    My first comparison wasn't portal (though that one IS apt) but The Talos Principle with the lights reminding me so much of the Jammers.

      @@DrewLSsix well, you can also compare the CEO and Elohim (Talos Principle narrator). Elohim was probably also more entertaining and well written, judging from the review.

      The game itself brought up portal, so inevitably a portal comparison

      @@prcervi Especially when the CEO literally says "we treat our objects with respect unlike those fools over at aperture science" I wonder what that could be referencing with a bomb drop that big?

    Word of warning. There's currently a bug at launch for some configurations where some native light sources in the game will visually be lit, but the surrounding area still covered in shadow. This leaves some puzzles almost unsolvable. These false shadows won't kill you, but it throws a wrench into any of the puzzles where this occurs. I'm confident they'll patch it, but I recommend trying the free demo before buying just to be sure.

    Sounds like it could have some very good moments and a few mediocre moments, I'll look into it!
    PSA: there's a 1 hour demo on steam.

      I bought it during the winter sale for like 7 bucks. I highly recommend it even if its not on sale. It scratches the portal 3 itch pretty well

    If y'all like this kind of mechanic, I'd suggest you checked out a little title that goes by the name of Closure. Sorta like this, only in 2D (also, themes are entirely different, but the base mechanic is almost identical)

    I played the demo and found it to be very enjoyable. If you've played Talos Principle, Portal, Antichamber and the likes, this definitely has more than some moments.
    For me, what it lack in impressiveness and complexity, it makes up with the art style and immersion. Don't expect Perfection, and it's really a fun time.

    • @AdventofMechanus
      @AdventofMechanus 4 года назад

      The character doesn't block lights, and you don't see their feet or hands when moving. In game terms, it's more apt to say that the main character doesn't even a physical form at all.

    • @unvergebeneid
      @unvergebeneid 4 года назад +2

      @@AdventofMechanus So you're playing an air elemental. Well, I get of course why it would kinda ruin the whole concept if you cast a shadow but it's still jarring and immersion-breaking af if you ask me.

    I'm not big into gaming, but I do like puzzles and this got me on the edge of my seat. Like a complex mind like mine, it needs something that can challenge your inner core to solve. This is like playing Tetris but in 3D using lights.

    kinda weird for the first impression to be "wow this is just portal but slightly different" and have the game explicitly mention aperture science, have turret prop easter eggs, and have the unreliable narrator thing
    if i pick this up i'm pretty sure i'll be thinking "why am i playing this when i can just replay portal 1&2 which i already have"

      Because this game is a completely different game with completely different mechanics on a different company but is set in the same universe as portal? Idk
