Been a Fuji guy for the last six year. People thought I was crazy but a guess they were wrong. Fuji listens to the consumer, and making chances and upgrades people like. Hands down for Fuji and there innovations, good repair service, feedback and so on. But....I bought the XH1 and everyone was stoked on the video quality and so on. Now it seems like an old artefact. I think people forget that because a new version arrives, doesn’t mean that the previous model is rubbish. I ask myself, does this make me a better photographer? I know subtle changes have been made, but does I really make me a better photographer. Just asking Keep up the good work Lee
For photography, the XH1 is still basically as good as anything else that Fuji has put out for image quality. It's mostly autofoucs and video features that they have really improved and added since.
Lee Zavitz I agree on that. My 2006 Leica M8.2 still produces fantastic images, so does my GFX and XH1 😊 Keep making those nice videos, you’re really good at it!
I just hope they listen to some reviews regarding the app. So much potential there. For example, could you imagine being able to save custom settings and profiles to your app and then pushing them to your other cameras (E.g if you have more than one or want to share with others)? Or more reliable WiFi so you can use your phone as a legit external display? Full disclosure - bought by XT4 preorder last night so just planting an idea.
Watching this in the morning is like doing yoga for other people. When this video came out I immediately liked but never watched it. Today is my day off and I will soak up every single video today :D
you have by far the best and the most objective review on youtube on this camera, as a Sony user looking to switch I've watched 20m reviews of this camera that said less than you with 7:52, keep up the good work
Nice coverage of this camera. As an X-T3 stills shooter mainly The X-T4 doesn't look like too great of an upgrade. There's some cool stuff but it's not a "jump ship" type of upgrade. But on the video side. MAN O MAN. Loving the upgrades. And the menus look SUPER AWESOME. I'm hoping they firmware that over to the X-T3. I think I'm going to pick one up for video. Great vid.
King! Like on the X100V launch, where you were the only one who showed the AF-C and eye AF improvements, you are also the only one with an XT4 launch video who has a USEFUL IBIS comparison vs the GH5. Keep up the great work.
Lee, THANK YOU so much for the GH5 / XT-4 IBIS comparison!!! I haven’t expected anyone doing that so early, but now I’m sold and will definitely buy this camera! Thank you! 🙏🏼
Lee what would be kool is ..is having continuous aperture just like continual autofocus ..what would be awesome for me anyway is having the blur stay consistent irrelevant if the subject is close or not ...I see when continuous autofocus is happening the blur either gets blurrier or less blurrier having that stay consistent for me would be really kool ..Dig that you are a Fuji and Sony user
yo lee, when i insert my videos to my editing software, only sound, video not show, think it says mov, my footages from sony camera is mp4,they show. im new to this cam, not sure wats up
Great video man! Straight to the point of showcasing the noteworthy improvements with the right amount of info. Def sold on upgrading my XT-3.. a lot of this is too good to pass up.
Thanks for the great review and the comparisons. I thought the IBIS in X-T4 wasn't too bad if you used a lens with OIS. However, in other reviews using lenses that weren't stabilized the footages were too jittery. I hope they will fix that. That would be the only reason I might choose this camera over the X-T3.
The value of this thing is mind blowing. Get this camera and a cheap prime and you're set for well under $2000. But then again even the X-T3 that is now dropping in price has increased its own value even more. I just saw one for $1199 brand new which is just amazing! Can't wait to test this thing out and compare it to my Sony gear. So far I rely so much on the AF from Sony but really like the files coming from Fuji as they don't need much post work
Well not really. Increased battery life and grip pretty much helps everyone out and the IBIS helps still shooters with lenses that have no stabilisation (a lot in the fuji line up) obtain better quality photos at lower ISO's and shutter speeds.
Pitcher Clothing The new battery is certainly a plus, but a lot of the other upgraded features really are centred around making the camera more video friendly (even if some of the features, by their nature, also benefit still shooters). I own 2 Fuji bodies, and I really can’t be too fussed about the XT4. Fuji’s product cycle is such that if you give it another year, an XT5 will come out with features that’re more worth the upgrade.
