  • HI! We're back with Part 22 of the Fury rebuild! This time we'll be fitting up the front of the Fury including the sketchy old hood... Also, the shabby old lower valence panel is finally ready for some primer, and there's a "My Classic Tire" Winter Grips Special, haha! I also wanted to introduce a Citroen DS project that I've been working on here... I hope to be finishing these two projects this winter, so there will be lots of updates on the way!
I was offered a good deal on an extra Model T frame, and it arrived with a bunch of cool stuff, so let's have a look!
Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments! We do appreciate that anyone would take the time to leave us a note. If you would like to help keep our channel going, you can get a sticker or a hat or a coffee mug at:

Sometimes I works on me Fury,
Sometimes I works on me Ford.
Sometimes life might look a bit dreary,
But I ain't too often much bored.

first off, great work. second, it's not too hard to re-nickle those model T headlight reflectors, and it can be done in most garages using electrolytic process in a week acid solution like vinegar. the pure nickle bars can be found for cheep on eBay. just make sure the metal you're plating is extremely clean and it works out well. I've done a couple old motorcycle ones and I've been happy with the end result.

I didn't comment when I watched this the first time on Saturday, I just watched it for the second time and I have to say I'm glad to see the Fury back! This is my favorite project of all of the stuff I've seen you do! I have a soft spot for finned cars and this car and all of your Forward look cars has given me a big appreciation for them! I would love to see you line up all of your old Mopars in their own row because I lose track of how many you have! I even like the black four door you guys pulled apart and got running! I'm a retired auto body, frame and paint tech and I kept my shop to play with my toys in! I've built myself some real nice cars over the last 50 years but my favorite thing has always been dragging in broken down old junkers in and making them road worthy! I used to resell them when I got them safe to drive but now I just keep them around and drive them when the mood strikes because I seem to get guys offering me less money for them than I have in them! Besides it's nice to have a different car for every day of the week! Again, I'm glad to see the Fury back! And I can't wait to see it done because I want to see you do the White 61! It looks like it's nowhere near as bad as the 60 though, If it is you can splice it into the blue four door that used to be your daily driver! Keep up the good work!

So good to see the Fury coming together! It looks just amazing out in the sunlight. Those snowmobiles! The winters at my old man's shop were spent fixing snow blowers and snowmobiles. He was a Ski Doo and Rupp dealer in the mid 70s, so I have lots of hours logged sitting on those things, making pretend engine noises. Then, I almost decapitated myself on a Ski Doo when I was 12, as I suddenly found myself barrel-assing toward a garden irrigation pipe, but that's another story. Thank god for flexible
windshields and quick reflexes. I remember some weird, one-off snowmobiles rolling thru the shop, but I don't believe I ever laid eyes on a "Wild One."

Well, happy to see you working on the Fury again! I know how many hours you can kill trying to adjust parts so they line up well. I seems you are quite a perfectionist. Considering you work with classic american cars and Citroens. Those cars were known for a lot of things but never for great fitment of body parts. We might be shocked today studying a car fresh from the assembly line of the good old days.
I met an old guy here in Switzerland who had to fix brand new US and Canadian cars at the dealers with problems. He said a very common problems of those cars specially those from Canada were electrical issues. He said many times the guys in the assembly line just drilled holes for screws to tack down carpets, trim parts and such. He said tons of times they would just killed brand new wiring harnesses with their drills. Build them cheap and build them fast! Same thing with paint. Even upper class vehicles often only had a symbolical amount of paint sprayed on the inside of doors, trunks and hoods. Often on the plain metal.
An other guy I know was working in Detroit at GM in the first half of the Sixties: He was the one responsible for cars straight from the assembly line that had issues. Maybe they thought a Swiss perfectionist would solve those problems better than most.
We had our assembly lines for US cars here in Switzerland. Very often you can tell that a car was assembled here just by seeing if the gaps were quite perfect. I remember a guy working for GM Switzerland who was showing me a brand new imported Firebird: The hood would line up quite well on one side, on the other side he could stick his finger between the fender and the hood. There would have been space still for a pencil or a cigarette between the finger and the hood.
Love to see your great job as always: Keep the good things coming!

They should come up with a machine that can mold new tires to make them look exactly like them you have around. For example IF you find a good used or NOS and then the machine should with computer technology make a mold that are exactly the same as the old tire. Cool winterclassics greetings from Sweden:)

Outstanding, I've been watching this from day one you've done a hell of a job and using the two cars and grafting the two together to bring this old Plymouth back from the dead was nothing less than inspirational. It's been great to watch you work so far and to see your determination to getting everything just right no corners being cut no rushing to get things done just absolute dedication and attention to the finest detail and just how it should be the mark of a true perfectionist.
I'm really looking forward to watching you laying down the paint on the day I'm a 30 year time served mechanic and body man myself and there's no feeling like laying on several coats of paint and clear and then unmasking and seeing the finished job ... gives a man a sense of accomplishment .. especially after as in your case resurrecting the car from ground up ;)

