To save time we had to cut out the scenes explaining what J-pop is and its origins, as well as the scenes giving information on the songs and the J-pop artists featured. Only a few clips were able to make it in the final edit and were merged into the lyrics reading segment. Here’s the information given to those reacting in full!
Welcome to the world of Japanese pop aka J-POP! Japan has had “idol” groups with origins dating back to the 1960s-1970s. Its known peak however, was in the 90s with idol groups such as SMAP, ARASHI, and more which has also greatly influenced other East Asian countries (Most notably South Korea, and Taiwan) and their own idol-group industries. The songs featured today are various songs from the new faces of today’s generation of J-pop. This new era of J-pop is known for targeting a more global market with their music and content by making their music videos, songs, and shows more readily available through digital means such as RUclips or music streaming services (Which is not as common in the Japanese music market).
*Nogizaka46 - Sing Out* - Nogizaka46 is a Japanese female idol group created as the official rival of the group AKB48 produced by Yasushi Akimoto (Creator of 48 & 46 groups). They are the first group from the Sakamichi Series, which also includes sister groups Keyakizaka46, Yoshimotozaka46, and Hinatazaka46. "Sing Out!" is their 23rd single and was released on May 29, 2019. It reached number-one on the weekly Oricon Singles Chart with 1,004,000 copies sold and was also number-one on the Billboard Japan Hot 100.
*Reol - THE SIXTH SENSE* - Reol (Pronounced as “Re-oh-ru”) is a Japanese singer, songwriter, record producer, and rapper. She is a former member of J-pop group REOL and is currently a solo artist. The title THE SIXTH SENSE (第六感, Dairokkan) is a wordplay in itself. The song is used for Japan’s BOAT RACE 2020 (Like F1 car racing but for boats), it’s referencing how the races have 6 lanes, and how in racing people bet on who they want to win. The word “Kan” in the title can mean “sense”, and “intuition”- like gambling intuition. Reol mentioned that there are other word plays in the song itself.
*SixTONES - Navigator* - SixTONES (pronounced "Stones") is a Japanese idol boy band formed by Johnny & Associates in 2015 (They are labelmates with legendary J-pop groups such as SMAP, and Arashi) they made their official debut 5 years later last January 22, 2020 with the single entitled Imitation Rain which was later followed-up by Navigator, both singles have topped the charts in Japan with the former having 1.7 million sales. Navigator is the opening song to to the anime “The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited”
SixTONES together with SnowMan (both debuted simultaneously) are the first J-pop group from Johnny’s & Associates to have a RUclips channel. Aside from music videos, and dance practices (which are almost never revealed/uploaded online in the J-pop industry), variety show and vlog-like videos have been uploaded with English subtitles.

I've been into JPOP since 2005, particularly groups under Johnny's Entertainment, so I just want to thank you for featuring SixTONES! Stanning jpop is quite expensive, considering how strict copyright laws are in Japan and how pricey the shipping fees so I'm sure that those who'll enter jpop will be in SHOCK.

NAVIGATOR is a great song but the one song that made me a hardcore Team SixTONES is their debut song, Imitation Rain. It's a rock ballad kinda song that showcases the members' beautiful vocals.
Their third single, an op song for highly anticipated anime Hanyo no Yashahime is a marriage of modern and traditional Japanese music. Check it out guys, you'll love it.

I love this episode. As you announce that some Filipinos will react J-pop, first impression is that Filipinos will not love and appreciate J-pop because we are influence K-pop industry but i wrong. They love and amaze what is J-pop is. Actually, through MNL48, I discovered a lot about J-Pop and 48G system. Love it talaga. Ganbatte sa inyong lahat.

I'm a guy and usually only listens to the likes of DOES, Flow, Radwimps, etc. But man! Nogizaka46 was the first Japanese idol group I fell in love specially to the very talented *Ikuta Erika* ❤❤❤. No salt added but I love J-Pop better than K-Pop. Unlike K-Pop which only focuses on the rythm\beat choreography and emotions on the music J-Pop music on the other hand are full of meanings and inspirations. I know I'm late but thank you for reacting to Nogizaka46! They're only second to Keyaki when it comes to my favorite jpop groups. One of the things that I love about them is that their lyrics tend to be very meaningful and relatable. I also really really love the sound of their vocals, like people singing together but there's still one distinct/dominant voice that you'd always hear. It has some magic on me.
P.S. My all-time favorite song of them is "You don't have to be strong until dawn" (just english translation of the title bcs the original is kinda long), it's so good!

Sa Jpop ko nakita yung dami ng pagpipilian, past and present. Dati mga anime songs lang dahil nga sumikat anime sa Pinas. Kung saan saan pa ko pumupunta makabili lang ng mga CD. Tapos nahilig ako sa Kpop pero wala ako ni isang grupo na tinutukan. Kung ano lang nauusong Kpop song, yun lang. Sa Jpop, solo, trio, banda, idol group, hindi ko na ililista sa sobrang dami ng kinahiligan ko. Pero yang Nogizaka46 since 2016 hanggang ngayon tinututukan ko yan. Mga music show ng Japan lagi ko pinapanuod kasi halo halo na nagpe-perform dun. Kahit mga grupo na na-disband na basta nagustuhan ko, hinahalungkat ko mga kanta nila. Kpop kasi pag nakarinig ka ng isa, dalawa, tatlong kanta, parang narinig mo na lahat. Parang yun at yun lang din ang tunog. Baka kuyugin ako ng mga Kpop fans. Peace ✌😁
To be a honest, I have a lot of old songs of Namie Amuro, w-inds, Perfume, Koda Kumi, etc. Hinding hindi ka mauubusan kasi kahit yung mga lumang kanta magaganda ding pakinggan.

I first encountered Nogizaka46 when they sang a Naruto Opening. I started to stan them when I saw their Mouse commercial and discovered their godlike visuals, kinda snowballed from there. I started jamming to their songs while taking a shower and cried at senbatsu and everytime a member graduates just like when my oshimen, Nishino, did. I hope they get more recognition, they are definitely a worthy rival for AKB48.
They are also funny af, anyone who's interested should check them out in their TV shows as well. And also watch the Live action of Grand Blue,Yuuki will play as Chisa!

AKB48 belongs to 48G and Nogizaka46 goes to 46G.
Just in case someone's wondering... Nogizaka46 and other 46 groups don't have 46 members just like how AKB48 and other 48 groups don't have 48 members.
The numbers on the groups' name means something, not the number of members, just like NCT 127 and Seventeen.

The reason behind AKB "48", it refers to the name of the group's President's office; "office48". While in Nogizaka46 Yasushi Akimoto (Aki-P) , "46" was named in the sense of "the will not lose even if the number of people is less than AKB48".
