Stop loss is so important. But I will never again set it and walk away. Been blown thru 3 times. I like Sykes method... set mental stop losses and stick to them but dont set it and leave. Fool me once, twice... but never again will I set it and forget it. I may do it on swings but never on DT's. Great video. Thanks again Time. Love your video trainings.
Thanks for the video Tim ! This is one of my weak points and i started waiting for stocks with good Rvol and it helped but this is great info from you for us all to remember!
Great Video. I've learned this approach from you and I use it to set my stop limit, limit sales order and target (goal). I use you process with the Oracle S&R levels available with the STT Platform. Yes, you can draw your own S&R lines, buy Why? Use the Oracle Tool with the STT Platform.
Thanks for the vid. When doing a stop loss on a stock that I'm actively watching I'll put the stop lower (higher loss) vs. one that I'm not actively watching. When I'm able to track a stock actively I can see the nuances in L2, CCI, MACD, etc., and be able to make the call on whether to get out sooner or hold due to a predictive reversal.
Yep I was putting my stops in obvious places when I started. I was obsessed with 10 cents stops with full position, then I switched to 30 cents stops with 1/3 position and added to my position if stocked moved in my direction. That helped a lot.
Great video, thanks so much for doing this. This is one of my biggest mistakes getting taken out early and then watching the stock go ballistic. Going to join your STT soon and so look forward to getting your live video's. I'm sure it will turn me into a better trader. Keep up the good fight Sir.
Another great lesson. I always get nervous letting something going to have to market for overnight but this makes me feel a lot more confident. It’s smart to do a smaller size and have a little bit more comfort and letting things go just in case I’m hitting these points. Thanks again Tim
Position size!!! I love that tip about do not have too big of a size! Thank you! I have seen the pattern you talk about regarding stops at obvious 1.00 or .50, and I now put my stop losses at like 4-8 cents below what I originally predict (factoring in risks too ofc!).
this guy is the best thing in the whole company! If i join the stockstotrade mentorship without the software subscription i would. I can't stand the two color schemes..if i could customize the colors id strongly consider the software...hurts my eyes..otherwise it is great software. Tim, you are a daily part of my life.. i appreciate all you do.
EXCELLENT! Just now learning and your videos have really been helpful!! Almost ready to Paper Trade and test my knowledge! THANK YOU for all the time you spend in teaching us!
Thanks Tim , super informative as always. How do you use trialing stops? Will you consider making one of these superb videos on trialing trailing stops? Agian thank you for all the content you share.
I watched the Pre-Market livestream a couple weeks ago where GME popped up and you said we should look at a potential stop of around $6.80 if it broke above $7. Well, it broke $7 but I set my stop at a break under $7 instead of listening to your plan. Stock went down to $6.97 then proceeded to run without me lol. I learned the hard way, but hearing you say to not set stops at key levels makes it resonate better. Ive been realizing that my problem is being overprotective of my account and trading too scared. Been working on having more conviction and confidence in my trades, as well as better planning my entries and exits. Got to focus on better risk management too!
As always Mr Bohen, you are ooozing with passion and love for us to get it right and reduce loses. I never comment but MAN!!!! I seriously love your content. Full of gold. Stay safe all form a simple (beginner) trader Sydney Australia. PS your time is absolutely whole heartedly appreciated
thank you for the tip- No I would not have put a stop at a whole number or half dollar. I like that idea though bc it makes you a little different with finding you niche.
I usually keep my stoploss at -2% and my take profit at 10%. the issue im having is I always get stopped out on a slight dip and then it rips and I have no positions.
I am still the newbie that watches the screen all day. Luckily i don't have much else to do at the moment, once i get my new used laptop tuned up, which is hard to do around mt area i will get stt and be able to keep up with the news, i tried revenge and over trading when i was extra green, no one to get revenge on but myself, i certainly agree with no revenge trading, thanks for the video, i picked up a superblackhawk for revenge on big bucks, see you on the next one!!!

Thanks Tim!!! I have not used stop losses. what do you think of mental stop losses?
I learned something. I try not to use stops. Thank you.
Great overview. What is your take on Stop Loss versus Stop Limit.
Study Stud Study!
I actually was focusing on those obvious areas Tim. Now I know to put some more thought into this area because it has hurt me. Thank You.

Can you do a video on when to exit a position. I can not seem to develop a good practice I either do it to late or to early

Keep it up, you got this!
I use VWAP at buy low longs as it is below my bid. As price goes up vwap also moves higher.
As a member of the steady trade team it is well worth the investment of time to be a member.

Is there a stop loss option for AH or PM in the STT software? Through what broker?
thank you for the tip- No I would not have put a stop at a whole number or half dollar. I like that idea though bc it makes you a little different with finding you niche.
The mental capital is absolutely real!
Why would you get stopped out in the pre-market? I thought you could only use limit orders in the pre-market?
I usually keep my stoploss at -2% and my take profit at 10%. the issue im having is I always get stopped out on a slight dip and then it rips and I have no positions.
I totally used the whole and half dollars😳
I would definitely go to the half whole dollar
👍
Will always set stop loss # one rule
👍