They should move the rear control wheel to the far right and place the AF ON button further to the right so that your thumb falls naturally on it while it's nestled in the thumb grip. I don't know why they can't get this right. On my Z6 it works perfectly. I don't have to move my thumb away from the thumb grip to press the AF ON button for BBF. This makes the camera feel so much more secure in the hand. This becomes all the more important with the smaller front grip on the X-T cameras. I love Fuji and miss shooting them, but until they rectify the ergonomics I'm happier with Nikon. BBF just felt awkward when I had the X-T3.
Looking good. Will be interesting to see how Fuji handles the batteries going forward. Anything xt/xh only for the new ones and everything else stuck with the smaller ones you think?
Hello. Thanks for all this info. I already have an XT2 which I am delighted with. I would like to switch to the XT4, but also having all the Nikon equipment, I hesitate between the XT4 and the Nikon Z7. What do you think ?
I think the USB "audio" jack is the biggest indicator for me, that there will be an XH2 which will aim directly at the more video-centric hybrid shooters.
You make such good Fuji reviews. And I know you’re not a Fuji shooter. That IBIS test is quite impressive. First test that has made me think it might be worth investing (I have the X-H1)
Thanks man. The ibis is a little better than the xh1 but you need to use an OIS lens to have the best experience. Now that I've had more time to shoot with it this what I've noticed
Lee, excellent basic summation of this camera. Thank you so much, especially for that IBIS comparison. The X-T4 acquits itself very well by comparison to what is arguably the best camera in this category. I loved shooting my X-H1--but sold it in expectation of the XT4 (actually, I would have preferred an X-H2, but this will do.) Looking at the IBIS comparison makes me feel I can now sell my GH5, because I'll be getting a camera to replace it with equal IBIS and better color science. Hmmm. I just wonder how well the IBIS works with non-electronic third party lenses? I do a LOT of hand held shooting video with vintage lenses. Am I going to buy one??? Well...YEA! I just placed my order with B&H last night. Thanks again.
Lee Zavitz what about aperture, if you want a different aperture for movie and stills, what happens when you change between the two? Is it like the XH1 where you have to change the aperture on the touch screen if you want it to save the setting (“silent movie mode”)? Thanks in advance!
I am confused to buy Panasonic S5 over XT-4 , if am into 90% photography the. Which one will ..suite me ... Also won't be upgrading to new Body in next 5 years. Your opinion?
Great review. I particularly liked seeing the comparison of the IBIS versus the GH5, and in my view it looked better. So now this is definitely the better video camera because of the autofocus (and several other things). I do have a question for you: for a user whose primary needs are video, which of the two kit lenses would you recommend? 18-55mm f2.8-4, or for $100 more, the 16-80mm f4. I ordered mine with the latter, and will likely add three wide aperture prime lenses for low light, if I end up liking the camera enough to keep it. (I'm currently a Sony shooter, with a GH5 because of color science and 4K 60p.) Thanks!
If shooting video with the grip, will video stop recording when one of the batteries dies? Also, is there a crop when shooting 4K and / or high speed video?
Excellent video! Keep up the quality content. How do you feel about pairing it with a gimbal with IBIS on? I've been struggling to understand if it would be glitchy with both on.
Is there any way to slow down the AF motor speed? One of the things I love about Sony and canon cameras is being the able to slow it down for smooth racks and pulls.
Yeah I really wanna get some portrait shoots in with this camera and shoot more video. I just didn’t have a lot of time before this video needed to be out. Hopefully Fuji can let me keep the camera a little longer or at least get it back in soon to work on a full review
I'm glad u did the side by side with the GH5, as that's what this camera is gonna be compared to, since they both shoot 10-bit aswell, and that was Panasonic's best camera.
Video focus is still in the Sony a6000/a6300 generation level but rest of features are definitely class-leading. Also, thanks for comparing it to the GH5.
