I once had a gown, it was almost new Oh, the daintiest thing, it was sweet Alice blue With little forget-me-nots placed here and there When I had it on, I walked on the air And it wore, and it wore, and it wore 'Til it went, and it wasn't no more In my sweet little Alice blue gown When I first wandered down into town I was both proud and shy, as I felt every eye And in every shop window I primped passing by Then in manner of fashion, I'd frown And the world seemed to smile all around 'Til it wilted, I wore it, I'll always adore it My sweet little Alice blue gown The little silk worms that made silk for that gown Just made that much silk and then crawled in the ground For there never was anything like it before And I don't dare to hope there will be any more But it's gone, 'cause it just had to be Still it wears in my memory In my sweet little Alice blue gown When I first wandered down into town I was both proud and so shy, as I felt every eye And in every shop window I primped passing by Then in manner of fashion, I'd frown And the world seemed to smile all around So it wouldn't be proper if made of silk were another My sweet little Alice blue gown
This is Wonderful I can't play because I was Lazy But I never Missed the Jazz Club I've loved Music of all Kinds from the 1600's to the 1970's But this is fabulous!!
As I watched this for the first time I kept thinking Vince Giordano would switch to the bass sax and beat out a solo likened to the hot licks Adrian Rollini did on this tune but sadly that was not to be. Love this performance all the same.
Kenneth deGruchy -I see you are familiar with the Red Nichols 5 Pennies version with the bass sax solo by Adrian Rollini. Red Nichols also plays a fine muted trumpet solo on the same recording.i agree it would have been nice to hear Vince play a bass sax solo on the Schumm recording.
Love the motherly-looking lady on guitar. The pianist from my old dance school in New York in the 50's had jammed with Fats Waller and Willie the Lion Smith, whom she was married to, and had her own Dixieland combo, Merrill's Marauders, in Panama when it was a wide open city. She looked exactly like Whistler's Mother. It was impossible to associate her face with the hard-driving stride bass her left hand played.
That's Leah Bezin (or Leah LaBrea--The Windy CIty Songbird) from the West End Jazz Band. She sings, plays guitar and banjo and quotes lines from Three Stooges films like nobody else.

This is the real AMERICAN music. But who is appreciating it today? Look at the audience - only old folks are here. The most of youngsters involved in rap and other garbage junk-noise that they call "music".
Yes but isn't it wonderful that he is trying to look the part? And also to be the part? Just look at his retro drum kit, doesn't that look authentic? So why criticise his valid effort to produce an authentic look for himself too? As you say, he looks like Henry Hall, so that is really a compliment to his efforts. And Henry Hall wasn't the only person who looked like Henry Hall - thousands did - well done Josh Duffee for your sense of period style.
Mr. Schumm playing Bix' original cornet. Hmm.... According to Bix' old chums, he NEVER cleaned his instrument! But after so much time, the bacteria might have evaporated.
trumpet is nice wo being too loud.. piano excell..base strong not just whump whump..clarinet fine..trombone super ..drum good guitar nice..would have liked to have heard the bass or contra bass sax..I like the equal or better than tuba
There's still hope for the future ! great Jazz Bix still lives !
I once had a gown, it was almost new
Oh, the daintiest thing, it was sweet Alice blue
With little forget-me-nots placed here and there
When I had it on, I walked on the air
And it wore, and it wore, and it wore
'Til it went, and it wasn't no more
In my sweet little Alice blue gown
When I first wandered down into town
I was both proud and shy, as I felt every eye
And in every shop window I primped passing by
Then in manner of fashion, I'd frown
And the world seemed to smile all around
'Til it wilted, I wore it, I'll always adore it
My sweet little Alice blue gown
The little silk worms that made silk for that gown
Just made that much silk and then crawled in the ground
For there never was anything like it before
And I don't dare to hope there will be any more
But it's gone, 'cause it just had to be
Still it wears in my memory
In my sweet little Alice blue gown
When I first wandered down into town
I was both proud and so shy, as I felt every eye
And in every shop window I primped passing by
Then in manner of fashion, I'd frown
And the world seemed to smile all around
So it wouldn't be proper if made of silk were another
My sweet little Alice blue gown

Just wonderful hot music. I love Vince and Andy, just worlds best at their craft. I wish I was there to dance to this
Super Band and a Fantastic Piano sound and solo.
One of my all-time favorite hot jazz tracks on RUclips. All wonderful musicians having a ball with this old tune.
Andy Schumm is such a star on this track, absolutely riveting solo
Mr Schumm and his boys-and girls!!-really punch it out in the old style.Tremendous JAZZ!!
A very nice rendition of a classic song
This is great. I will add: Wow!
Wow, what a great track played by a great band. Lovely lilting rhythm section and fantastic solos. Gorgeous music.
Just watched a Tennesse Williams play "The Tear-drop Earings" on TV and this song featured, although it didn't swing like this.
Vince Giorgano is such a fine musician and he always looks like he is having a good time.
Wonderful piano break
Enfin de la vraie musique américaine, et au diable tout ce junk rap et autre "musak".
Bravo les artistes !
Andy Schumm is a superb bass sax player!
He plays ten or twelve different instruments to perfection!
Super excellent with very good interesting video
Just great music and great musicians!!!

Holy Crap!!! Boc de boc cymbals!!!

+Зяма Иванов I started listening to this classic jazz when I was 13 y.o., and am still diggin'; it57 years later!
I agree, but that is exactly what our great-grandfathers said about this kind of music.
My great grandfather had been gone a generation by the time this super music came along.!!!!
I've just replied to a sixteen year old fan of the 1920s and 30s dance band music. There's hope for mankind yet.
Feeling shut out!
John Otto on clarinet is the best!
The drummer strangely looks like henry hall (a british bandleader)

This went from a Waltz in the early 20's to a 4x4 in the mid 20's same dress but shorter lol
Why so many marked private?

+MrJimmienoone As a medical man I can assure you that his alcoholic breath would have killed all forms of life within his cornet long ago!
It sounds damn good though, either way? Great group real hot old-time jazz. Thank's for this wonderful posting!
He kinda looks like bix himself tbh
Ben Pollack is grinning ear to ear....
They really are TERRIFIC!

What ijnzerinia said!
You lure me in with a clickbait tuba and then give me a string bass? Admittedly, it's a cool one...but you owe me tuba!
