I was lucky enough to be introduced to Leo whilst on a cable car at Val. He was the nicest, most incredibly humble dude imaginable. Stoked to just be talking about skiing and his career. Even got to chase him and his friends around for a lap. He pointed out a big lip, squawked like an rabid seagull and proceeded to lay out the steeziest backflip I’ve ever seen. He vanished around a ridge and that was the last I saw of him.
This dude sounds like a fever dream to ski with lmao

Nothing like knowing the mountain like its your own back yard.. Because it is!!!!... In the early 90s we lived in an old 60s ski house.. Anywhere between 12 to 20 people sleeping there and all very skilled skiers... (Not as good as this kid).. But we were some of the best living up in Breckenridge at that time.... We had a dozen or so lines that we skied this aggressively minus the bck flip (Cant lie.. Nobody was pulling those off bck then).. But banging off a fallen tree or a rock ledge was all part of the day.. (Again Granting the conditions were right).. The last run of the day would consist of a nice cruise with some great lines through the woods dwn through a small rock garden then up and right onto the deck of our house that we had removed a couple of sections of railings in the fall so we could ski rght from mountain rght to house and jump into the hot tub... Lolol.. The reason I'm writting this is to inspire as many kids as possible to GO FOR IT AND DO IT!!!.. If you keep thinking of moving out West and living the ski lifestyle... DO IT!!!.. JST FIND A WAY AND DO IT!!!.. Because the only way you will make this kinda run a reality is if you life work and play on a mountain and get the best conditions of the year to do it... Im now on my mid 40s and have No regrets because I made it happen in my youth... DO IT... MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!..

Did my season here. This is the "Hidden Valley" in Val D'isere, France. Never seen anyone ride it at that speed before!

Sure it's not supposed to be a fast run but if you have to stop be considerate and move over as much as you can to the side like the guys did near the end. Everytime I try to make a trail fast I get yelled at by ski patrol.

Because he lands on a slope not much of the impact energy is on his legs, a lot more of it becomes kinetic energy which speeds him up

1:16 how tf do you land a jump that high?! I would’ve broken every bone in my body...like I legit wanna know
If you land on the flat yes, you'll break everything since the shock will be most of your kinetic energy in a very short time.
But if the reception is somewhat in line with the direction of your fall, the energy you have to dissipate can be quite small, the hard part in this case is arriving at the right speed to land on the slope and not falling while landing from a jump at this speed, not the shock itself. I'm clearly not on this guy level but I've done far easier jumps that were this long (with much more leeway on speed and direction).
This also explains why people who do parkour roll when they land from high points, or why your safety belt is somewhat elastic and will partially tear off : it's not going fast that kills you, it's stopping too suddenly.
Actually super awesome comment, I’m going skiing this spring break (despite everyone and their moms saying not to travel due to Corona) so I’ll keep this in account if I try something slightly less intimidating but similar in style. 🤙 Wish me RIP