It was so funny when Tom was making his contributions about fitting down the down the hood, I nearly snorted my coffee out of my nose when he said just take a 2x4 and hitit down, on the one hood corner and you're like what is it your first day here and then he kept rolling with the problems with K car hood and I was ROFL, and thinking of Hornet I had, the one salesman at the Ford dealer called me about a tradein that was going to be farmed out or junked. I went up there asked where the car was, and he told me it's in the back, here's the keys, I went back and there was brown Hornet with the hood bent in half, I started the car, it ran and stopped and I asked how much and he said 50 bucks and I took it and came back later to pick up, the hood closed ok, it must have been the springs needing oiled or just cheap metal, but it drove well and was fun car a while, the things you pick up sometimes. I also love your philosophy of make another shed for more junk, the way operate sometimes, also take all the junk shoved in there and organize to fit more. Scott I love that even as you work so hard to put things back to right, you still can laugh about it. Thanks again to you and the gang for taking us along on your journey to save all junk, I mean artifacts, it's just about like being there, like my bud and I used to do hanging in his folks garage, hoisting a few Gennee Cream Ales and getting the extra buzz from lacquer painting his latest project.

The Fury is looking great. You're so right about fitting up a project being so important. So many really well done restorations are ruined by people not taking their time over trial fitting and adjusting things well before finishing it, with the result that what could be a really expensive and time-consuming project really doesn't stand up when looked at close, and sometimes even not that close. I know it must be tempting to rush that part as it's so close to the end of the project but it is absolutely critical to making a really great restoration rather than a merely good or adequate one...

We had a 1959 Plymouth station wagon with the 318 ci engine. It lasted many years in the Michigan winters. Keep up the good work! Yes, the straight eight challenge was excellent.

Its great watching this guy doing his rust repair resto work and panel replacement. Even shows the bracing required to stop the body sagging after cutting out sections. Especially liked watching the patching of sheet metal, much harder than it looks, thin automotive steel warps like mad when the heat from a MIG welder is applied incorrectly. Great stuff. Most folk would of chucked both those Furies, but choosing the best floor pan/chassis and sacrificing another junker for its best panels and parts to make a silk purse out of two pigs ears is a work of art. Waiting to see the body in the paint booth for the final trnsformation before fit up.

At this stage of assembly, the Fury bears a striking resemblance to a Great Horned Owl...a four eyed one, mind you... Very impressive!

well I must say that that pile of scrape you started with has come along way. I never thought you would get that boogered up hood up to snuff but your getting it to where there is hardly any crap work that was there almost gone, the skills that you show are truly outstanding your almost as good as my pap was. Keep up the fine and entertaining vids I like this you tube channel a lot.

I have been watching this channel for some time now, and it has become one of my favourites. Great set of blokes, great skills, and great humour. Straight 8 challenge was top class. I love the way you create something out of nothing. This Fury is going to be a fantastic car, but has been crafted from donor vehicles that, lets face it, were just going to rot into the soil and be lost forever. Cannot wait to see it painted!

The Fury has come a long way. It's lines look really nice. Theres so much detail in the fabrication. Great job Scott! Mr. Exner would be proud. The Citroen project is going to be quite interesting as well. You got some nice items in the buy you made too! It's always fun to see the different stuff as you sort through it. Had a lot of fun as always. Anxious to see the next video. Cheers!

I personally loved your straight 8 challenge. Please consider doing more quick challenges like that one. I never doubted that you guys would step up and give it your all. If you notice, very few people even questioned what the winner won. Absolutely love your videos. I watch and re watch and re watch.

Such a treat to see a '68 Citroen DS restore. Like watching an early Goddard film. Stylish with little semblance of plot but somehow enlightening.

I had a great idea. Why not have a drawing for people that buy your t-shirts or other goodies. The winner gets to come there, ride around in a few of your classics, and get to watch the group work on some cars.

The 60 Plymouth fins must be very close in size to 59 Cadillac fins. They're very impressive. Frankers has her share of time- it's always nice seeing her enjoying herself.

I was a total mess for three weeks while my computer was in the shop getting some new innards. When I got it back I was pleasantly surprised with the finish of the straight eight competition plus seen Peter Anderson on the show... he is very intelligent and made quite a appearance on the set. You did take his day to new levels of happiness. I really enjoyed that, Canadians have a distinct way of showing curtisee to our Australian neighbors and made them to home. I see why our two countries can't merge into a larger single country where we could travel among ourselves and literally enjoy the freedoms that you have as we are so greedy and want to control every measure of happiness people should enjoy regularly. We come on as being the land of freedom and giving but in reality or freedoms are being taken every day our congress is in session so that we will never know what we could enjoyed, should of enjoyed and could of had we paid attention and not gone for the cheeze just out of reach. Greed is our downfall and we say to ourselves like why do we need to sell it to us? We fought for not and gained hate and pilfering. AS a American I remain forever optimistic and neal for forgiveness. I hope that before I die, I see that. I am for all sake of words 73 now as my B., day is on the 29th. Forever a friend when ever you see or we meet.

Good to see the Plymouth again. Shout out to all the agents and to you Scott for all the hard work that goes into getting everything done, filmed , edited and uploaded for all us fans to see. Thank you.
