Hey mark! At some point I’d love if you could do just a “studio” test with the camera + the sigma 16 mm 1.4. Every test / review I’ve seen so far is talking about vlogging, but I’m more interested in using it just on a still tripod recording my face, so I’d love to see how it performs there!
Great suggestion. I don’t want to use it for vlogging, I have a cannon 90D and the clean hdmi with hdmi you can’t remove the auto focus tracking in the video. So I wanna use one of these for live streams
You’re doing great with all these ZV-E10 videos. Please keep them coming! I hope your channel gets the attention it deserves. Seriously helpful content with a bit of humor splashed in keeps me coming back for more. Stabilization looks much better than what many of the pre-release reviewers would have you think. 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing the tests. Crisis averted. I agree on the rolling shutter - no normal person is going to spazz shake the camera when filming. Only on whip pans.
Perfect. I watched all the other reviews and wondered why they all copied each other like they were being paid to read a script. A script that forced them to say it was a vlogging camera. I own a a6300 and a6400 and know the limitations so I ignored all the other reviews and watched you. Honest and real c/w iced tea. My zv-E10 arrives next week, no thanks to all the other reviewers who use A1's and A7SIII's. Sony dropped the ball on this one. When the a7XXX is announced Sony needs you to have it for the Honest and real review c/w iced tea.
Not sure when it was added, but Catalyst Browse has added a graph to show you where the footage is shakiest and provides a line on the graph to show you how much stabilization will cover it. This is really great addition and makes it easier to minimize the amount of crop needed to smooth out the part of the footage you care about.
Man, if that catalyst browse can ever get to the level of the gyro stabilization on those action cameras like the osmo action, that would be serious business. Especially if they are able to get it to work without having to crank up that shutter speed.
i have the osmo action, it doesnt use gyro but its got great stabilization. i also wonder why mirrorless cameras dont improve their stabilization, it seems most buyers would rather use a gimbal so the companies dont care as much. since most people are moving to phones which has better stabilization, these mirrorless cameras have to improve their game.
honestly, they need to put catalyst into the camera, then i would consider it as a real stabilization option, currently it feels like any other external stabilization software just alittle better.
@@truthseeker6804 That’s a nice take, but I’m guessing why companies don’t do it is twofold: A. If possible, IBIS always sells better than digital stabilisation as an option due to a lack of crop so companies want to do that instead. B. Cameras need a considerable amount of processing power to handle that precise level of stabe in camera. I mean, this video already says it took 3 minutes to render 1 minute of video on a (way more powerful than what is in a camera) computer, so we’re very far away from this level of stabe in a mirrorless, unless either the processing is miles more efficient or the body becomes unreasonably big. Edit: Oh and one more thing, no matter how good digital stabe gets in camera, I'm sure that in the end, stabilisation software in post will almost always be better because of the sheer power of computers over cameras, and that's just as true, if not even more true for the fact that a gimbal will always trump over IBIS/in camera digital stabe.
Hi Mark and "Doug"! I've been watching your videos for the last couple of weeks and I have finally subbed. I'm excited to see what else you have in store for us. I was shocked at how stable your "no stabilization" video looked! Compared to other reviews I've seen it looks unusable and I was almost going to write this camera off based on that. I'm glad I watched this! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks!! Yes, I was very surprised at how poorly the camera was handled by many reviewers. You should always aim to get smooth movements when using any camera.
Hey Mark, new subscriber here like literally 20 minutes ago. I'm very interested in getting ZV-E10 cuz this camera is the one with the specs and price that I love, just kinda worried about that active stab. and honestly I never own or used a sony camera with gyro data. But after seeing your video, I could finally make my decision to get one cuz I could say goodbye to gymbal and would not miss almost anything. Catalyst browse could solve almost all of my problem for stab. I'm a solo run-and-gun shooter so yeah, I kinda hate gymbal with a passion. Thanks Mark.
Dude! You are a gem for doing this! I'm shocked to see that catalyst browse does mitigate the rolling shutter to a degree. It was a little frustrating that people hardly covered thus subject. So thanks! I was thinking of getting an A7c to shoot with my crop lenses for video but now the zv-e10 is looking like a really good compromise.
dude, thank you! I've been waiting to get my first camera and I was between this and the m50 and I felt like this one was for me until I kept looking at all the videos. thank you so much for clarifying!! great stuff dude! we all needed some honesty like this.
Good points made. Agree that rolling shutter won't be a problem for many people. How often do you just whip your camera back and forth continuously. Catalyst Browse works great from what I have seen but totally a bummer if you are trying to speed up your workflow and not add more time to editing. Great looking tats by the way!
