- This is a full-length "movie" of Season 1 of Flat Circle History's "The Next World War" series.
August 3rd, 2032. Russia launches a surprise attack on the Baltics, kicking off a third world war that will begin in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, but soon spread from the arctic to the UK, to the heart of America. This documentary-style series takes you into battle from the eyes of the warfighters, to the strategic decision-makers, providing a terrifying and plausible look at a hypothetical Third World War scenario. Coming in Part 2: the war will turn to the Indo-Pacific as China eyes Taiwan.

Movie project background:
Originally I did not plan to create a full-length movie from the season 1 episodes. But as episode 4 turned to 8…11, 14… it became more clear to me that I should give it a try and see if it worked. Would it flow? Would people sit through the whole thing? Would they care? You all will surely let me know.
But before I started to create the full-length movie, first I had to address multiple issues and errors from the individual episodes that needed fixing. Some were small (a poorly chosen word here-and-there), some were large (the HMS… being a big one, or the incorrect use of a Lithuanian name). Many were brought to me by you, the viewers. Also, some of the early graphics and edits just bugged me and I felt needed changing. Did I get them all? Could I get them all? Nope. Some things (I’m pointing to you, UK sub commander), I couldn’t change because the tools/mods for the video simply are not available. But if it was remotely do-able… I did it.
One thing you will see is that the content from episode 13 is not in here. That episode, presented in an entirely different voice and style, was meant to be a stand-alone. I jokingly call it my WW3 Christmas Special. Though the story does flow with the full-length timeline and very much supports the lead-up to the season finale’, I thought the style and voice change was too jarring for the viewer. Also, I think we all get it, even with the removal of episode 13, that Colonel Nagamov is a bad dude and we all (including me) wanted to see his end. Enough said.
Lastly, I wanted to provide a sneak peak of what’s coming as the story turns to the Indo-Pacific. An unbelievable amount of time, research and interviewing has gone into planning the next season of the story. More on that to come.
As always: pronunciations of places, names and translations are my best guess. Uniforms and equipment are not always exact as the gaming platforms I use are limited, as well as the mods available within them. I’m quite literally a one-man-show and work with what I have, in the time that I have, so I ask for a bit of grace if it’s not perfect. That said, I’m always happy to receive constructive criticism. This is all about making the story better. Thanks!

I served in Germany in the 1980's in aviation. We were briefed that Spetnaz troops _would_ target our airfields. My M-16 was well cared for.
I tell people all the time the M4 is excellent for target shooting in controlled environments but if you're using it and the desert or the jungle or a dust bowl like Afghanistan you've REALLY got to take care of it. If I had my choice I would have rather taken the AK-47.
Personally I don't see much utility in the longer maximum effective range if you're in a a desert, a jungle or in urban combat.
On the other hand knowing your weapon will fire in a sandstorm or a monsoon gives a lot of "peace of mind"
When I trained with the AK I was always certain it would always fire and it always did. When I was deployed with my M4 I was always worried that it wouldn't fire no matter how much I cleaned it.
@@Turf-yj9eihad zero issues with my M4 in Iraq.
Yup, I was at Sembach, then stationed in Bremerhaven during the 80s. I remember the threat briefings
If I were you I’d check for Spetnaz under the bed before going to sleep every night! You can’t be too careful….😂🤣😂🤣
With all due respect, I am sure you wouldn't have any chance against Soviet Spetsnaz

I did not expect the quality of the story to be this good. It reminds me of Clancy's writing and in my opinion surpasses it!
I am from Lithuania and I see one problem with this scenario. The problem is that it wouldn't be so easy for russians to even cross the border of Baltic states much less take over the military or civilian airports. There is an aspect of military intelligence, Estonia is well prepared for that and I am sure other Baltic states are well prepared for any attempts of incursion, then there is also a superiority in military technology between NATO troops in Baltics and russians.
There is an undeniable difference between former soviet states and western countries in terms of understanding and evaluation of who russians are, which is why we would not make it so easy for russians to even sneeze into our direction.
I don't disagree. That said, this takes place in 2032. Situation and outcome would probably remain the same but still.. it makes an interesting story to tell.
Just a story like the Poles winning the Battle of Britain.
The border is already being heavily fortified and Ämari air base as one of the most important bases in the Baltics is always...always heavily guarded. It's also 250-260 km from the border. So Russian speznaz has to somehow go unnoticed for literally days and the force has to be big enough to actually have a chance. Also, why should Estonian forces fall back to Jõhvi when you literally have easily defendable hills (battle of Tannenberg lines) and difficult terrain between Jõhvi and Narva.
My uncle was from lithuania (joseph bartuska, probably spelled wrong)and was there in ww2.He said they were not afraid of the germans for the most part but they were terrified of the russians. He was 15 at the time and his 4 older brothers joined the german army to fight the russians.Near the end his parents gave him the small amount of gold/wealth they had and told him to head west.He was proud that he managed to get to the west and managed to keep hold of his mothers wedding ring which he gave to my aunty on their wedding day.He eventually ended up in england where he met and married my mothers sister(my aunty). The russians came and up went the iron curtain and he never heard from his family or found out what happened to them.
I fully agree with you. Most likely the people who made this have no idea about the readiness of defense in the Baltic States, but at least they got the Geography correct. The logic is: small countries and the military base of Kaliningrad as if it would not be bombed as the very first action of NATO. Saint Petersburg would be bombed to rubbles as the second action. Without them any invasion in the Baltic States is doomed to fail. If Russia really wanted to start a new world war it would likely start in Moldova, followed by attacks on Romania and Bulgaria and making contact with Serbia. And Russia could cross the Black Sea without even getting involved with Turkey.
I was an Armor officer in the US 8th ID (M) in West Germany in the late 70's to early 80's. We trained hard and waited for the Russians. I enjoyed your work and shared it with a brother Cold War Armor Officer.

