163 - What The Hell Did I Just Do? - Justin and Jehovah's Witnesses

Getting baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses is a forever contract with a cult. In Justin's case, that decision to get dunked in a pool of water was made as a young man, a young man that knew he was gay. Because of that, ultimately he would never be able to be what they wanted him to be. He realized that if he were ever to be disfellowshipped from the cult because he was now an official member and they see being gay as a gross sin, he could now lose contact with his mother, the person that he cared about more than anything.

This interview was really good at showing the stages & progression of understanding that a kid goes thru after being baptized as a CHILD, who is unable to understand in anyway what they are getting into. They have never been an adult & dont know what being an adult entails whether is it religiously, responsibility wise, socially, economically or sexually.

Well, I didn't have three hours to invest but I thought well I know this channel and the story must be good. Dang! I couldn't hang up! I have come to learn just how precious life is and listening to Justin story just enriched mine. I'm 67 and was born in to this cult. My life story was not the same as his but the story he tells and his honesty as a human being is beyond what this cult can tolerate. This org employs hate and control and they can't tolerate anything that questions their perceived authority. Great interview!

I was born in, too. Third generation. I'm older than you. The Org managed to place whole extended families into an alternate reality. I didn't know that there was any other way to serve God.
