I am a classical guitarist. This music touches my heart just as much as any beautifully written music. I love humans. The munificent creation -- reflection of God.

Baayo (Orphan) is the most soulful African ballad of all time. It goes straight to one's heart and invokes teary eyes. Baaba at his ultimate best.
Une super stars légende long vie à vous baaba mal depuis fouta djallon guinea 🇬🇳 on vous aime très fort doyen poulakou yesso
Il a une voix magique.🇲🇱
Such a hauntingly melancholic song. It was written during a difficult time in his life and though most cannot understand the lyrics, we can feel the emotions in his voice as he laments the passing of someone was no longer in his life, his mother. I haven't heard this song in about twenty years. For some reason I just had to hear it again. He is deservingly amongst the best of contemporary west African poets and musicians.
thats wild bro, my grandpa passed not to long ago and i heard this song, and it kept me at peace with that, i didnt even know what baaba was singing about. its crazy how music and emotion can do this to a person huh
Merci baaba maal la fierté des sénégalais je vous j'adore beaucoup 👏👏👏
I am crying, this is too beautiful.... singing from the soul
Hello, i tried to translate the lyrics. Excuse me if it has mistakes cause my english isn't the best.
"May God make me a golden bird Mariaama (that's the name of a pigeon).
I will fly until I land on our territory: the city of Doyhraa.
May God fulfill my wishes:
Have a long life and be lucky overall.
In this case, I will live well with my friends.
In this case, I will live well with my relatives.
Once upon a time, I was in France.
I was in search of wisdom and knowledge.
Until one day I received a call from Senegal.
I returned to Dakar (capital of Senegal), I found that my mother was deceased.
Baayo, baayo, baayo (that's how we call an orphan in Peulh)
Baayo, baay, baayo, baayo.
Mom, mom, my dear mother
Daddy, daddy, my dear father
Mom, mom, my dear mother
Daddy, daddy, my dear father
Baayo, baayo, baayo
Oh you tender-hearted mother,
Father full of pity.
Mother, mother, mother Aissata Samba Boubou Yassine Wade (full name of his mother) mother of Fatou, Mamma, and Laye Maal
The mother of Thilo, Ndeye Khar, Ndeye Gueye, and Baba Maal"
You faithfully and greatly translate it thanks you too much

The song is about how on one fateful day he received a call from the motherland stating his mother has passed and buried! He wish if he could turn into pigeon or turtle dove he would have flown back home to be next to his family!

Forgive me, but what exactly is celtic about Baaba Maal? Are the multiculturalist liberals running this festival too? Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against african music, on the contrary, I just think it's as out of place here as celtic music would be at a festival for African music. It's like forcing AOR pop on the audience at a heavy metal festival. If people want AOR pop, they will attend an AOR pop festival. If people want african music. they will go to an african music festival. People neither want nor need to be force fed music they didn't ask for.
+MatsDagerlind its called fusion and its quite good to my celtic ears
B
Dont go to the celtic ,if they play African music, you can take a bathroom break. But I tell you, that the world is coming together as one.as predicted long time ago in the holy books.New world order,a new socialism.Hey and btw,I am from Kenya and Baaba maal is from West Africa,I even dont understand his language but appreciate the art.In addition ,when you talk of celtic,I can tell you Solas and Gaelic storm, what you thought i dont know.so i found out that it is all about your love for music and interests that has never picked up.
stfu, let people be and enjoy the music.
Celtic and african music are pretty much the SAME. You silly prick.