Anytime you use your camera for travel. Anytime you handhold it. Anytime you shoot any action. Anytime you film from the car. Catalyst browse cannot fix your jellow effect. So if you do ANY run and gun video whole sony apsc now is not usable if you need 4k. But for studio very good camera. I would bot use it for vlogging either, because catalyst browse ads a lot of burden to your workflow. You cannot use high shutter speeds for cinematic videos, and stabilizing takes so much time you’ll get easily frustrated with this process after couple of videos. Very time consuming
@@dzheyd9609 I agree that it is more suited to the studio or tripod use - this is how I mainly use it. But it is nice to know for the times when you are going to go handheld that there is the Catalyst browse option - even if it is time consuming. I do however thing the rolling shutter is combatted greatly with Catalyst, as I showed in the video.
Thanks for the video.... Answered a lot of questions I was having about the stabilization of Doug. Great product at this price. And as always, great work!!!
These videos have been fantastic. I’ve been contemplating buying my first camera. Streaming is something I’m interested in and I’ve done a couple hikes now. This camera seems perfect for both. Thanks for the good info!
Great stuff! I purchased a ZV-E10 and a sigma 30mm f/1.4 a few days ago to replace my canon rebel SL3. Huuuuuuuuge quality upgrade. Keep up the great work man!
Carlos please😫🙏🙏 reply y would you replace your sl3 over zve10 🤔🤔 I thought sl 3 is better than zv e10 🤔🤔 because it got 1000 shot battery life it can enhancing movie digital is like Ibis in body image stabilization, but in zve10 it got 440 shot battery life no ibis plus ➕sigma 30mm doesn't have stability so y would u choose zve10 over sl3 🤔🤔
@@seitinlalbaite221 I use my camera mostly for talking head and product reviews so I don’t need good stabilization as I am mostly on a tripod. With my sl3 if I record in 4K I loose dual pixel autofocus (that’s problematic) and I have a huge crop over the already cropped APS-C sensor. With the ZVE-10 I have no additional crop in 4K, I can record maintaining the amazing autofocus in 4K plus the image sharpness is much better. With the zv-e10 I also get 120fps at 1080p over the 60fps I had with the sl3. And when it comes to stabilization, with catalyst browse it’s not a problem for whenever I feel like vlogging with the camera handheld. Plus, it’s lighter for a gimbal and also the lens that I purchased is not available for EF-S mounts :)
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis It sounds that way. For me, I'm upgrading from 2 GoPro's that I've been using for all my RUclips videos for the past year. I started out with a MAX and then got a Hero 9 Black. But, it's time for me get a real camera! I was looking for something that offered the best value and ease of use for a newbie and I hope it delivers!
Great series about the ZV-E10 camera, thank you Mark, I watched most of them! I see 3 drawbacks in Catalyst browse that could make it difficult to use: - It doesn't support batch operations, which is going to be a pain if I have 200 video clips from a whole weekend adventure. - It's quite slow to render the stabilized version, for a 20 seconds video it took 2 minutes to export, that's much slower than a general rendering in Premiere (usually 6 minutes for a 10 minutes 4k video), so again, painful for 200 video clips to render :( - Last thing, I read somewhere that it doesn't do well with 1/50 shutter speed and it was recommended to use 1/200 to 1/500 instead, with the drawback that you lose the motion blur... I just got it to replace my Canon M6, I'm excited about it, but still not sure about how I'll deal with stabilization. Good thing is I got the Tamron 11-20 so I can still use active stabilization when needed!
Yes - for sure the catalyst browse will be a big pain if you have many clips. That will be a long, tedious process. I find the motion blur at 1/200 to still look very natural to my eyes when run through catalyst browse. You may want to look at Olympus as they have the best stabilization available and no need to go through any software - or try more shots on a tripod to eliminate those extra steps.
Hey Mark, i have a few questions below. Hope to hear from you 1. How do I enable only lens stabilization? 2. How do I enable electronic stabilization of the camera ? 3. How do I enable lens+camera stabilization? 4. Is standard steady shot is lens stabilization b? 5. Is active steady shot is lens+camera stabilization
This is what we need, real world application of the camera. And you made a good point that all the big review people are used to the A7SIII which of course means they'll complain about the rolling shutter. This was very informative, can't wait to order mine :)
Awesome video as always. It's a bummer active stabe mode isn't as good as the ZV-1's is, but glad to see Catalyst is amazing as expected. As soon as it's made a plug-in for NLE's I think it'll change things completely. And I bet anyone who takes the 180 degree shutter rule religiously couldn't tell which is which for most shots in a blind test.
