these gates are a nightmare. they take so long to open and close, the roads become gridlocked. plus they breakdown regularly sometimes closed for 3 days.
I've just been to the crossing at the time of writing this message as I'm on holiday in Saltburn-by-the-sea and recorded it. God, those Alarms are loud! Amazing video like usual!
@@vastjonea It's not really the only level crossing with sliding gates in the country. There is also this one in Wolverton ruclips.net/video/zEesxwlmzuo/видео.html but they're manually operated. I guess to be more specific, Redcar's is the first and so far only with the Power-Operated Sliding Barrier (POSB) system.

Thank you very much! I thought the same, very lound and screechy alarms here.
Great video, love the sliding gates 👍
Thanks! 😁👍
I used to live there, loved those gates!
Absolute really nice Crossing and Video!! I love those sliding gates they must be very unique!!👍🏻😁
Thanks! This is a very unique crossing
Redcar Central is the only crossing in the UK to have sliding gates so it’s the rarest crossing in the UK. (If you talk about gates/barriers)

@@SouthEastLevelCrossings that’s what I meant. I’ll have a look at the video
Great video! Certainly one of the more unique crossings in the UK, IMHO.
Thanks! Certainly is. I'm glad to have gotten the opportunity to film here.
The sliding gates are really unique. Amazing video 😁👍
Thanks very much! They definitely are
So good to see a video on the other side. Great video
Thanks! 👍
Were they a trial to see how good sliding gates would be? I can't spot any reason why they went for sliding gates and not traditional lifting gates
It's most likely due to the placement of the signal box, and the road being too wide for a full width barrier that they've used this here.
where was the class 185 going to, I saw the sign said Redcar Central
It was moving into a passing loop just east of the station to let a Saltburn Train through, as it had terminated in the station
Ouch those alarms are ear-piercing. Good thing I wasn’t wearing headphones.
100% agree
This level crossing should be called 'Rarecar' level crossing
Lol
