I have nails like this.. I stopped cutting and painting them a few years ago and switched to the glass and nail files. my nails are so healthy and strong now! but I was watching this to see if I could do something different but you do everything I do- so im happy!
Right literally lol. Which is actually doing the opposite of what nail techs are suppose to do, which is to help grow and maintain healthy nails. This action is the reverse of that.
I am probably going to delete this comment because I don't want to get into it. But that's not the point of a nail technician. If the nail curls and the product is straight and a certain angle It can cause lifting which can cause damage if the nail doesn't get filled in on time. Removing the products underneath makes manicure last longer.
i am having the same nails as shown here of this model. it was very difficult for me to file them properly and give them a proper shape so i had used to just trim them fully in frustration and i used to think that only I have these type nails. but your video is a saviour ❤️❤️ . will try to file my nails like the way you have done in the video ❤️👍 love from India
Same here! I thought it was a vitamin deficiency! However, I don’t understand if this will cure the issue? Will they grow normally instead of wide and drooping after this?
@@dixiequi9792 i don't think they will grow in another shape . the natural in born shape is wide rectangle type so we would just have to shape the extra part that grows outwards. I think with time we will get used to this nail shape that we are born with. like they say be happy in your own body .
Thank you soooo much!! I have two nails (the annulars) that grow flat and curve around my finger if I let them grow. I never would of thought that by taking better care of the cuticules would help! Actually, I just noticed that the cuticules of those two nails are stuck to the nail on the sides.
@@Cutthecamerasdeadass1899 it doesn't make it a cuticle though, does it? 😋 That said, when you cut the keratinized part that protects the live skin and the seal with the REAL cuticle, what is going to do that job and what is the skin going to do? bit what about the nail infections that are more likely to occur like this? And the cuticle... it is there to help prevent weakening of the nails. Esthetically, it looks so pretty and professional, but not healthy i think. But yoy really did some nice job making them look prettier
I don’t like filing my nails (gives me the ick) so I just cut my nails on both sides with a toe nail clipper. It works wonders! In fact I shape my whole nail with nail clippers. But I do cut my cuticles with cuticle scissors
Marina! You are amazing nail artist! I love watching all your videos and I am totally admire your work. Bcs of you I feel I am improving my workshop. Thank you so much!
Hi! i have extra wide and flat thumb nails and struggling to find a dual form that fits. Did you have a tutorial on how to cut two dual forms and glue then back to fit extra wide nails? Please help!
I like your videos so much, they are full of important information, for beginner and advanced nailtech's also! God job with this channel! P.S. I like the section with experiments also! I saw things like this on Liz from the nailhub channel also! She is also stunning like you, with looots of info and experience!
Wouldn't the filing of the sides weaken the nail? How often would the client need to come in as the nail grows, to prevent the nail regrowth from snagging and ripping?
So it seems it does affect the integrity of the nail wall which causes fanning and weakness only helped by getting trapped in a cycle of acrylics, no more natural nail
Yeah I’m looking for ways to naturally keep my nails strong. So I’m learning not to file the sides. Also I’m surprised to see a nail tech filing back and forth in a sawing motion 🤷🏻♀️
I have a client that has the wide curvy nails I build them up and file like you did but she has a problem with a nail popping off. I have tried so many dehydrators different primers. I have texted the companies to see what I am doing wrong, but I received any answers. Please let me know what to do!
I have a client with exactly the same nails.. She wants a short square nail, but in a natural look, without any color because she works in a hospital.. So how do I get this look if I fill her natural nail under the acrygel? Then they are clear? Do you have a tip?
I cringed when I saw that. Now that I’ve found natural nail videos YT is pushing all sorts of nail videos and I can’t believe how many people are uneducated about proximal nail folds.

My nails hardly ever break but the nails of my thumbs always do. They start breaking at the middle of the plate of the nail, especially on the outer side. I wonder if it is from typing. But then, I only use my right thumb when I type. So I don't know?
Question: If when you're looking at you hand with your hand set out before you, and your middle nail curls downward, on the right side, you would file the left side more?
If you apply polygel to the curvy nail then put a nail clip on it, won't it help with straighten it out out without having to file the natural nail underneath? I'm asking cos I don't use an efile.
It looks like a lot of other people gave you the same info about the eponychium as I did. If you push it back and moisturize it, it will thin and be nice and supple. PLEASE do not teach people to cut what God gave us to protect the nail bed.
Can’t stand wide nails. When I see them on people it’s actually triggering, especially if they get a fancy french tip manicure, but their nails are round. Don’t know why it bothers me so much. I do know that with my nails that are wide, both middle fingers (go figure), once I put on nail polish and it dries, it pulls them in so they’re less flattened. These nails do look so much better at the end!
there's no such thing as "cutting the cuticle" you're cutting a literal skin fold that protects the nail plates & skin from bacteria slipping in. the excess whitish/semi-transparent kind of film between the skin fold & the nail plate is where cuticle should be & you can remove them by soften them through soaking in water for less than 30seconds. stop trusting nail techs blindly & do some research for ur own safety pls, damaged nail matrix & skin folds hurt more bcs there's lot of nerves on every single of ur fingertips😔😔😔

Wow, what a transformation! Just goes to show that finding someone who's properly trained is so important! Loved the Nail Experiment segment too!
When you file underneath, you remove the natural nail, so you're basically left with an extension.
Yup exactly 💯💯🤣🤣
Yes but you can avoid using any tips and nail forms

Thanks for this, bc I be struggling doing my mom nails 😢😭

hi, with proper strengthening, filing won't affect nails; the client just needs to come every 4 weeks for a correction💅🏻

Use diff nail bits to shape the cuticle better not sure which bit I should use with each system gel acrylic and polygel
Absolutely beautiful 😍
These look so good! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Omg why did she cut the proximal nail fold? That’s living skin! That’s not the cuticle
I cringed when I saw that. Now that I’ve found natural nail videos YT is pushing all sorts of nail videos and I can’t believe how many people are uneducated about proximal nail folds.
could you explain what does 'living skin' mean? how do you know which skin is living vs not living skin?
Sometimes it be dry and people will ASK for it to be trimmed....

I would say because it's easier to achieve, less filing
Which top coats did you use to experiment on?
What is that brush?
Beautiful!
I love my nails natural but I struggle to keep them long. They break

Anybody know where to get this exact service in Houston? Or are all nail techs expected to do this? LOL
love it!

hi, yes, it will help, but we file it out to make sure that the coating doesn't look too bulky🌸

When your nails are growing downwards you may have an illnes or lack of something..
It could be hashimoto.
I didnt had that, when i was younger..
That is not cutting the cuticle! That is cutting the eponychium, something you are NOT supposed to do :O !!!
You can do it just fine 😁
Exactly! I see so many techs cutting the nails fold. It grows back thicker and I’m talking from experience!☹️

Why are you cutting living tissue??? The eponychium should NEVER be cut.
Th design is awful the lighter colour look better . It made the nails look smaller and less obvious
