There was an accident at Stainforth Road level crossing a few years back. A train had stopped over the crossing for a few minutes (due to the vigilance device being applied), and eventually the crossing raised. Meanwhile, a car was approaching. It was nighttime, and the lights weren't flashing, so the driver didn't notice the train in time and ended up crashing into it. Turns out the crossing's circuits dated back to it's installation in 1974, and there was no check to make sure the train wasn't on the crossing before raising.
I wonder if the traffic camera works after the barrier raises? The line that connected appleby frodingham works with normanby park steelworks and flixborough wharf back in the 1970/1980 era. Also to the dragonby ore mining sidings. Good to see it still working.
That white van came round that bend too quick. Why was the train going so slow at the beginning? Maybe the barriers would have stayed down instead of timing out? Very unsafe. Nice crossing though. ❤😊
My best guess is that the train was struggling given how many revs were given, and it just didn't manage to get moving that much until it reached the crossing - seems unlikely the driver would be applying so much power and so much brake at the same time to be going extra cautiously. Had it gone as normal, this timeout probably wouldn't have occurred, at least with so much of the train still to cross.
Great video and crossing! Wonder if they had trouble getting moving due to wet leaves on the rails?
Thank you! Genuinely not sure what caused them the trouble getting moving tbh
That's unusual! Good catch!
Thanks!
Level crossing, I know you're tired and all, but could you at least wait until after the train has passed to raise the barriers?

I mean i havnt seen a train pass in months! I also have never seen it do that!
Very unusual to see that happen! Great Video! 👍🏻
Thanks a lot! Yeah it is.
Great video
Thanks! 😁

This has happened a few times before. It happened at Southampton Chapel Road LC in 2015.
These AOCL+Bs are not particularly brilliant in that sense.
Wow nice video there I had something like that at Barmouth quite a few times
Thank you! Surprised Barmouth of all crossings is doing it. Would've thought the detection there would be better as it's a passenger line?
An AOCL+B crossing.
Excellent video as always 👍
Thanks again!
Oh god! Im suprised they only used 1 class 66 as it was clearly struggling. This is a very nice crossing though, even though it did this. Great video!
I agree. Really liked this crossing despite the timeout. Thanks!
Very nice, crossing had enough on how slow the train was going

@@SouthEastLevelCrossings thanks for that, I thought it strange the train was moving do slow. 🥰👍
Oh ny god! That is super unsafe. Good video though.
It ain't good! Thankfully the train was well on it, and you'd have to have a bit of a problem if you went straight into a moving train.
@@SouthEastLevelCrossingstrue😂
Oh dear…
Another dodgy AOCL+B. The timer just isn't long enough for the type of train that uses it and the nature of the line it's on
@@SouthEastLevelCrossings yeah
