Will be hiking in Landmannalaugar that day and staying in the South that night. Not sure if there would be any special event there. Will try to stay up past midnight to experience the summer solstice.
My niece and I made an accidental stop in Iceland on the way to Switzerland due to weather delays. We loved our side quest so much that my husband and I are going soon too. It’s a wonderful place!
I have been to Iceland for the first time in November 2023. I did find Reykjavik pretty much overrated. I stayed in Selfoss and liked how it is in the middle of South of Iceland and how everything touristy is reachable within 60-90min drive.
Stunning country but can be chilly in summer, largely due to the wind. In fact, another name for the country could be Windland. Def pack a warm jacket, gloves & a hat if you plan on doing outdoor touring away from Reykjavik. If you're picking up a hire car on arrival @ Keflavik, maybe pay a visit to Viking World Museum. Opens at 7am. Interesting collection & has a cool cafe.

We went for a week with our grandchild and daughter. We travelled from Stockholm Sweden so its a 2 h 30 min flight. Everything is very Scandinavian well organized. For you veggies as me and my husband there are good options. Iceland is also very welcoming for us gay people and that is also a Scandinavian standard. Blue Lagoon is a very special experience, i could stay there for days. Expensive not that much. One strange thing that we all saw was the lack of curtains in the windows. If you are in to arts and all sorts of culture there are a lot of things to do. The benefits of the city is that you can walk and there are good communications by bus, sadly there bus app wasnt that smooth working. So my take overall Yes go there
