Know someone who isn't registered to vote? Take them along with other friends to do so, 1/3 Americans don't vote 0_0. Also make sure you are still on the electoral register, so no sneaky beast has taken you off.
Vox (or Vice, forget which) has a great video about automatic voter registration when you get your license at the DMV. More states are doing it and with enough attention and calls to your governor, you can get your state to follow suit. No need to register if you're automatically registered, all you need to do is show up and vote. Of course that's a nightmare for Republicans so they won't let that happen easily

Even more troubling is we know the overwhelming majority of victims of sexual misconduct and crimes most often do not report the incident but instead keep it secret and never but rarely reveal what they have endured... So with as many courageous and brave women coming forward to speak out of their attack by the Republican’s Nominee, just think of the others who remain silent. So sad for Dr. Ford and her being attacked at such a young age! Hurts my feelings...

Her not reporting her attackers is the norm unfortunately and typical of girls and women who have been sexually assaulted and/or abused and it’s folks like you that make girls so hesitant to speak up because of ignorance like yours they don’t think they will be believed...

You’re absolutely right and it’s really heartbreaking to think a young 15yr old girl was attacked but because she drank beer and was at a friend’s house without an adult, she felt like she had to keep it secret... That’s so sad it really hurts my feelings... I get more angry and angrier with every new accuser knowing most remain silent and aren’t telling what Kavanaugh did to them... So glad finally he’s at least being called out on it... Hopefully he pays a much bigger price like losing the Federal Seat he has now...

I'm terrified about what is happening to our democracy, truth, ethics. While I understand the wish to remain anonymous, especially in a horrible personal trauma. Don't we owe it to our country to be truth tellers. Isn't that a sacrifice that is as high as that of a young boy fighting in a foreign war? What do we say to ourselves when we could have fought in this different way for the truth and we choose not to? No one wants to be traumatized further and would love to forget. But just as the initial trauma does not leave our lives, will we ever forget that we didn't fight at all?
They need to do an FBI investigation. I’m so proud of the ladies for having the strength to come forward. It lets a lot of ladies know they’re not alone. I hope that an investigation is conducted and they get the justice they so deserve. I am deeply saddened that we live in a time still....where victims are made to feel shame.

Give them the whole 9 yards, but i say lets make it an even trade and throw all the chips down. If the allegations turns out to be true, prosecute Kavanaugh and sentence him to alleged amount of time in prison strip him and his supporters of the senate, but if they turn out to be false or unsubstantiated Prosecute every accuser with the crime that kavanuagh Could have faced and give them the time in prison for the crimes they alleged him of. Strip every Democrat who supported the investigation of there seats in the senate and appoint him as judge. When you hear or read 'the accuser" of someone, it does not do justice the people who were violated. The shame she must have felt, just hearing the portion that was read I now can see why women or men are hesitant to come forward. My God give all the strength to do what needs to be done.

At the least Kavanaugh acts badly when he drinks. If he's a recovering alcoholic, he should state so. I'm surprised no one on the committee is asking him about alcoholism!
Seems everyone knows he's crazy when drunk and every accusation has been when he was black out drunk. It's hard to say he is credible in his denials when alcohol could easily have killed the brain cells storing that memory. He could think he's telling the truth, but even he admits he drank enough to make him "cringe" in retrospect.
I see no reason not to pick a new nominee with a spotless record. Their current approach of rushing to vote before midterms just looks shady, stubborn, and alienates independent voters. If they were really going to put a nonpartisan judge on the court, they won't have an issue with confirming a nominee even if the lose the Senate majority after the midterms. It's like the GOP can't help acting like crooks when performing their duties.

That’s assuming the accusers are telling the truth. This is not a criminal court proceeding. He is innocent until proven guilty. None of these accusations are sustainable. How would you like to be accused by an anonymous source and be thought guilty by your peers. I think not.

His already dubious documented behaviour prior to these allegations, and his response thus far to these allegations, suggests to me that he is not suitably competent or of good enough character to sit in judgement over others for a year, never mind a lifetime.

If he does get the job, Ford can take this crime to state court as there is no statute of limitations on this crime in the state this happened. We would then have a federal judge under trial in a state court charged with a crime.

Jesus. I had a very similar experience at age 14,in 1978 and you know what happened when I told my mom and she confronted the boys' parents? Absolutely nothing. They lied so we had no recourse. I'm 54 and that experience still haunts me. Some details are hazy but others are so crystal clear,as if it happened yesterday. My heart goes out to Dr. Ford.And to Trump, the GOP and most especially to Brett Kavanaugh, may history and karma treat you all as harshly and you've treated these brave women!
I'm very proud of these women. This is an extremely difficult thing to do when it's not high profile so I cannot imagine how terrifying and challenging this is for them. Superb reporting from Rachael as usual
