In my opinion, the media played a significant role in influencing his decision. Regardless of one's personal beliefs, it is difficult for anyone to remain unaffected by constant negative media coverage. News stations such as NBC, MSNBC, and others have a responsibility to present a balanced and objective perspective.

By that time I learned that mostly Democratic policy was about making the rich pay a fair share of taxes to make our Infrastructure strong, and especially since Clinton who insisted that Welfare be a crutch not a lifestyle, that Democrats cared more in general about the,working class, without whom the rich would have no one to buy, produce or sell their merchandise. Republicans, leaders at least, are about big business and "Trickle down" economics, though it never seems to trickle. And Reps tend to claim small government but then want to pass and take away laws designed to micro-manage our lives.

This is sad. Biden had a bad performance at the debate, Biden had been traveling for the previous 7 to 10 days. Trump sat at his resort for ten days. But, Biden took the honorable action, not wanting to have this over his head until the election, he bowed out. Just like Al Franken did the same thing.
People keep forgetting that Trump's performance at the debate wasn't any better. He spouted lie after lie, and didn't answer questions. And the moderators barely moderated, they only cut of Biden a couple of times, and let Trump ramble on on on.
It is a smart move. I have revered Joe Biden for his many accomplishments in just one term! But, he was really the one to do it (since Bernie Sanders got railroaded so badly,) not many have that kind of experience and drive. I'm sure his experience with Mr. Obama for 8 years, had him poised to go and bring us out of the mess we were in! I believe that Kamala's experience next to him benefitted from that combined knowledge under the Obama administration. Joe Biden deserves respect and reverence! But he deserves to rest and spend retirement with his family, free from such demands and stresses that he endured throughout these most trying years. The fact that he had the INTEGRITY to step aside in and of itself speaks volumes. Trump would NEVER, nor would any of his narcissist colleagues and sycophants (psycho-phants?) would EVER let someone else usurp their own power! Its time for the younger, progressive movement to take over. Its a breath of fresh air, especially for women who have been so badly battered by the Dobbs decision by the MAGA (psychophant) SCOTUS!
Name one accomplishment he's achieved that has personally affected you in a positive way. Politicians with integrity shouldn't make 60 year careers out of public service and come out the other end multimillionaires.

Too many voters and media commentators treat the performative aspects of the presidency as equivalent to the entire job of the POTUS, when it counts for maybe 5%, on a good day with the wind at your back. The rest of the job is making wise decisions in the nation's immediate and long-term best interests, after consultation, reflection and weighing the pros and cons; something Biden is more than up to for years to come, despite not being "the life of the party" as much these days. Trump's competitiveness in the race is based entirely on his performative impressions, since we know he has no head for policy and generally does not honor his promises. Pres.Biden, on the other hand is committed to actually doing the job, and not simply in it for the position and authorities it gives him.
At the same time, where Pres. Biden would have the dual responsibilities of doing the job AND campaigning, the "convenient" deferral of Trump's various court cases his lightened his own workload considerably. I have complete confidence in Biden's ability to carry out the job of POTUS. But doing that job AND campaigning, not so much.
You're correct that there is more than a hint of ageism in the push for him to drop out, as well as the criticisms of him. But there is an even greater misunderstanding of what the actual job of POTUS consists of, and undue emphasis by many voters on how much "fun" a particular candidate is, to the neglect of the actual job itself.
You overlook the fact that he is a completely horrible human being who should never have been elected to any government post.