Great review. That IBIS comparison with the GH5 sure was interesting. I have ordered mine; can’t wait for its arrival. Hope that the Corona virus doesn’t screw things up☹️
*TLDR* As a hobbyist looking to buy my very first camera, the X-T4 ticks all my boxes. Do you believe this camera will be too steep of a learning curve for me or is it a great all-around piece of equipment for beginners as well? Should I look for an older, cheaper model? Some Background: I've been filming using Moment lenses on my iphone with Filmic Pro and a DJI Osmo for about 2 years now and have novice experience with color grading in Resolve and editing with FCPX. I feel I've outgrown the limitations of my phone and that having a true camera would be more fun to shoot with in general, so I'm ready to splurge on some gear. As someone with zero experience using DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, or point-and-shoots (so any real camera for that matter), I'm excited about the entire learning process and just getting out into the field to start shooting. I plan on shooting 60% video, 40% photography (primarily cinematography, travel videos, landscapes and cityscapes), so I want a solid hybrid. I'd also shoot sports, snowboarding, and skateboarding for my friends. I don't ever see myself vlogging. I've been researching for about 3 weeks now (hours and hours of comparison videos) and I've narrowed it down to the GH5, Z50, A6600, and X-T4. (the newest in their respective lines currently). A lot of people would say these might be an overkill for my needs and that the older models like an X-T2, A6300 or G85 would suffice, and of course be much cheaper. The X-T30 was very appealing because having a small form factor is a big factor for me. Originally I was only comparing the Sony RX100 VII and Fuji X100V which seem more than capable for my needs, but I didn't like the idea of never being able to upgrade the system should I develop a deeper passion and want interchangeable lenses to improve my skillset. Full-frame is out of the picture because of form factor, mostly due to the size (and price!) of those lenses. ASP-C is more than enough for me. With all that being said, I know how the old saying goes: A camera is only as good as its photographer (or something like that lol). I also know the glass is just as important, if not more important than the body. I plan on using the camera with its kit lens for about a year, and then buy primes over time when I see fit. My total budget for the camera, kit lens, and accessories (tripod, extra batteries, grip) is $2,000-$2,500. This will always be my "A" cam, using my phone as a B cam if necessary. Ideally, if I have money left over, I'd love to get a mavic mini or an Insta360 One R eventually. Two people recommended the Black Magic Pocket 4K because of all the time I spend talking about video, but landscape and cityscape photography are important to me as well so I'd prefer having one camera that can do it all. Odds are, the majority will recommend I start with something cheap and upgrade over time as I learn the basics (when to use iso, shutter, exposure, aperture, etc. in different environments), get to know the advanced features of the camera, and understand my specific needs for my lifestyle. However, I consider myself a quick learner and am no stranger to tech. When I choose my package, I plan on sticking with it for years to come - I want something future-proof, and never want to run into a situation when I say "Man, I could really use X feature right now" on a trip. My videos will probably only be posted to RUclips and my pictures to instagram, and though I'll likely never use the camera for professional use, I'm unfortunately a perfectionist - I always want to produce the highest quality content possible for my friends and family and surprise myself with my own capabilities in the meantime. I'm excited to take my video editing skills to the next level and learn all the capabilities and effects in FCPX, but that becomes a much more enjoyable process when you have stellar footage. I'm 80% sold on the X-T4 because it has everything I could possibly need: flip screen, IBIS, 4k60fps, 240fps slo-mo, 10-bit internal, 4:2:0 video, increased battery life, decent autofocus just behind sony and panasonic but always improving with firmware, and lack of rolling shutter (main reason for avoiding A6600). I also love Fuji's cameras for the aesthetic look and feel of the dials, and many people have said its the best setup for beginners. I'd just like somebody to convince me to close that remaining 20% gap of uncertainty ~OR~ warn me if I'm making a poor impulse decision for wanting the best of the best... because currently I'm overwhelmed! Cheers.
Hi, I've seen reports of the X-T4 overheating really quickly when shooting 4K video. Did this happen to you? It's quite bothersome seeing that the X100V is showing the same thing, overheats super fast, even when just browsing the menus.
