- The World Spear is 1 of 2 new official master levels, this is my first UNM clear.
You get the hammer from the start, sometimes I try to save it for difficult situations so it doesn't get used as often as it should. Didn't have to resort to any BFGs during this run and I try to use the chaingun shield as little as possible.
This was a long master level compared to the others, was fun though.

Or maybe just 80% from this but the Day 1 Version of TAG 2 was just boringly easy, especially with the Hammer
@@feralsound then by your logic, fromsoftware is going on a loss and is still producing the soul series? People consider the soulsborne series as the hardest games and still play them. Doom eternal could have been the fps equivalent of soulsborne.
@@bigboss-cg5es As much as I love challenge Doom isn't soulsborne. The series always had different difficulty levels and attracts a more causal audience as well, not just hardcore fps fans. I think way to solve this for the next game is make nightmare difficulty more distinct from the rest. Make nightmare have more enemies, harder spawns and no extra lives.
The fact that this took probably the best Doom Player out there almost an hour to complete really goes to show how much ID Software recognized the skill ceiling of their game and didn't pussy out with the DLC. They had no chill with TAG 1 and 2 for most players, and the Master Levels are a masterpiece of level design. Bravo
Played this one on nightmare and needed like 2 hours. Sometimes i was in the same encounter for 10-15 min. Definitly my favourite one so far.

Im defeated. Im ultra violence on my best day outside of vanilla and I think I peaked. Now for some reason I came here to watch zero master beat it without trying.
Tag 1 was great. Tag 2 was such a massive disappointment and the final boss sucked ass.

Fun fact: this is exactly how I cleared the blood swamps in my playthrough. Apparently I did something that is extremely fucking tight to do... by complete fucking accident

New difficulty unlocked: Zero Master Level
The more i play the game, the more i realize how great this guy is. His play seems like his playing on a lower difficulty, even though he is always playing on UNM!. He never puts himself in a danger position, always finds a best spot, always targeting the most threatening target at the time. Now i truly understand why he's the best of the best.

I'm still pleased that this game redeemed the name "Master Level". The only map in the original Master Levels that really upped the difficulty in regards to classic Doom was The Express Elevator to Hell, and it's only okay at best.
I mean Black Tower and Bloodsea Keep were also worthy of the title "Master Level", but the majority of original Master Levels are easier than most of DOOM 2 which is a shame.

What difficulty were you on? For the most part, the master levels I’ve played are much harder than the regular doom 2 levels on UV.
Just did this on Classic/Ultra-Violence. Was a several hour journey and a several hour nap afterwards.

I love how this is so fucking satisfying to watch someone to actually manage the level of difficulty I once thought was too much to ask for from game devs.

This level is what made me pull out the BFG.
I did every other level master level no BFG, but this one was just too much...
That end fight is ridiculous, ending with double Doom Hunter, Marauder, and Hell Knight all in that tiny room is crazy.
Interesting. On this master level I didn't find the BFG very useful. I also didn't the last fight on first try. Form me, the hardest fight was the one at 10:00, it made me rage quit several times.
Interesting, I didn't have much trouble with it since one hammer use was enough to kill the Marauder and leave one of the Doom hunters shieldless (I had already killed the other)
yeah I didnt feel the need to use the BFG at all in this level either, cuz hammer.
and I dont usually have much trouble on the final battle, but I do find the unmaykr really useful for some of the possessed demons. maybe I don't "need" it, but I dont like to use a lot of lockon burst and I do like to use the unmaykr cause to me it feels like a more balanced superweapon: still powerful enough to be "super" and justify consuming rare ammo, but not like skipping a wave of fun combat or admitting defeat.
I also don't really see how the bfg would help much with 2 doom hunters and a marauder unless you use it to 1hit the marauder after you parry with SSG. But since you have the hammer, you dont even gotta do that to trivialize him. I usually make sure I have at least 1 blood punch, ice bomb 1 of the doom hunters and hit him with a blood punch + quickswap combos to kill him immediately, then try to make sure I've got the hammer for the marauder or just combo him out normally, and try to hit the second DH with the hammer when I hit the marauder with it. if I dont, i should still be fine as long as I get rid of the marauder. having 2 DHs alive is just too much firepower to have to contend with at once, but fortunately you can instakill them more easily than most superheavies.
Don't get me wrong, this level is hard af and I have trouble with some other parts. failed UN twice while trying to destroy the second buff totem on that big open snowy arena with the hook points, and also failed UN plenty of times to stupid-ass mistakes elsewhere in the level. Still havent got it, but I just started attempting it again, and think I will get it next time. I know I've got it once I get past that snowy double buff totem room, because I've done the final battle without dying on regular nightmare plenty of times. BOTH fucking times I died before I could break the totem, I was literally like 3ft away from it. I got hit a knockback that I think was from a tentacle, followed by turret shots the first time. The second time, IDFK what even killed me because it was multiple hits that knocked me in different directions within like 1 sec. Might have been whiplash ranged attacks and maybe a tentacle slap or two. was flying thru that second time, barely even took health damage for most of the level up till the buff totems. god fucking damn it.
Taras Nabad on UN definitely makes me use the BFG on that shit-ass double archvile/double tyrant/energy barrier room, though.

