One of the more significant changes able to be seen in this match is new WoodNose. You all may know it as one of the more awkward and extremely underused Chips in vanilla BN5. It's been changed so that it simply uses the WuNote Virus attack. Three bushes spawn, and the one in front of your opponent will attack. The remaining bushes left behind stay for 240 frames and then despawn, even though they have 1HP just like the Virus. It's currently a bit slower than I'd like, but feedback about the new function has been a resounding positive.
In the current build, yes. This is a result of me adding mechanical changes such as Wind Chips, Static included, causing Barrier Delete, as well as a few other things. I don't intend to remove him from the scene entirely, but he needs to be put down a notch or two, mainly with Static itself and the AI allowing essentially a free guaranteed comeback due to vanilla's algorithms on DarkChip draws, namely DarkRecov being more likely to appear when the CustomScreen is opened when you are on low HP (guaranteed with Berserk). He's very tricky to balance.
In BBN5, no. I have it so that neither using DarkChips or going Berserk (both lower your max HP permanently in vanilla) cause this permanent loss anymore, reflective of BN6 Beast Link Gate DarkChips. The reason for this is because it becomes kind of a mess legality-wise since 997 is the actual maximum HP in vanilla BN5 for DarkMega's base HP. It was decided to do this to make things simpler and reduce the argument over something silly and having to backup and wipe saves if your Max HP goes too low a threshold.
@@ghostlymire I haven't played serious PVP Battle Network since the games were new and we were stuck doing local with friend meetups, but I am unbelievably excited watching these BBN5 videos. Would it be possible to read a list of patch notes or changes just to see the differences between vanilla and BBN5? I've noticed some of the changes in passing (Meddy appears to have damage lowered but healing added, akin to Roll), but having to decipher the more complex ones has been difficult. Keep up the good work!
@@nomnomly as Bunyeast mentioned, ChinaTV has provided the changelog in the video description. I appreciate your feedback. I'm trying to be faithful so that a lot of these changes look incredibly natural and feel good to use, while ironing out uncompetitive elements/strategies. For example, MagnetSoul as of the build shown in this footage is still like vanilla, and that is going to change. This is because in vanilla, there is a way to perform "MagLock" by alternating uses of the Charged Shot (With ChargeMAX ideally) and the < + B ability with moving back and forth on 2 of your panels, causing your opponent to be stunlocked in a loop as long as the combo is kept up. It's a bit strict on timing, but by no means frame perfect, and can be feasibly done with practice. This kind of strategy is something I'd like to move past.

@8:51 Dark Players sharing a single brain cell between themselves 😂
Is DarkMega the best overall strategy in BBN5?