This video reassured my purchase. I bought the camera as a gift and this had the exact lens I went for, the kit and the sigma 16mm, and thanks to that I am excited to give it to them. I look forward to the Menu Deep Dive.
Honestly if your content is good who cares if your footage is a little shaky in a vlog? And you have the option of using catalyst browse if you wanna make some cinematic smooth footage, sounds like a perfect vlogging camera for me!
although i see people say same sensor with other a6000 series cameras, there might be a possibility that this is optimized better or worse. i noticed in watching low light comparison videos of the a6000 series, the a6600 is better than the a6400, and the a6400 is better than the a6000. so i look forward to low light comparison videos, and any low light video you put up.
It’s my favourite thing to do with cameras - to get the most out of them. If you get to know your camera well and work with the limitations, you can get footage on par with very expensive gear. 👍👍

Just searching for some info on the E10's stabilization, and who pop's up? MARK! Of course. Helpful information indeed. The biggest problem with CB is that a) they charge for the usage of the batch processing and b) it takes ages to export, even on a fully specc'd out M1 Max. I wish the stabilization was A LOT better. :(

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks Mark!! Btw, can u recommend a good all round zoom lens for zve10? I was thinking about the Sony 18-105 f4 or Tamron 18-300 3.5/6.3. Can u recommend one? Or are there any other options? Btw, low light would be bad on both of these, right?
Awesome tests Mark. You managed to repeat the same actions of walking around at exactly the same pace. Do you have military training? Loved the look at rolling shutter (I'm an ex-NEX 5T and A6300 owner) test. One has to work around the rolling shutter. I was amazed at how well Catalyst Browse fixed that too.
good comparison, 5:38 the 1080p steady stabilization is better than the 4k steady stabilization. definitely the catalyst is the best but im going to use these cameras mainly in low light, so raising the shutter speed wouldnt help. i like the fact that its got alot of stabilization options, so thats good.
A Japanese RUclipsr go amazing stabilization with Final Cut Pro. I was blown away. He didn’t mention the render time but I imagine it’s much faster than catalyst browse.
So true about rolling shutter. Even though ZV1 has better rolling shutter, you can't really see it in the E10/A6xxx with regular panning. E10/6xxx image quality is so much better though compared to hazy ZV1

This was very informative, can't wait to order mine :)
it’s a great little camera
Awesome video as always. It's a bummer active stabe mode isn't as good as the ZV-1's is, but glad to see Catalyst is amazing as expected. As soon as it's made a plug-in for NLE's I think it'll change things completely. And I bet anyone who takes the 180 degree shutter rule religiously couldn't tell which is which for most shots in a blind test.
Yeah - at 1/200 with the footage smoothed out like that - it will still look completely natural.
Also do one specific video about s log and what are the color grading options it has. And before and after difference in quality. Thanks.
Here is a very good video about color grading SLog in 8-bit. ruclips.net/video/CAOdT3Wtr0c/видео.html
I know that you know that you are awesome, but just in case, just so you know, you are awesome. This is one of my favorite channels ever.
Haha - I hide my low self esteem by pretending I’m awesome 🤣🤣So it is definitely nice to hear. Thanks so much!!
This video reassured my purchase. I bought the camera as a gift and this had the exact lens I went for, the kit and the sigma 16mm, and thanks to that I am excited to give it to them. I look forward to the Menu Deep Dive.
that is such a nice gift - wow!!
Honestly if your content is good who cares if your footage is a little shaky in a vlog? And you have the option of using catalyst browse if you wanna make some cinematic smooth footage, sounds like a perfect vlogging camera for me!
so small and light - you feel like taking it everywhere!!
cant watch shaky video, a vlogging camera needs good stabilization, audio, and maybe flippy screen.
although i see people say same sensor with other a6000 series cameras, there might be a possibility that this is optimized better or worse. i noticed in watching low light comparison videos of the a6000 series, the a6600 is better than the a6400, and the a6400 is better than the a6000. so i look forward to low light comparison videos, and any low light video you put up.
yeah - there are always differences in the ways cameras are optimized. I’m curious too
No way dude! You are a wizard!!! It was amazing what you got
Yes yes most people just use roughly shaking too fast and say rolling shutter problem. I agree 👍 with your words. Thanks for information
exactly!!
Badly needed this video… Thanks🥲
I thought it was a needed first test too!!
keep up the awesome videos! i'm really impressed how you work around problems.
