My wife would argue that the density slider is way too high in my brain. This is such a good breakdown of a really incredible concept. Thanks dude! Stoked to use this inside your plugin pack!
You are my go to for Final Cut Pro color grading guru level knowledge, Eric! I'm subscribed and paid for the first of your color grading videos. I've learned so much! Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge. I hope your community does enough to keep you growing (your revenue) so you can continue teaching us all how to live and deliver a more colorfully balanced life and stories.
Nice! Love that you put this together! It’s something that has been missing from FCP for a long time and why I would bounce things out to DaVinci. Grateful for this plugin! This is probably WAY outside the scope of capabilities, but it would be awesome to be able to do a grade with this plugin and then export that as a LUT for on set preview. If that was possible, I wouldn’t even need to bounce over to Resolve…
That’s so great to hear! Thank you! To export LUTs for Final Cut Pro, or any other software, to he honest, you should have a look at IWLTBAP LUT Generator. This program allows you to export LUTs from Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, Capture One… Everything. Just make sure you turn off any grain, vignetting or masking before loading the grade onto the PNG. I’ll make a video about that tool in the future! :)
I'm not familiar with Premiere, sorry. To achieve (usable) subtractive saturation, you need to do a combination of some serious stuff. If your budged allows, maybe consider giving Dehancer a try. I'd argue it's the best one-stop-shop for film emulation, including density. Though, it only has a global density slider.
@@iamericlenz thanks for replying. It sounds as if the general idea is that when you add saturation to a color you also subtract luminance from it… but I guess it’s more than that
All clips shown in the video came from a BlackMagic 6k in BlackMagic log. The colour space you’re choosing in the plugin is the target colour space. So you can work with any colour space you want. Again, what you choose in the plugin is the target colour space. Sorry, I didn’t make that clear in the video.
Interesting. In the example I think the woman's skin is far too saturated. Otherwise I kept switching sides all the time - as you said: a lot is personal preference...
Yeah, I needed to overcook it a little to make the difference a bit more obvious. With further processing, I would have tamed her skin tones a little, too. I agree! There is no right or wrong method to use. :)
You are so wonderful for creating this! Inspired me to make a whole video about it. Thank you, thank you! Wonderful channel too. ruclips.net/video/9Gelzj1VNfw/видео.html

Haha, thank you so much! :D
I find all these colour grading techniques are very handy out in the garden where all the greens can look over done, or too green.
Thank you! For sure! Greens are often the hues that give it away if you overcooked your saturation. Doesn’t happen with density. :)

Wow, thank you for your compliments! :)
I always learn so much from your videos, Eric. 🙋🏻♂Thanks for sharing all the theory behind colors, I love those videos! ⭐👍🏻
Awesome, thank you! :) You’ll like the videos I’m about to make. 🚀

@@iamericlenz Brilliant! Thanks for the recommendation- I’ll look into that. :) Keep up the great work as always- you’ve got a great channel. :)
Hey! Is that achievable on Premiere Pro? Or is there a similar workaround?

Very valuable tutorial! Thanks!
Thank you very much! :)
Thank you. Video saved. Subscription button tapped. :)
Thanks for the sub! :)
My biggest question is how many make the sun light be white instead of yellow yet skin tones look great?
You balance the highlights different than the midtones. But I’m not sure whether I understand your question correctly.
What happen if you working with slog3 ?
