Chord progressions in Ableton are super easy to do with the 3 formulas mentioned. You can use these formulas as a base to start creating more complex chord progressions. One of Ableton 11 new features is the scale mode in the piano roll and this can be super helpful for scale navigation if you get stuck. After this video, you won't have to use any midi pack to help you with chords and no more looking for free midi packs either!

Thanks man! Really appreciate you watching it bro!
Very usefull tutorial thanks! I get these chord progressions. How do you go about when you want to add extra notes on top of the chords? Like to make your own signature sound in there?
I’ll do a video on this!
how do you drop the notes down to the correct spot so fast when doing the inversions on the second half?
Shift + arrow down. Sorry for the late response!
Here's how I make chords on Ableton Live. I use the fingers of both of my hands to simultaneously stack (mostly) thirds on a piano keyboard.
hi how to make EB minor?
Honestly to remember your scales you just gotta remember the whole and half stuff.
Major: W W H W W W H
Minor: W H W W H W W
Or
(In tones and semitones)
Major: T T S T T T S
Minor: T S T T S T T
Once you got this down your good to go.
Thanks for the quality tutorials, what equipment and software do you use to make them, please?
I have a Macbook pro, OBS a Scarlett 2i2 Interface and a Rode mic. I'm struggling to configure everything and get a quality production like this, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey thanks man!
Sure it’s a bit of big one haha….
So I also use a MacBook Pro which is linked to my uad Apollo and some other outboard gear. For screen capture I’m using camtasia. My mic is a rode procaster.
The way I record is like this:
My rode procaster is connected externally to a zoom h4n pro with a fet head. Once it is recorded I process it in Logic Pro x and then take it into fcpx where I sync the AV stuff.
My camera is recording myself with another rode camera on top of if it (I do not use this audio it’s only for syncing in fcpx and potentially used as a back up mic)
My camtasia is screen recording and capturing audio from my laptop.
And that’s everything!
I can record direct through my uad console via sound flower but I prefer to record my voice out externally 🤷♂️
Hope this helps mate!
Manny
@@NXISEWOLF Amazing thank you so much for the detailed reply, really really appreciate it. My head is fried trying to work this stuff out haha ;)
You’re welcome! I know it can be a little frustrating. If you need more help just let me know and I’m sure I can help you out a little!
@@NXISEWOLF You're a star bro, thanks again. Subscribed. Been making techno and house and just moved to Africa (from Hartlepool) and heard some dope ass beats in the clubs. Hip hop, trap, Amapiano, Dancehall, Afrobeats....I've been loving it all so I'm now experimenting with all these different styles taking influences from them all and mashing them up. Looking forward to seeing how your channel expands.
Do you do tutorial requests?
@@NXISEWOLF Thank you so much.
How long roughly would it take to edit a one hour long tutorial, into say 10 separate 6 minute tutorials with a very basic title. Nothing flash just an audio balance and clean up then separated into 10 to create a miniature training course I'm working on. I just want a rough idea so I can find a freelancer and offer them an honest price for their work.
Thank you and best wishes bro.
When the set is Dark Mode but Ableton isn't 😭😭😭
Can we get a tutorial with dark theme next time light sucks! 😣
I was following great until you dropped all the notes down then I got lost...the 3/4 went out the door :( I'm struggling here
How about name them tone tone tone semitone....
I dont think all keys are semitones
All keys are semi tones away from each other…when we look at tone tone semi etc they are associated with scales . I have got an excellent video on this on my RUclips channel. Give it a watch. :)
@@NXISEWOLF so..... from B to C we have a semitone instead a tone?
@@AlfaOmega2201 yes that’s correct. A tone away from a B will be a C# if going up in pitch. If you are doing down in pitch, a tone away from a B would be an A. Little confusing I know, but it’s pretty simple once you get the hang of it bro.
