Teachers work so hard and spend so much of their time and money making sure their students have everything they need. My daughter starts kindergarten on Monday and I am so excited. I’m sure I’m more excited than her. I don’t even teach, but at times I find myself getting annoyed with the parents that complain about the school supply lists. I don’t think many parents take the time to consider just how much time, money, and dedication teachers pour into their children.
Yes, it is definitely frustrating at times when families complain... but I try to remember that not everyone understands how much of themselves teachers pour into each student - mentally, emotionally, and financially :)
MIchelle LiliBeth this comment wasn’t for those who are financially strapped. I understand there are some families that cannot afford the necessary supplies.
Just a thought from an experienced K teacher........don’t make your bathroom too attractive or give the kids too much to look at. Some of them will take forever in there just looking at all the stuff😉

I see others have commented about the bathroom concerns, my big one in there is that the large shelving unit needs to be anchored to that wall. When you least expect it, a curious body will inevitably climb that cool looking shelf and it will come crashing down with said curious body. Before you say “No way! It is too heavy” let me tell you that my own child pulled a twin sized loft bunk bed on top of her by goofing around hangin on it. I would have NEVER thought she would be strong enough to pull it on herself.....but kids have a way of doing things we grown ups never consider. Don’t underestimate the strength and decision making of curious kids. A bathroom would be a very dangerous place to have something like that happen. I see cracked heads on toilet, the tipped shelving unit blocking the entrance to get to the kid.....so many things. Please don’t take any of this as me being negative toward your beautiful space. Your room is exquisite ❤️ Best wishes for your school year, you are adorable!

Hi, I am a primary school teacher in Great Britain. I have watched a few setting up class videos on You Tube. In the USA do you buy your own resources or does the school allocate a budget to each class teacher? Thanks
It depends where you are. My district provides a good budget for supplies, but we are also spread out throughout the county (I teach for the county, and we have rooms in different district buildings). However, many places do not provide nearly enough for their teachers for the year, and they end up spending a lot of money out of pocket for their classrooms. What's it like in the UK?
Great question! A little bit of both - we get about $250 to spend each year on non-consumable items (EX: we couldn't buy mini marshmallows to use for a science experiment because the kids will consume those). In the past, we've had to spend all of that money at Office Depot, but I heard this year that we'll be able to order from a list of websites with that money (including Lakeshore and Amazon!!). I've gotten some donations from family & friends through my Amazon Wishlist, but for the most part I've just been saving up my own money for about 3 years (including all of my birthday and Christmas money!) because I knew that starting out with my first classroom would be a big investment. But I'm trying to make wise purchases of things that will last for many years! :)
I know - sorry about that! This was the first vlog I ever did and I didn't know about turning the volume up and down on certain clips yet. It's much better in all subsequent videos. Thanks for watching!
you might want to rethink putting crayons in a locked bathroom with kindergartens haha. that could be a disaster! but i love your class so far and admire the time, money, and effort you put into it!
I wanted to line everything up so that it would be straight (which didn't really end up working out, haha) and I left the first few letters of the alphabet at home. So I grabbed the last few just to use as spacers :)
I am a SPED Teacher in Texas, just a thought, you may need to take the shelf out of the bathroom ADA says handicapped Areas must remain accessible, even if you dont have an student needing that access right now. Maybe use a smaller one? I have a small cube shelf that holds extra supplies for the students like clothes, girl items, etc. And I have the same addiction with bins, mine are aqua and purple!
I'm in Florida! We start school on August 12th :) I hadn't planned to but would definitely consider it if people would be interested :) Is that something you'd like to see from me in the future?
Good question! I haven't really added everything up yet - but quite a lot, haha! It was all by choice - you can absolutely be a good teacher without buying all of these things :) My district gives us between $200-300 to spend on supplies each school year.
Yes, I did pay for most of it myself - I would say probably about 90% I've paid for myself. The other 10% came from friends & family members who bought items off of my Amazon wishlist. My district gives us $310 to spend on supplies during the school year. But all of these things I wanted/needed before school started so that I could get them set up - and if I ever move schools or districts, I own all of it and can take it with me :)

@@kristinchappell6677 Yes we get a budget but spend far too much of our own money too!
Your audio levels are a rollercoaster
I know - sorry about that! This was the first vlog I ever did and I didn't know about turning the volume up and down on certain clips yet. It's much better in all subsequent videos. Thanks for watching!
i love it
Where did buy the plastic storage boxes??
B G looks like dollar tree. I saw some just like there
Almost all of them are from Big Lots :) There are a few from Target mixed in, but about 90-95% are from Big Lots :)

Awesome! Will you be a long-term substitute?
I had a doctors appointment yesterday
I'm sure your first year will be great! What state are you in and when do you start?
My guess is somewhere in Louisiana. I could be wrong though schools around me start later this week. Hope this helps.
@@Brittany.Anderson Yeah I just wonder where people are located.
Thanks so much! I'm in Florida, and we start on August 12th :)
@@PrimarilyYours No problem, one more week. I'm in Virginia and we still have a month before we go back!
@@AubreySmalls Wow! I'm jealous! When is your last day of school? Mine was June 5th!
Where did you get that cute gray rug?
It's from Ross! I got it this summer for about $30 :) So worth it!!
I have a class room set up for the school year
i’m maddie also! love this!❤️
Hi, Maddie! Thanks for watching! :)
We have the same rug
Awesome! All of the primary classrooms at my school have that same rug :)
Where is your rug from ?
It's from Ross :) I think it was only $30!
you might want to rethink putting crayons in a locked bathroom with kindergartens haha. that could be a disaster! but i love your class so far and admire the time, money, and effort you put into it!
Yes - a lot of people commented after I filmed & posted this video, so I did. Thank you! :)
Thanks so much!! :)
why did they alphabet go z y x in the beginning
I wanted to line everything up so that it would be straight (which didn't really end up working out, haha) and I left the first few letters of the alphabet at home. So I grabbed the last few just to use as spacers :)
Go through the cabinets.
You are so right! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I appreciate it!
I love aqua and purple together - so pretty!!

Thank you! :)
Why did you pick teal
I love aqua too!
It's the best! :)
What state are you in? When do u start school? Will you be doing daily teacher vlogs?
I'm in Florida! We start school on August 12th :)
I hadn't planned to but would definitely consider it if people would be interested :) Is that something you'd like to see from me in the future?
you must like pink right
haha YES! How did you know that pink is my favorite?? ;)
I have a question.. okay so how much did you spend on all the school supplies. Also a average per year ?
Good question! I haven't really added everything up yet - but quite a lot, haha! It was all by choice - you can absolutely be a good teacher without buying all of these things :) My district gives us between $200-300 to spend on supplies each school year.
darn it ! i thought you favorite color was red !!
How'd you know?? ;)
Hi! Where did you get your aqua sterilite bins? They’re so cute!
Lidia Barillas big lots had them!
They're all from Big Lots! :) I know, I love them too!!
So did you pay for most of this yourself? Or do have a classroom budget that pays it?
Yes, I did pay for most of it myself - I would say probably about 90% I've paid for myself. The other 10% came from friends & family members who bought items off of my Amazon wishlist. My district gives us $310 to spend on supplies during the school year. But all of these things I wanted/needed before school started so that I could get them set up - and if I ever move schools or districts, I own all of it and can take it with me :)
