Russia having to use smaller vehicles for supply is great. There is an economy of scale to larger vehicles. Using smaller ones increases maintenance costs, labor demands and most importantly fuel consumption. While Russia is awash in crude oil, the same is not true for gasoline and diesel. Russia has not only stopped exporting these but has actually begun importing them.

As an economist, Konstantin from Inside Russia did a really good take on Belousov's appointment earlier on today, basically saying he has no chance exerting cost/price controls on its arms industry.
Sounds to me like putler dismantled power networks inside the defence apparatus (Shoigu just being a titular head) and has brought in a total stranger with no existing defence connections to head off any possibility of a palace coup.

Regarding the helicopter crash. 40 year old helicopter, spare parts embargoed, flying over mountains with 50 metres visible. I think this will fit the accident category of "controlled flight into terrain".
Also, possible. I spoke with a military pilot who was in a crash with that model of helicopter. They are not designed to fly at altitude, the helicopter lost lift, lost altitude and hit a ridge.
Sounds like poor decisions, rather than any conspiracy theories.

Logistics can be a massive problem if the supply lines are disrupted or prevented from functioning. Just think about water, now that it's getting hotter. The average soldier needs say 4 litres a day, more if it's hot weather. simple maths 30 thousand troops 120000 ltrs everyday. It doesn't matter how well the other supplies lines are functioning without enough water an army will fall apart.

Many European allies, including nuclear powers UK and France, let Ukraine use weapons on 'military' in Russia. The Baltic/Scandinavian NATO members gave cross-border use much earlier. USA is increasingly out of step with NATO allies who realise giving Russia haven provides Russia benefit whilst denying Ukraine legitimate DEFENSIVE action.

This war comes down to how long Russia wants their economy to suffer affecting their international prestige as a world power and how long we in the West want to keep Ukraine's abysmal economy afloat. I support all your assumptions about the Kharkiv sector. I am more cautious about the new player, the russian Defence Minister, as he is untested in this position and I would not be making any assumptions about his capabilities. If he said somethin like "We should make our own components" he could be referring to the rare materials and electric motors of the drones, which are very simple. Chips are something different, and they source them through other means anyway. If you read about Germany/Third Reich Armaments Minister - Albert Speer you would find that he had little experience in the field but got Germany to maximum production in mid 1944, after their main factories had been destroyed, by parting out to component factories and doing just the final assembly in one place. (Something Ukraine should be doing all the time in these days.) Enjoying the VLog.

As an American, I apologize for my government's terrible handling of these matters as the "supposed leader of the free world." If this administration provided Ukrainians with F-16, , Patriot batteries, ATACM, and Abrams tanks in late 2022 Ukraine would totally have the upper hand, and that many lives could have been spared. Our leaders lack the kind of courage needed to lead out as the "Arsenal of Democracy."

As a US citizen who follows our political system closely, I don’t see any likely scenario where the restrictions on the use of USA provided munitions within the internationally recognized borders of Russia to be lifted. Such a move would be seen as reckless.
That said I don’t fault people to complain about it. Most productively would be to argue for investment in Ukrainian based companies for their own domestic materiel though. I believe the USA has already dedicated $2billion or so towards this end?
How about a scheme where the USA or whomever buys Ukrainian produced drones now but with delivery in say 2035? Seems probable that any post war Ukraine which manages to be independent and sovereign will have some of the better drone production in the world in the 2030s. And the drone funding now is priceless. Just a thought.

If memory serves, it was a French member of the government who said France should begin seriously thinking about giving "green light". There is no green light yet. These are just political "ballons d'essai", you launch a proposal, you see the reactions. It's no small decision. I think both the US and Europe are waiting for some time more, as they have already crossed another "red line" in deciding to send non-armed personnel, and long-range ATACMS, which are playing havoc in Crimea. It seems that there is a "slow and steady escalation" from Europe and the US.