It’s my favourite thing to do with cameras - to get the most out of them. If you get to know your camera well and work with the limitations, you can get footage on par with very expensive gear. 👍👍
Sold I'm going to get one thanks for the great review
it’s amazing
Amazing video, thanks!!... excelente video, saludos desde chile
Thank you!!
Hola Leonardo! Vas a comprarla?
“If your whippin’ it around your gonna get a jello affect, so don't do that.”
Duhhhhh 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
This guy is pretty funny
Superb videos bro. Great presentation... keep growing.
Thanks!!
Nicely done. Im looking forward to getting my doug in the mail soon. Hopefully its already on its way. I purchased the Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD as well as the kit lens for my vloggy vlog vlog stuff.
haha - thanks!! Great setup!!
The most honest review I've ever seen! Thank you.
I appreciate that!
Mark will be the biggest camera RUclipsr without publicly showing off his portfolio! BIG WIN 🥇
I’m gonna be like Gerald Undone - all tests - no pics. Send me some so people think I’m good. 👍👍
This made my mind to go start with zv e10
Thanks a lot for the amazing video
yes, this camera is really a powerhouse for the price.
Great video. Love your efforts
great video! very informative! Thanks!
Hey man, your video is the most amazing one i ever seen this month focusing on the new zv e10. Now i know… tomorrow I’ll buy mine with the kit lens. Thanks a lot and continue to inspire me…you have a new follower 😜😜😜
Thanks so much!!
Okay you have made me get this damn camera
Love your content man.
looks good! thanks for the video
No problem!!
I tuned in to watch the nasty rolling shutter but surprised that catalyst browse software either stabilized or there was no Wobble as hyped up before!
Yes - unfortunately a bunch of RUclipsrs are turning people off this very good camera by focusing on a problem that is easily overcome. 👍👍
"they're looking at Doug and swinging it around" -- calling all other ZVE-10's Doug is hilarious
🤣
Very useful!
Thanks,keep it up ✌️
Thanks!!
Hey Guys! Just got mine yesterday and I agree with Him... use this camera like human being (no pun intended) and its great! Thanks for showing us that this is not really as bad as what others thinks... this is perfect for content creators on a budget... just imagine how many talented creators out there who will have the chance to have a cheaper but decent sony alpha mirrorless camera... creativity will be unleashed! Great Vid man!
This comment is exactly why I started making these videos. I thought it was a shame that new creators weren’t being told how great this camera could be for them. Thanks for letting them know!!
Great work!
Thanks!!
very detailed test, i am very impressed with this. is it possible to make a low light catalyst stabilization test? try with high shutter speed and normal shutter speed. i heard catalyst can be worse in low light.
I’ll give it a whirl
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks alot, would be beneficial for most people also in the long term.
i love you way to do it with humour not to much serious thanks !
love you man
keep making on zve10
i love it and i have new one now
such a great camera
'check out my tats..... don't have any' - OK I actually LOL'd hearing that. Thank you for the comparison! This is super helpful for me as I'm looking for a better vlogging camera that won't break the bank but still delivers good quality. I'm currently shooting on a Sony a7ii and while it's beautiful for when I'm BEHIND the camera, but a disaster when I'm in front of it for a variety of reasons. You're helping convince me this camera is worth it....
Thanks - haha. yes, I have an A7iii and if I have to film myself doing anything - it is such a pain to use.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yes it's a struggle! It doesn't help I'm 5'4" and my arms aren't long enough to hold the camera away from my face most of the time. A smaller camera sounds lovely!
@@NorthIdahoNomads get a little tripod that extends out too - like Kasey from Camera Conspiracies. That’ll give you 6’4 arms!! 🤣🤣
This is me watching your first video, and you gained a subscribers, dang man really good stuff . Keep it up mate👍
Thanks!! 👍👍
You realny rock at vlogging. Really enjoy your comparisons videos.
haha thanks.
Honestly I've been worried about this camera's performance with all the negative reviews that had been coming out.. regardless, I still pre-ordered... because duh.. it's the only one that I can afford.. after seeing this video.. it gave me some sigh of relief so thank you.. and yes, please create a lot of tutorials and lens suggestions for this camera. It'll be my first time buying an actual camera.. and I really really am betting on sony to make a first good impression.. and oh, new subscriber here.. xx
Thanks!! don’t worry - lots of ZV-E10 tutorials coming up!!
u are going to hit 100k soon
lots of love from India ❤️
Planning to buy Zve10 once it is available here
Very nice of you to say!!
