I really like the crappy plastic buckles 😊 Buckles with a metal casing irritate me as they get bent and deformed when you hit them, meaning closing them always becomes awkward. They never seem to have a locking function either and don’t stay closed after a while. With plastic ones, they aren’t as resilient but they get flattened rather than deformed when you hit them, are cheap to replace and that little locking function kinda works! Just my personal observations!
You are right: The Shifts are great!👍👍👍Just one tip for an upgrade: The Seba CJ Foryos-liners fit perfect with these skates. I liked also the Reign-liners but the Foryos-liners feel even better because they make the Shifts feel like they build one solid unit with my feet. And they have also an attached (and removable) shock absorber underneath which fits also perfect with the Shifts if you remove these massive heelpads. That improves also the power transfer and makes the skates also faster. I could not believe it as I tried this setup the first time. From blade-heaven...😉
Nice review! Like the Shifts too as they feel so low to the ground. Agree on that toe area. Had a pressure point there as well (with the old Reign v1) but with an intuition v2 (or Reign v3) they feel perfect fitwise and then the low toe is actually very nice and makes it feel very compact.
Thank you for this in-depth Shift. The shift doesn’t get a lot of exposure from what I can see. I really do love the streamline look of the shifts. I’m thinking of selling/trade my sways for a pair of shifts. Gracias
Appreciate those reviews man. Really enjoyed the content and the self jokes, keep them up! :) I'm actually on same path end 30s, looking for skates. M12s, a bit narrow, SLs wide. Was aiming on the shifts. Did i understand you correctly, shift weight less than m12s and cults? With wider soul plate and wider toe box?? :) If yes, my only issue might be the lengh. my foot are 270mm length, and the 8/9 shell from razors site is 287mm which is probably too big :/
287mm is most likely the length of the inside of the bare shell, without the liner. You should be good in the 8-9 shell, I'm about 275mm or so and I don't think my foot could be much longer and still fit in that shell.
Glad you liked it! And yep, bigger souls and lighter. That said, I’m not sure if they’re much wider than the M12’s. I think they’re about the same fit as Cults or M12’s. Definitely not as wide as SL’s though.
Loving these videos for the detail, what mondo are you? I’m a 295 and curious if these would fit me in the 10/11 shell, I have the 11/12 sways and I think they’re a shell too big and also very wide.
Thank you so much for this review! It’s so informative. I’m really leaning towards getting these, as both an aggressive setup and an urban setup, but I have a few questions I was hoping you could help me with. I have small narrow feet, 24.2cm and pretty narrow. In the shifts, the size 6 is 240mm and the size 7 is 250mm, but it’s a 6/7 shell, so I would be towards the lower end of the official sizing. I feel like even if I got a size 6, the liner would eventually loosen, and I’d essentially have a size 7, so do you think the 250mm size would be a good snug fit for my 24.2cm narrow foot? Do the Shifts have a removable hell shock absorber? It would be nice to have the option to have a flat heel. Do you think there’s enough support in the boot and cuff for a 4x80 frame setup? I’d like to use these for urban skating too. Thanks!
Glad you liked it. I can really only speak to the 10/11 shell but I definitely prefer to squeeze into as small a shell as I can. I think they would be plenty supportive for an 80mm setup.
@@RollOverTheHill Awesome. Thanks. Have you tried either the Powerslide Next Core, or K2 Uptown skates by any chance? If so, what are your thoughts on them?
I actually just bought them and they are a bit tight on me. When I take the liner out and put my foot in the shell it has a decent amount of room but when I use it with the liner, the liner itself is really tight around the width of my foot but not in length. Should I size my shell up or buy thinner liner?
@@RollOverTheHill Awesome thanks man! I ended up with the shifts. The shell is almost perfect size, maybe a tiny bit of toe room.. But the liners feel way too tight. What liner would you recommend getting?
@@wadet9282 I think the Shift Liners are pretty thin. They do break in quite a bit. If you want a thinner liner I think you'd have to hunt down a MyFit second Skin or dish out the $$ for the Intuition or Roces RL1.
Is the sizing really slim like the cult? I have a cult 10.5 and was thinking about downsizing to a 10 but worried about the slim fit. I wear a size 10 shoe normally
The shells are just about the same size. Both have 10/11 shells, so you’d be just getting a smaller liner. That said, the Shift liner is substantially thinner than the Cult liner. Both my Cults and Shifts came with size 11 liners. I can’t fit my foot in the Cult with the Cult liner, but the Shift liner fits me perfect in both shells.
If it were me I'd try to squeeze into the smaller shell. That said, the toe box on Shifts is a bit tight on the top, I had to push mine out a little bit using some heat and the end of a screwdriver.
how much bigger is the shift 10/11 compared to 909 med ....can u post a vid of size comparison? i just fit into 909 med and im worried the 10/11 shift will be too big
The Shift is slightly longer. The medium 909 is a tiny bit too short for me and the Shift is perfect. It’s not a dramatic difference by any means. The Shift feels slimmer everywhere but the length. In the medium 909’s my toes touch the end but I have extra up and down space, whereas the Shift feels like it was molded around my foot.
Great review thanks! Im getting some Shifts from RW.com. I have Genesys that I got 8 yrs ago from AM. The buckles have issues tightening tbh. Im always having a loose cuff with my Genesys. I got Remz cuffs to replace them. Those velcro buckles look a lot better than plastic though
Is it just me but I remember riding with my buckles undone and I liked the boots too be loose for some reason but it's been 15 years since I've been on a pair lol
Hmm, well I can tell you that the medium 908 was not skateable at all for me. The medium 909’s are bit bigger and were sort of ok for me. These fit me like a slightly longer medium 909.
Hah I actually haven’t held on to all of them. I set up my Cults for a friend and other than that I have my 909’s that I want to keep just because. And I have some original Farmer Xjsado’s that I keep for nostalgic reasons, and to skate every now and then. The others I either have to friends or sold on the Blade trade Facebook group.