@@warboy8569it’s perfectly fine we didn’t, at least in my opinion. This level was probably only made as difficult as it was for people who were saying it was too easy. If they added the Blood Swamps Master (it would be the Blood Swamps as that’s the most iconic level in TAG 1) Level and made it harder, that would ruin what the World Spear Master Level was trying to do, make TAG 2 harder than TAG 1. Also, it’s fitting the latest possible Master Level is the hardest. It’s like that for the campaign as well. If they made it easier, people would complain it’s easy.
I’m at work right now and watching this makes me want to just leave and go home and play.

This is my last master level to complete on extra life mode on nightmare before I attempt ultra nightmare. Zero master is just so mechanically solid with no wasted shots. An inspiration

I consider this master level to be the best! It's the same map design, but the level detail surprised me with every fight. It was nifty enough to say I wasn't on the same level, and every ambush gave me a big panic. A lot of pain too lmao

I just finished World Spear ML on Ultra Nightmare....the level is just insane. That was the hardest Master Level ever.
i will NEVER gonna be that experience in my lifetime. Just cant shut my jaw up gazing upon such beyond-human reflex. Its truly sad that Im such casual pleb that never ever will be able to even get near that level of tenacity and resource control.

What a fucking level. So many good surprises and it punishes you HARD for slipping up even a little bit.
I just beat this level on Ultra Nightmare! It was very intense, there were many close calls and I have to rely on the BFG and chaingun shield for hairy situations. But I managed to clear it in the end!

I rarely do that. I'm the opposite type of player that uses super shotgun and ballista, then goes back to shotgun, then blasts them with a rocket. But more than anything, I spam the FUCK out of SuperSG and ballista. It's my go to.
Remember those weapon swap on Quake 3 promode that was a fuxxxin good times 🔥🔥🔥

This ML has like, a dozen more Arch-Viles and twice the amount of Marauders in Cultist Base. I think alone makes it way harder.
World Spear doesn’t have the “fuck you” sections in Taras Nabad, but the arena fights are super tricky thanks to those busted environmental hazards. I’d say this is one of the hardest MLs so far.

This level was a pain in the ass. I completed it on classic mode. Nightmare difficulty. I din't find the destroyer blade, the energy shield and the lock on burst. I use that a lot. But I really enjoyed it. This is my favorite master level.

Meh. Ive done enough quake live instagib without a crosshair to know its not actually hard. You don't aim while looking at your crosshair as much as you think you do.
After playing fully no hud af for a while you get used to where the crosshair should be
There are monitors that can display crosshair on top of whatever you play, and it won't show up on recording
If you ask me the crosshair makes it worse
The ending arena with the crystal had me thinking "why are you doing this to me??? 🥵
