Oh it is. My ostomy nurse told me about it when I first got my stoma. I have really sensitive skin and it’s honestly saved my peristomal area from so much burning, bleeding, and denuding. It made all the difference. Do you use the Coloplast adhesive remover spray? I know there are a few different brands that have them and I’ve only tried the Coloplast version.
Hi! The Hollister two piece is the only one I’m able to easily connect to my wafer. It has a circle ridge that I can get my thumbs under to work around to connect the two pieces together. Thank you so much for your videos. 💕
Great video. I also love unboxing my stuff when I get It. I also use the #10471 bags. I use the Hollister rings. My insurance doesn't cover a lot of my products. 2 boxes of bags, 2 boxes of rings, and 1 boxes of skin care wipes that makes my skin kind of sticky so my bag sticks better to my skin. As always love your videos. Keep them coming. See yeah on the next video.
Thank you so much, Robert! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it. It's so frustrating that insurance doesn't cover more ostomy supplies. To me, they are just as necessary as any other prescription. Those wipes sound great! What are they called? I'd love to give them a shot, because I also struggle with getting a bag to stick.
OMG me too! It's funny because getting a prescription or something is never as thrilling. Ostomy bags are more than just medical tools--they're also our most important accessory! Glad to hear that your unboxings get you going too. 😊
How r u in may 2023. I one week ago had my surgery. I have learned a lot watching you. Hope all is well n your graduates soon. Blessing n prayers for you. From Maine
Freya and Valkyrie say thank you very much! They love getting compliments, lol. I'm lucky to have them...and I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. I get so excited whenever I get new supplies in the mail, so it was really fun to share the joy with all of you.
I really enjoyed this video and you showed me sure seal and I ordered my free sample. I am so appreciative of that because I’m always trying to concoct something to go swimming and it never quite works. It always fails and leaks. I was using like Tegaderm squares that are made for IVs and I was cutting them and trying to put them around my bag wafer, but they always wound up leaking because you’re kind of breaking the seal when you cut them in half. So I’m super excited to receive the ring with the square because then I can set another diagonal and it’ll work perfectly with the COLOPLAST one piece bag and I can go swimming without worrying. I’m so excited thank you again for this video I know it was a couple years ago but I’m just seeing it now
Hi there, Rosemary! I'm sorry that Byram doesn't have them. That's actually why I stopped using Byram...I couldn't find a lot of products I wanted to try on their site. I use Edgepark (www.edgepark.com) for my ostomy supplies. The selection on Edgepark is much, much better...plus I think they are more convenient when it comes to insurance. As for finding the Sure Seal Rings, they are available on Amazon at www.amazon.com/Sure-Seal-Ring-Medium-Square/dp/B00HGPBFRY. You could try ordering them there and then submitting the receipt to your insurance company. I hope you can try them--they've saved me from leaking more times than I can count. Best of luck!
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag My insurance won't accept Edgepark or Liberator. But I just got off the phone with the Byram rep in my area and he said that Byram carries them but it missed the catalog. So I am going to try again! Thank you!!
Oh great! I’m so glad you found them...good idea to call the company. I’ll have to try that next time I can’t find something. I really hope they work for you!
Hi Cecily.....Great Informative Video...... Thank You.....I took in a lot of information from your products so I have an idea of what I want for my next Coloplast Order😀😀😀😀......I also wanted to tell you, this past Sunday (9/20/20) I had yet another prolapse while I was at work 😢😢😢😢.....long story short on 9/23/20 my surgeon added Biological Mesh to hold Stanley(my stoma) in place against my abdominal wall...I am having a really hard recovery from this surgery but I am ELATED to be out of the hospital 😀😀😀😀....if you or any of your followers have had this procedure done can you please tell me if you had any complications? Thank You Cecily for your Informative video....I have sensitive skin as well and I want to try the one piece because my stoma is smaller in size now and not much is hanging out.
It's so great to hear from you! Gosh, I'm really sorry you've been struggling so much with Stanley prolapsing, but at least he's back in place with some extra support. I hope with all my heart that this is the last procedure you'll need for a while. The recovery for abdominal operations is a long and arduous process--I know that first hand. Please rest and take it as easy as possible so the muscles around the mesh don't get too stressed. While I've never personally had meshing done, some of the most common complications include pain, infections, and adhesions. Please keep a close eye on your body temperature for a little while, as a high fever could be a bad sign. Hopefully you'll have a speedy recovery with no infection or swelling. There's not much you can do to prevent adhesions--but you should keep a close eye on your stoma and output. If the stoma color changes to dark, dusky, or purple, please tell your surgeon ASAP! If your output stops for a long time and is accompanied by extreme bowel pain, you may have an obstruction and also should tell your doctors if that happens. However, these operations are usually pretty safe and you should be okay after the pain gets better. Again, I'm so sorry for all you've been through but your proactive treatment of Stanley is the best thing you can do as a patient. It warms my heart that you enjoyed the video and got some good tips! I'll be praying for you and Stanley. ❤️❤️❤️
Great video! Love your puns and sense of humor! I’m getting my colostomy in 2 weeks… I’m very excited. I’m thinking of storage for all of these supplies. I think you said you keep 3 months worth on hand. How much storage do you need? What has worked for you? I also have sensitive skin and allergic to most adhesives so I’m pretty nervous about this permanent bandaid on my skin for the rest of my life. What brands/products are best? Thank you for your time!
Hi Jill! I'm so sorry that your comment has eluded me...how did the operation go?!? I hope I can still be of help--as for storage, I usually keep all my supplies in a cabinet in my bathroom. I'd say that you should section out about two large shelves at least for all your supplies. It's great to keep them in your bathroom if possible (just for convenience) but you can really keep them anywhere. As for the sensitive skin issue, I found that Coloplast had the best adhesives for my sensitive skin. I'd start there and experiment with products that work for you. Your ostomy nurse is going to be an invaluable resource for you in choosing the right products. If the problem isn't improved by trying new bags, you could consider asking your nurse or doctor for an antihistamine to help with the allergy. Please let me know how you're doing...thinking of you! 💕
@@jillwilson8212 oh my goodness! I'm praying that you have a smooth surgery free of complications. As someone who's been in your shoes, I can say that a better life awaits you on the other side. You're so brave to be taking this step with courage and positivity. I've found that attitude is half the battle in recovery...so I have great faith that you'll be an ostomy pro in no time 💕

I prefer the closed pouch cause don't have two worry about the bag opening and dumping and the smell in the house or other people's house
Brilliant video thanks. Can you have more than one different bag at a time then with your delivery. You know a bit of a mix
