This game's lore is seriously underrated. Some of the things here sound like they could happen in our world too and that makes the plot even more interesting. Different shades of grey and every side working for their own interests.
Too bad all the freakin layers of confidentiality and bluring plus their own paranoia prevents them all from just co-existing casualy. It almost always ends up with strong language, broken bones and countless graves. Only pending question remains : !!! WHEN ? !!!
There is a small Easter egg hidden in the adapt campaign: in the first guerrilla camp, if you go exploring in the north, you will find a wrecked ship with a crate and a body. In the crate you will find black Mx rifles, ctrg camos and plate carriers… meanwhile on the body you can find a ION baseball cap. I pieced the info together and came up that the CTRG reinforcements must have reached the island the aid of ION contractors, but it is unknown if the guy is dead from the wreck of if he has been shot by ctrg to tie up loose ends
Thank you for this. Miller is so ‘right’ for the campaign - even his accent and delivery is just like a certain type of British special forces officer that I have met in real life.
I always liked BI’s story lines but often felt they were not always really well executed. They can be convoluted and confusing or a bit flakey. This is an excellent video that helps to make sense of it all. Thanks Viper! Unfortunately, my guess is BI will probably not invest in deep campaign storylines anymore when Arma4 eventually comes out, they’ll concentrate more on the platform itself, which to be honest, is the most important part of Arma. It’ll be a shame, as the mod community, as talented as they are, probably can’t replicate the quality, scale and depth of lore that BI could.
They're intentionally confusing. Your pov is Kerry. Some random guy. Even if he fought together with you, the secret black ops soldier isn't gonna just tell you what he's up to. BI's storytelling captures the confusion of modern war in a way no other studio even tries.
Having played the campaigns through more than once, it was really easy for me to despise Miller. But after watching this...jeez, you changed my mind, dude. Well done!
always saw miller and his teams as a "necessary evil" playing both sides to keep a rough sense of neutrality, neither NATO nor CSAT or even the guerrilla and independent island groups can come out on top as further destabilisation of more regions would worsen the conflict, they simply task themselves with balancing out what the other side has done
These are awesome, who is next? I really like how 'human' he is. He is not over the top, he is not larger than life, not gun-ho, he just seems like normal dude with a mission. A sneaky normal dude you prolly shouldn't trust
I wonder what CTRG would make out of that mysterious drone incident in Livonia. Some sort of CSAT GPS scrambler? Something's fishy and CSAT's involved, mark my words.
I never realized this man was involved this much. That is one hell of a greater good to need to sacrifice that many NATO troops during the invasion of Altis and then the citizens of Tanoa. I now see why he did those things, but I still don't know it I like him any better. It's a crying shame he wasn't involved in the Contact DLC
I meam what would be his purpouse in contact? Sure, LDF has problems with spetnaz infiltrarions, but there isnt any secret weapon program going on, so nothing CTRG to care about
I imagined kerry singing " somebody that I used to know " to his kids when they ask him in the middle of his story, " dad who is Miller ? " Edit: I wrote keery
I get the idea of the ‘bigger picture’. But if you think about it. Miller didn’t get the device on Altis anyway which means that thousands died on both sides of the conflict for no reason. Almost 3 squads were wiped out on stratis for nothing. Miller got Anatolia remnant forces killed on stratus for no reason. Kinda hate the guy.
@Viper1Zero Arma3 in any of your videos looks as beautiful as possible, I never cease to be amazed at this. Despite the fact that the release of the game was in 2013, it looks no worse than today's games, sometimes even better! This thanks to your cinematography and the maximum settings of the game, the quality of the upwnloaded video. As for Captain Miller, this is the most charismatic character in Arma3, thanks for every video from you!
Miller is one of my favorite charcters.A very complex character that walks the line between good and evil.I love how bohemia and modders include his character in chenarios and campaigns. And we see him from different angles ,we see other known characters evolve too and the whole altian war from different angles even civilian angle in Remnants of War. You see that Miller is forced to do stuff that are very difficult and unethical for others to do.But as you said he's the only one who sees the bigger picture and willing to make sacrifices for the greater good...I hope this story continues in ArmA 4 but i doubt it...
Funny thing about group 14 that never makes sense to me is Sgt. Hardy. James probably would be still alive if we ignore his SOS in the Win final mission. But later on at the final misson of apex protocol, James returns with full members of group 14 with Sgt. Hardy, when Hardy was supposedly gets killed in Signal lost. (Trivia: Go to James's position without taking Hardy's radio during Signal Lost. Trust me.) Did the Maxwell Falcon Team wasn't the whole member of Group 14 and they stashed another Hardy somewhere? This is the point where me and my Kerry gets suspicious, where the bloody hell this Radcliffe guy come from? I didn't see him in Maxwell.
I appreciate Apex as it was a good way of telling a story for a new region, and it also closed out the Eastwind campaign that felt a little too open-ended with Miller falling off the face of the Earth.
I can't wait for more lore videos! It's very interesting looking at the bigger picture of the story, I hope you will make more videos like these. Do you think you could make a “top [number]” video on client-side mods? That'd be quite nice.
You know further that Miller is Involved in deep shit when you see Lt. James in Beyond Hope. Like damn. They were playing both sides, and even NATO Command allows them to sacrifice TF Aegis
i originally liked miller and i like him even more also when kerry was asking stuff i was like "BRO SHUT UP stop asking so many fucking questions you had a chance to join a super secret black-ops group and you ruined it"
I love the characters that work on a bigger picture of a more over arching story, i just need to write mine close to what Miller is like without being too predictably sketchy and stereotypical.
Miller technically has the highest kill count in the ArmA franchise, and if his ending is picked, then he's responsible for the deaths of however many people perish in World War 3.

Some damn good detective work
It’s crazy how miller seems to be behind everything that happens in the campaign. Also, great vid keep up the amazing content!
I'm in love with Arma 3's larger story
It’s seriously underrated.

Miller is one of the few individuals known to outglow the CIA
“CIA?

- Miller, probably
Fun fact in Bomos during chapter 2 of the campaign you can find a CTRG stash and bunch of dead guerrillas by the beach

Miller is the type that will sacrifice anything, or anyone for the greater good.
Miller actually shows up in some off-limits areas in Contact. You're never going to find this out during regular gameplay.
Absolutely love this. Outstanding job putting this all together! Keep up the phenomenal work Viper!

Miller rule #1 never expose your intentions.
Sigma Rule Number 847: Start wars that lead to thousands of deaths just to accomplish your mission.
the arma campaigns are so underated

the ending when you go to the checkpoint to help James is not canon