@@randallturner9094 yup, naval part of the book still holds up and very interesting, but ground assault... meh. Bunch of M1 and German heimatschutz taking down an entire tank division? A-10 is a weapon of doom for Warsaw pact tanks? No famous Soviet AA at all. Not to mention those fantastic uber F-19 stealth jets and T-80 equipped by LOADER IN CREW (lol) and which armor gets penetrated by Chieftain (probably Clancy made a mistake and described not T-80 but Chinese Type-80 which is copy-paste of Soviet T-62 with loader and outdated gun)

@@flatcirclehistory Very pleasing to listen for the NATO fanboys audience but wake up i am guy who comes from NATO Country, i love my country and army but what you describe is unreal given that the Russians were listening and eating himuliation after himuliaton if this happens (i hope it doesn't happen) you won't see what would hit NATO.. Ukraine is war of attrition the scale of triple the World War 1 was in Western Front, without trenches and real defence of the Baltics plan a plenty Peacemakers that can't communicate with eachother won't do thing.. Everything you described is pure fanboy business to make money of of giving fake hope to the people not educated enough how modern military warfare will happen i will tell you in 3 steps:
1. First week destruction and aerial capture of Communication centers, power plants, airports and navy bases.
2. Second week capturing of the Suwalky gap and making humanitarian routes using them to infiltrate trained sabotage units to NATO countries told as innocent refugees.
3.Third week Shock and Awe overrun of what is left exhausted and without coordinations of the NATO foreign soldiers that won't have Google Translate to understand eachother..
I give 1 month of fight to capture the Baltics and then using the skills and might of Ukraine war experience entrenching and awaiting for the impossible to happen..

But endangered Baltics don't pose any strategic value for Russia so this scenario won't happen!

As long as you believe western propaganda spoon fed for you, sure. The only mistake Russia did was not invading Ukraine in 2014 right after American led coup. in such.
Looks like majority of this scenario was written before russia attacked Ukraine. The lack of involvement from Finland, Sweden and the inaccurate depiction of russian armed forces as competent force is a dead giveaway.
@ yes, I agree with you. I somewhat thought the same.
@@altsak840 I don't believe so. Makes sense that after losing in Ukraine and fighting for years they would've learnt a lot of lessons and reorganized their army, especially if they had a coup afterwards.
@@cassu6 depends on how they retain those soldiers. Looking at current casualty rates plus watching go pros videos and drone footage, they seem to be doing what they have always done, throw bodies at it. It's a meat grinder. Another fact, their weapons platforms did not perform well, win or lose in Ukraine, they are economically hurt from the war, they won't have unlimited funds to drum up new tech, hell they are desperately beefing old tech right now. Where does all these funds come from in this hypothetical situation to start developing stuff to do what happens in this video? In WW2 its been tracked the different factions around the world operated thru banks and helped Germany. Some of those were US support o.O I don't see that with Russia. Take all that and magnify it with how many young men they will have lost by the end of Ukraine war, this video becomes very unfeasible.

"Episode 13 | The Butcher of Latvia" is not included in this compilation. I think the decision is a good one considering that it would not fit the chronology of events well, and also is too different in both tone and pacing... It is a story about a war correspondent while behind enemy lines.

Agree that it was right not to have it in the compilation. That said, it's one of my fav episodes.

Red Storm Rising. Best war novel I've seen.
@@echeogo3928 I reread this novel many times as a child, especially the chapter "Dance with the Vampires" I just love it. I live near the airbase where the Tu-22M3s of the 185th Bomber Regiment were based, and I saw them fly as a child. The Tu-22 takeoff at night is a fantastic sight, huge tongues of flame and a roar! LOUD ROAR! So strong that the ground trembles and the house shakes. It was a wonderful plane, we miss it now.
Until 2022, I thought that the novel "Red Storm" was science fiction, stupid science fiction, consisting of stereotypes about the Soviet Union and its army. The description of the ground military campaign, where Clancy burns more than 9,000! Russian tank divisions, always seemed funny and absurd to me, a comedy.
But that was before February 2022.
Who would have thought that Clancy, describing the fictional war of 1986 as some kind of confrontation in the style of the Great World War, only with tanks. Will turn out to be a prophet, because this war is very similar to how the Great World War was fought. It is similar to his "Red Storm".
In "Red Storm", however, there are not thousands of hordes of drones