I never had it happen to either cameras. Even when I used the x100v to record over 30mins of my talking head parts for the review. As for the xt4 I also never have any overheating issues. But I honestly never sat them down an continuously recorded more than 30mins over and over again to see if it would.
I’m pumped for this release! But I’m not excited about having to carry 2 different battery types because I’m still gonna rock the XT3 as my 2nd body and sell the A7iii I haven’t touched I nearly a year
Hello Lee ... yesssss .... I planning get a Fuji x-t4 this year. I changed last year from canon to fuji. I started with a Pentax ME super many years ago and the Fuji is for me the best. So, I will extend my equipment. Great review thanks so much from Germany. I have a question. I look for a gimbal for my fuji x-t3. I didn´t found a newer review this time. What do you mean to the weebill s? Your mind is interessting for me. Greetings Joachim
Gotta give props to the GH5 image quality. The XT4 was slightly under exposed which could account for better color in the sky, but otherwise, m43 was holding its own.
MateuszTraktorzysta ah true. I remember that on my gh5 but all the other ports where in the way. It was nice they put the mic jack up that high. Maybe there wasn’t enough room on the xt4 to do the same.
So wait for this or grab a EOS R and prepare for the R5? Which would you do if you had to get something to hold ya down till the camera ships. & why didn't they include the Sub LCD screen from the X-H1 inside of the battery grip? It's literally the right size to put it. (1DX). People would buy the grip for that alone.
There is a shot at the start I did hand held at half a second. Half a second hand held is as good as I could get. Anything else and I started to notice blur. It’s pretty good.
I'm really excited to release my NEW high-quality Lightroom Presets! They are the same ones I use on my edits! Find them here: ClassicPorts.com
The GH5 IBIS test is dope. X-T4(ever)!
THANK YOU for the GH5 IBIS comparison, really what I (and a lot of people) were looking for!
Yeah very impressive and surprising too 👍
Been a Fuji guy for the last six year. People thought I was crazy but a guess they were wrong. Fuji listens to the consumer, and making chances and upgrades people like. Hands down for Fuji and there innovations, good repair service, feedback and so on.

Keep up the good work Lee

Lee Zavitz I agree on that. My 2006 Leica M8.2 still produces fantastic images, so does my GFX and XH1 😊 Keep making those nice videos, you’re really good at it!
It says right on the spec sheet it adds +10 skill points to photography 😁

0:08 You can tell how Lee’s face is so happy and excited about this new beast
Can you show how it works with the Fringer Pro II with the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8?
Will have to wait for a fringer firmware update. I tried it and it works. But once there is an update will be better
That IBIS is impressive, didn't think it would be that good.
Got mine a couple weeks ago, been loving it so far. Gotta get a first impressions video up myself
Watching this in the morning is like doing yoga for other people. When this video came out I immediately liked but never watched it. Today is my day off and I will soak up every single video today :D

Wonderful video man! I’ve been let down by a lot of the X-T4 videos and this was on point!
Thanks Lee! Great review... thinking of upgrading from A6400 to this

I’m super pumped for more X-T4 content from you ❤️🔥
Lee you look so happy!
lol
Do you prefer this over the Sony for cinematic video?
Great video! Will pick up 3 asap... 1 for video and 2 for stills... Redundance is king!
I still shoot cinematic videos on my xt3. Still a beast of a camera. The xt4 is too tempting. Thanks for sharing this video! Very informative!
The weather protection is the same as the xt3 too. And they will upgrade the xt3 focus as the xt4 on a new filmwear.

Great review man. The first video I've seen from you and really enjoyed it! Subscribed! Keep crushing it!
Best X-T4 review until now with some nice spec details of the camera that no one else mentioned.
the only thing I was missing from panasonic cameras was IBIS, finally has come to fuji, time to upgrade my XT3!.
#whoneedsagimbal
So it’s basically an XT3 that’s been slightly tuned to make videos a little more easily.
Great review! I’m glad I didn’t wait for this camera!
Well not really. Increased battery life and grip pretty much helps everyone out and the IBIS helps still shooters with lenses that have no stabilisation (a lot in the fuji line up) obtain better quality photos at lower ISO's and shutter speeds.

