have to put ear buds in or something because the sounds of the file scraping against my nails make me cringe. It's like nails on a chalkboard kind of thing.
I was too but my grandma said that when this happen you should smile while showing your teeth and put pressure to your teeth to stop the cringe feeling but you should do this while filing your nails and just endure the cringe feeling. Hope it help

In grade 6, something happened (I really have no clue) to my nail and it slowly peeled off day by day until I got fed up and ripped it off. Now it grows crooked. So my nail bed did change it's shape.
I just bought that same nail file. I followed your advice and at first I was using too light of a touch, which resulted in that nails-on-a-chalkboard feeling and cringe effect. I quickly learned you need to put a bit of pressure behind it to avoid that...and I have to say I love the file! So much better than a regular cheapo emery board from the drugstore. Wow should've found this video years ago. I've been insecure about the way my nail size grew and how low it starts growing from but hearing her say that made me realize she's right.
I am very happy about how my natural nails are :) I don't have a huge c-curve, but it's not flat. My cuticles are very short and easy to remove. My nail bed is a very nice shape, like an almond filed nail, and they grow out in a way that makes it look like I always have a salon manicure when my nails are longer. Sadly, MY FRIEND BROKE MY NAIL TODAY!
I found the article that you posted was very helpful and cleared up a lot of questions I had about acetone and the nail strengthener. Yes I found this video just recently and I saw that it was from 3 years ago. I just started doing gel polish at home and was unsure about how safe soaking my nails in acetone really was. I feel better now since I've read that. I'm also trying to make my nails stronger and I've been using cuticle oil daily. My job is very harsh on my hands so I have to keep it up.
I know i am 2 yrs late to the party but so am i to the glass nail file. My life i have no idea how i lived without one, best invention EVER! Shortens my nails faster and doesn't snag. Only downside for me is probebly the cheap ones i get (like 79 pence, i'm from the UK) and i notice how easily worn down they get.

I have a big C curve a well and when they grow they can dig up against your skin, and trust me it hurts like hell. But using cuticle cream helps that from happening to me.( or like Christine said you can use cuticle oil or nail oil)
I did not know about the sea saw nail filing being bad ahhhhhhhh my nails never split though but I will stop doing that now! Also yeah I do have to file the sides...half of my nails go flare...like the ring fingers and the middle fingers . But I will stop the sea saw!!!
duma zuma as a trained comsmotologist filing back and forth lightly will do little to no damage to the nail and neither will buffing you need to buff in order to get any oils from the nail plate smooth and ready for polish and a clean smooth nail I've been a trained professional for 7 years and she makes valid points but also teaching things shes has not been classically trained in
What you said about the hairline splits is sooo true. I can’t even allow my thumb nail to grow (it grows quite long naturally) because at some point some way somehow, it cuts into the part right beneath the white of my nail. And that means eternal pain. Or at least that’s how it feels until it manages to heal.
I had that problem too. Now my nails are long, I think even as long as Cristine's, and they barely get any dirt under them. Maybe dirt just falls out idk ┐(￣ヮ￣)┌

Even if the nail is still strong yellow is often from unnatural cause, and staining from strong polishes doesn’t strike me as particularly beneficial, although not detrimental in any way 🤷♀️

I'm 47 and have been doing my nails for years. Every single thing she says 100% TRUE. -Water is your nails' enemy. Do not do anything until they are no longer saturated with it. -Jojoba is their best bud; let them hang out together often -ALWAYS keep a file on you. A nick becomes a break faster than you think. I just found her vids and I'm hooked. This woman knows her shh.

I just bought that same nail file. I followed your advice and at first I was using too light of a touch, which resulted in that nails-on-a-chalkboard feeling and cringe effect. I quickly learned you need to put a bit of pressure behind it to avoid that...and I have to say I love the file! So much better than a regular cheapo emery board from the drugstore. Thanks for the tips!

I am very happy about how my natural nails are :) I don't have a huge c-curve, but it's not flat. My cuticles are very short and easy to remove. My nail bed is a very nice shape, like an almond filed nail, and they grow out in a way that makes it look like I always have a salon manicure when my nails are longer. Sadly, MY FRIEND BROKE MY NAIL TODAY!

Yes I found this video just recently and I saw that it was from 3 years ago. I just started doing gel polish at home and was unsure about how safe soaking my nails in acetone really was. I feel better now since I've read that. I'm also trying to make my nails stronger and I've been using cuticle oil daily. My job is very harsh on my hands so I have to keep it up.

I know i am 2 yrs late to the party but so am i to the glass nail file. My life i have no idea how i lived without one, best invention EVER! Shortens my nails faster and doesn't snag. Only downside for me is probebly the cheap ones i get (like 79 pence, i'm from the UK) and i notice how easily worn down they get.

I have a big C curve a well and when they grow they can dig up against your skin, and trust me it hurts like hell. But using cuticle cream helps that from happening to me.( or like Christine said you can use cuticle oil or nail oil)

What you said about the hairline splits is sooo true. I can’t even allow my thumb nail to grow (it grows quite long naturally) because at some point some way somehow, it cuts into the part right beneath the white of my nail. And that means eternal pain. Or at least that’s how it feels until it manages to heal.

Nope I just live with it! It's the shape of my skin underneath. Pretty common to have unevenly shaped nail beds that are more /less curved than others 😆😸