Russia cannot marshal this sort of attack. Their forces are depleted and their economy is on the verge of collapse. The only way this scenario can play out is if they are allowed the reprieve of an armistice.
That's counting on the propaganda being accurate. With a country the size of Russia, with many other surrounding countries, what makes you think they've used a majority of their military might? I'm not saying they didn't, but it is short-sighted to believe that they have. Not to mention their nuclear capabilities, which most assuredly put hesitation into any plans to strike Russia by other willing countries. China, even, with all its shortcomings is no doubt a formidable enemy that may seem to have a better military than actually exists. Nobody wants ts to take that chance though. Set alarm 208 AM story building located in the pavilion just blocks from the Moscow zone captured on numerous videos of the building was the level to ruin as 1 witness described it. I fully agree. In three years the Russians have only advanced a measly 30 kilometres into the Donbass, with astronomical losses. When, and if this war ends, whole generations of Russians will be psychologically scarred to ever consider going to war with NATO, not to mention the Ukrainians, ever again.

I think it's just the best entertaining nothing like this I can find to me just thanks apsalutlly marvellous
Right on the button. The Baltics region is heating up, hopefully NATO backs their talk and increases spending, support and dedication. China has been eyeing Taiwan for a long time and I believe the only thing that’s given both Russia and China pause is the election of Trump who, in fact is, the Trump card. He’s by no means the savior of the world but he’s who’s needed right now.
Wow! Thanks for this incredible piece of work!
Much appreciated, thank you!
Tak!
Thank you!
If you think 48h after Russia invaded Baltics some Russian plane would be destroying motorway going across Lithuanian-Polish boarder and there wouldnt yet be a proper response from Poland you must be out of your trolley. The minute war starts nothing Russian would get even close to Polish boarder. Poland was abandoned by their friends over and over, we aint waiting for NATO, about 12h after war would start Kalinigrad would become a desert, Polish desert to be exact. No Russian plane is coming near that boarder, mark my words !!!
History has a funny way to remind us over and over again about the mistakes we have done in the past.
And now with the red pumpkin in the Oval office, who knows
.....
This is amazing but I wish there were subtitles
hmm there should be closed captioning. I added the text at posting.
Hour and a half 😮 I'll save this to watch on my tv after work 😊 thank you in advance!! Great series
The production value is insane! Well done mate.
Anxious for season 2.
THANKS!!
YT is throwing so many commercials in this,it's hard to watch. About one every three minutes.
oof. Sorry. Side note: you can purchase a $3.00 commecial-free stream on the Patreon site. :)
Hmm im 9 min in and no commercials yet.
set VPN to Mongolia, zero ads!!! 👍
Thank you.
This is so incredibly well put together. As someone who’s made a channel around these exact types of cinematics, I salute you for how long it took you to set all these shots up.
Thanks, Viper. You and I could share a lot of war stories about trying to get ARMA to do what we want it to do!
@ Indeed we could 😂
I can't find a suitable way to describe your work , simply awesomeness in each video🎉
Given the Russians recent performances in the Ukraine this scenario is awful optimistic of their chances in Lithuania. Lol
Great series. I look forward to watching this in full.
thank you this series is awesome
The storytelling is absolutely awesome. Entertaining, interesting, frightening.
I get that the situation for Lithuania is constructed in a certain way to increase the tension and excitement, but three things are a little bit frustrating:
1. There are more countries on this planet that can perform military operations other than the US and Russia (the latter being debatable tbh).
2. At that point in time there will be an entire German brigade stationed in Lithuania. Their main mission is to protect and hold the Suwałki gap and protect Vilnius.
3. Neither the Germans nor the Poles would just sit back and watch the situation get so dire.
This is ****ing awesome. Best history storytelling I’ve seen in a long time. I can tell you spent a very long time making this. Keep up the great work! You earned yourself a new subscriber.
Thought this would have been interesting but after a minute or 2 I realized it's just the same 'ol simplistic, unrealistic "them evil, us good" storyline of Hollywood.
You are destroying the story plot. Let people enjoy their fantasies regardless of how unrealistic they are
@@gdiwolverinemale4th True, lol.
Is this the same Russian army that is riding horses and golf carts into battle in Ukraine?
Never gets old-I've watched it many times.
I've watched it too many times.
I really enjoyed this video. It is absolutely well done, and I liked and subscribed. I wish this were a novel as well, so I could read it and enjoy it again and again.
I really enjoyed this. Like someone said below, I generally avoid anything over an hour but I have no trouble with your work, and hour just flys by. I wish we could set a reminder of some kind so we get notified when Part 2 is out.
This is just a compalation of the the first three episodes, there will be a lot of disappointed watchers out there who where expecting something new
this is not correct, this movie is all 14 episodes from season 1.
@@r2armclachlanMy apologies, I should have said this is just regurgitation of 14 x 6.7min of old episodes, nothing new here.
@@optimist3580 We subscribing viewers asked for it, so...
Russian losing so much men and equipment in Ukraine I don't see this as plausible.