BBF just felt awkward when I had the X-T3.
rolling shutter at @3:09 is it same as XT3? - WW
Hi. Is there 4.2.2 10 bit inbody in any mode?
This camera looks so good! I really want to try this camera out. great job, thanks!
Solid, as usual.
;)
Thanks for this, man.
The IBIS comparison with the Panasonic was pretty sweet.
I'm keen on watching the full review ;)
that classic negative is nice look
Looking good. Will be interesting to see how Fuji handles the batteries going forward. Anything xt/xh only for the new ones and everything else stuck with the smaller ones you think?
Which would you choose for filmmaking, between GH5 and X-t4? Thanks!
Next video let's focus on that shoe more. Crushed it man! The stills turned out great too.
Upgrading my X-T3 and EOS R to X-T4 and EOS R5! 2020 FTW!
xt3s? you think the xt2 to xt3 was more significant?
How good is it in sport and what do you compare it with?
It looks very nice price better than the a7siii. Is it very compact?? Is this for a beginner?
I’m considering this as a third camera, currently shooting on a XT3 and a X100V. Would my images match (mostly) if I shoot this alongside my XT3?
super thorough vid Lee!!
Thx Kitty :)
Lee Zavitz okay cool, well Fuji are a bit short on OIS lenses. I think I’m gonna hold out for the X-H2. I think it’s going to be a beast.
Lee, excellent basic summation of this camera. Thank you so much, especially for that IBIS comparison. The X-T4 acquits itself very well by comparison to what is arguably the best camera in this category.
I loved shooting my X-H1--but sold it in expectation of the XT4 (actually, I would have preferred an X-H2, but this will do.)

Am I going to buy one??? Well...YEA! I just placed my order with B&H last night.
Thanks again.
When in video mode, can I use the front and rear wheels to adjust ISO and SS independently of the dials?
Yep. It’s how I have the camera always set even for photos. You get all the inbetween increments you don’t get from the top dials.
Lee Zavitz what about aperture, if you want a different aperture for movie and stills, what happens when you change between the two? Is it like the XH1 where you have to change the aperture on the touch screen if you want it to save the setting (“silent movie mode”)? Thanks in advance!
@@LeeZavitz It's mainly a thing for me as I usually use a cage and can't operate the ISO dial during use.
which one should I buy - Fujifilms XT4 or sony A7||| ? , please suggest , thanks in advance
Nice review, thank you. love and also own this camera
How are the audio pre-amps on this thing? Any improvements? And how they stack up to a GH5 for example?
Hi, quick question. Is it better compared to Sony A7III for shooting some B Roll videos? Thanks in advance
Both are good but xt4 has higher bitrate and 4k 60p. A7iii has better autofocus and better in low light
Am waiting for your xt-4 video ....
Finally...❤
People actually say 'I can't take photos without ibis'?...
What a snowflake time to be alive.
Yeah I couldn’t believe my ears
Marc D where?
Old people...disabled people...yeah why not
Yes its moronic.
AdviceColumn 🙄
What filter lens is at the end of his lens?
Great, witch filter did you use on the lens of the xt4 in the video?
What's the filter set up you've got on the lens there?
Rich just a tiffen variable Nd
Can I ask what is the filter you put in front of the lens?
Great Work-Awesome review Lee
I am confused to buy Panasonic S5 over XT-4 , if am into 90% photography the. Which one will ..suite me ... Also won't be upgrading to new Body in next 5 years. Your opinion?
Hi I just got the X-T4, I heard some noise in the camera body, is this normal because it has IBIS?
Same thing here. It's really high pitch, like a processor. And only in stills mode. In playback and movie mode it's gone. Any news on that since then?
Great review. I particularly liked seeing the comparison of the IBIS versus the GH5, and in my view it looked better. So now this is definitely the better video camera because of the autofocus (and several other things). I do have a question for you: for a user whose primary needs are video, which of the two kit lenses would you recommend? 18-55mm f2.8-4, or for $100 more, the 16-80mm f4. (I'm currently a Sony shooter, with a GH5 because of color science and 4K 60p.) Thanks!