Sub here! Aiming towards this camera because of this video. Thanks man! keep it up!🍻
If you are comfortable with the Catalyst Browse workflow - it is a game changer for sure. I have some other vids on it. Thanks for the sub!! 👍👍
Ohhhhh buddy! It's on! Footage looks great! Doug, your new best friend 🤘 Looking forward to a barrage of videos
Flood gates are open - tidal wave of Doug!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Super excited for you and the direction things are going. I'll be along for the ride shortly, just more ugly and less funny 😛
You are so witty and brilliant I had to like and subscribed right away. I have the A7C and love the gyro data. It is like my action cameras, no need for a gimbal which makes any camera EPIC!!! Thank, Mark, for pointing things out that people seem the miss like the gyro data...with respect, craig
Thanks!! The gyro is a very underrated feature.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I agree 100%. Keep up the great work mark
Amazing !!!! Great going !!!
Thank you!! 👍
Very honest review! Just ordered mine!
I’m sure you’re gonna love it. Congrats!! 👍
if the ZV-E10 had a viewfinder it would have been a no brainer perfect beginner's camera
Absolutely. Great price, but a viewfinder would have made the photography aspect so much better.
Great review can’t wait to see the further videos
Thanks, Ian!!
Wow, its crazy how much better your non-stabilized footage looks compared to most other reviews where it looks like they were jittering all over the place. You and iphonedo (who got amazing results) seem to be the only ones trying to get some decent results from the camera. Great job.
loved iPhonedo’s review. I was surprised at how poorly the others used the camera - almost like they were trying to get bad results.
Great review! As u said, many ppl are swinging the camera around to make some negative review, while practically it won't happen. Great point!! I'm going to get my zve10! Or do u see a zve10 mark2 launch soon?
I don’t think they’ll update it for 2 years. Possibly one year - but my guess is 2
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks Mark!! Btw, can u recommend a good all round zoom lens for zve10? I was thinking about the Sony 18-105 f4 or Tamron 18-300 3.5/6.3. Can u recommend one? Or are there any other options? Btw, low light would be bad on both of these, right?
Damn! Thanks for this.
I love your style very much... all the way to 172 mil! ;)
haha, thanks!! Matter of time 🤣🤣
Love this video! Subscribed!!!!
Yay! Thank you!
I’m not always so successful at the pace - but I nailed it in this vid 🤣🤣
good comparison, 5:38 the 1080p steady stabilization is better than the 4k steady stabilization. definitely the catalyst is the best but im going to use these cameras mainly in low light, so raising the shutter speed wouldnt help. i like the fact that its got alot of stabilization options, so thats good.
my old eyes aren’t the best!! But yeah - these options are great.
Excellent!
Great video Mark! Straight to the point! I subscribed on your channel
Thanks!!
This cute little thing is not too heavy, I think a little gimbal will work great with it
Thank you.. i need your thought about the camera..😁😁
A Japanese RUclipsr go amazing stabilization with Final Cut Pro. I was blown away. He didn’t mention the render time but I imagine it’s much faster than catalyst browse.
can you show me the video - for me final cut does not stabilize well and it takes just as long as catalyst.
So true about rolling shutter. Even though ZV1 has better rolling shutter, you can't really see it in the E10/A6xxx with regular panning. E10/6xxx image quality is so much better though compared to hazy ZV1
I came to Sony store earlier today and it really doesn't feel cheap when I hold it on my hand , maybe plastic , but not cheap plastic , so , I ordered one . Yeah
it really doesn’t feel cheap - fully agree. 👍👍
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis and these level rolling shutter doesn't bother ma at all , maybe because i love cartoon , it just make the boring reality looks cute a little bit .
Thanks for show us Sony ZV-E10 stabilization. I was dubt if it's worth it, but I think it's worth it.
I love mine!! 👍👍
I loved this video so much! Thank you a dozen!! I wish you can elaborate more on the ideal lens for someone on a tight budget cuz I am willing to ditch the kit lens for the sigma 16mm!
Thanks!! The Siigma 16, 30, and 56 are the best lenses I know of for the camera. I currently have the 16 - I’ll try to do a lens video for the ZV-E10
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis awesome! appreciate you work, man! 👏🏼👏🏼
Just the video i was looking for, there is less rolling shutter with Full HD.
Great review! I think I had the same guy say I didn't own the camera! 😂 Great review! Keep up the great work!
You did indeed. I read his comment on your page as well🤣🤣
Right, catalyst browse is good for video stabilisation, but it also requires a lot of rendering time...I also think as you, that its worth it, but the decision is close...
