I have been to Iceland for the first time in November 2023. I did find Reykjavik pretty much overrated. I stayed in Selfoss and liked how it is in the middle of South of Iceland and how everything touristy is reachable within 60-90min drive.

Stunning country but can be chilly in summer, largely due to the wind. In fact, another name for the country could be Windland. Def pack a warm jacket, gloves & a hat if you plan on doing outdoor touring away from Reykjavik. If you're picking up a hire car on arrival @ Keflavik, maybe pay a visit to Viking World Museum. Opens at 7am. Interesting collection & has a cool cafe.

Another bit of advice taxis are very expensive. Don’t take them number two. Your best bet cheaper bet is hostile. The hostels are really good. Buy your food. It’s expensive to eat. A lot of hostels have kitchens. I can recommend one. That’s really good and they pick up. It’s a pick up bus stop for all the tours as well And it’s only a 15 minute walk to the center of Iceland in Reykjavik

We went for a week with our grandchild and daughter. We travelled from Stockholm Sweden so its a 2 h 30 min flight. Everything is very Scandinavian well organized. For you veggies as me and my husband there are good options. Iceland is also very welcoming for us gay people and that is also a Scandinavian standard. Blue Lagoon is a very special experience, i could stay there for days. Expensive not that much. One strange thing that we all saw was the lack of curtains in the windows. If you are in to arts and all sorts of culture there are a lot of things to do. The benefits of the city is that you can walk and there are good communications by bus, sadly there bus app wasnt that smooth working. So my take overall Yes go there

Your knowledge is stellar and I appreciate it very much 😊. I'm turning 50 and my husband is bringing me to Iceland in may 2025, I'm absolutely thrilled!! My biggest concern is that I am not the best walker any more. I will push myself to see the place I've always dreamed about seeing, but I'm slow and 2km is about the most I can do. Because my back is the issue I am also concerned about bouncy roads and buses. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. And I want to do everything 😂 thanks Rachel

Hello, curious what you think on renting a car then booking stays along the ring road or is a camper van a better option? Is it allowed to park anywhere to sleep or does it have to be parked at campsites to sleep?

I'm visiting at Easter weekend. Not hiring a car what are your top tips? Where is open? Does public transport operate?

Such a fun time to visit. Our 'culture night' in Iceland this year will be on August 19th! 👀
Also a possibility to catch the northern lights if you're here during the later part of August ❤️

We are planning on a quick trip to Iceland soon and I have been looking forward to it and somewhat dreading it. I am mobility challenged and I have difficulty walking long distances or up and down hills or stairs. Do you have any tour recommendations for someone who wants to see a lot of things but cannot depend on their legs for very long?