I wonder if some of these software upgrades are coming to Xpro 3 and XT3 since it appears the sensor is the same.
There will be a xt3 uptade in summer - maybe even earlier
Hannes Sassenberg Awesome, I have the Xpro 3 so hoping some of those features are included.
If shooting video with the grip, will video stop recording when one of the batteries dies?
Also, is there a crop when shooting 4K and / or high speed video?
Tony Reidsma 4k 60 still has crop. And 240 has a bigger crop.
Excellent video! Keep up the quality content. How do you feel about pairing it with a gimbal with IBIS on? I've been struggling to understand if it would be glitchy with both on.
Hey Lee is it possible to turn the ibis off without having to dig through allot of menu's?
Is there any way to slow down the AF motor speed? One of the things I love about Sony and canon cameras is being the able to slow it down for smooth racks and pulls.
Yes you can. On the X-T3 too.
4K 60p with crop 1.18 or without crop for full frame?
👍🏾 can’t wait to see more
Are you going to get black or silver?
I was waiting for your review! And now I'm waiting for your full review lol
Yeah I really wanna get some portrait shoots in with this camera and shoot more video. I just didn’t have a lot of time before this video needed to be out. Hopefully Fuji can let me keep the camera a little longer or at least get it back in soon to work on a full review
Very nice overview! The camera looks great! It would be nice if an external charger was included with the camera.
Here in Australia I can buy a A73 for $300 cheaper.. what do I do??
I'm glad u did the side by side with the GH5, as that's what this camera is gonna be compared to, since they both shoot 10-bit aswell, and that was Panasonic's best camera.

3:32 why shoot @18mm on GH5 and @23 mm on fuji?
Different sensor sizes
dang I love ur video. so chill man
haha thanks
You make that $400 kit lens look amazing.
It is amazing
@@LeeZavitz Was this 4K, 10bit, with the X100V?
I’m pumped for this release! But I’m not excited about having to carry 2 different battery types because I’m still gonna rock the XT3 as my 2nd body and sell the A7iii I haven’t touched I nearly a year
“What’s up guys. I got a brand new video for you today...”. We love hearing that 😊
Lol it’s my go to since forever
I’m getting one! Sold it for me Lee!
I think this might have sold me too 🤦🏻♂️
Hello Lee ... yesssss ....
Hi. Can you move the focus area with AEL active on the XT4? Or is it locked like on all the other older FUJIFILM cameras?
Yes, was waiting your take on XT4! Which would you get, wait for R5 or XT4? both? 😅
Wait and see how much the R5 costs. My guess is that it will cost 3 xt4’s lol. I’m still so anxious to find out how much it will be
1 big problem - can't rotate screen when put mic on camera 😒
MateuszTraktorzysta yes you can. Flip it out 90degrees and then rotate it out. This is common with all flip screen cameras
@@LeeZavitz no all flip screen cameras, GH series have mic input much higher and you can rotate in all range canon apsc cameras to.
MateuszTraktorzysta ah true. I remember that on my gh5 but all the other ports where in the way. It was nice they put the mic jack up that high. Maybe there wasn’t enough room on the xt4 to do the same.
Picked up the xt30 instead of the xt3 last year just for this moment.
Xt30 is a dope camera
Lee Zavitz - the BEST RUclipsr ever made 😍😎
So wait for this or grab a EOS R and prepare for the R5? Which would you do if you had to get something to hold ya down till the camera ships. & why didn't they include the Sub LCD screen from the X-H1 inside of the battery grip? It's literally the right size to put it. (1DX). People would buy the grip for that alone.
What the video recording limit on the xt4.
Wait im confused. XT 3 also has 4k 60 right?
correct
wow - that IBIS looks really good.
So NO IBIS on taking a photo is that correct?
There is a shot at the start I did hand held at half a second. Half a second hand held is as good as I could get. Anything else and I started to notice blur. It’s pretty good.
@@LeeZavitz Thanks and great video by the way!
