@Jamesons Travels, Stolen Valor types are still around. I came across two in my neck of the woods, with the last dude claiming to be some sort of Delta/CIA/Super Squirrel type faking the PTSD emotions. Earlier times I would have called them out, but now I laugh and walk away.

I pretended to be an Army Ranger for several years because I thought it was cool, I stopped doing that when I decided to pretend to be an astronaut instead, pre-school through 5th grade was an exciting time for me.

My MOS is tactical driver, door pre-firer, google translate guy, I speak Portuguese, Russian, Spanish the way espanol mess up their ingles. I am also a pilot, brigade commander, recovery vehicle, squad leader. I also play possum. Another MOS specialty of mine is trees, I get my guys up in trees in the edge of the cap zones. I am the pre-fire don't peek my territory make you surrender technique MOS master at baiting, air space locked down.

My issue with stolen valor really comes down to people trying to profit off of it. Most people in the military and vets don't even utilize the majority of their available benefits because they feel weird about it.
Well, that’s stupid. They should use their benefits. They went and died some of them at least, and fight for a regime that isn’t worthy of being supported they deserve compensation.

Then we come back, and people thank us and congragulate us for things they could never understand. Then they offer us discounts because they feel they need to compensate us. It was never about being compensated.
Stolen valor is illegal when used for financial gain.
My husband is a double amputee and is often asked if he is a veteran. It would be so easy for him to say yes and get so much from people, but he would NEVER say he was a veteran since he is not. I'm proud of him for telling the truth and not taking advantage of people wanting to help veterans.

some dude started grilling me for wearing my dads flight line coat in the winter. The coat my dad, who was in the military for 15 years, gave me. I was just like" my pops gave me this and its dope and warm". Still have it and will always have it. I'm proud of his service.
As someone who has been issued many flight line jackets I can confirm, they are dope. Also, kit is supposed to be worn and not left in a closet to be forgotten.

I am retired Army. Sometimes I have thrown on an old Army jacket when I needed it. When called out for stolen valor and hearing the tired cliché "My friends died for that uniform," my response is "Do you want to die for this one?" I did not do three combat tours to put up with this horseshit.

I have no problem when guys/their kids wear the jacket, jeans and some sneakers and leave off the patches in a safe place at home. NOBODY should be called out for wearing a camo jacket... only uneducated uptight retards get mad over a jacket... My problem is when pieces of shits somehow get ahold of the whole set uniform they didn't earn and then wear the uniform with the ranks to pretend they're actively serving.

I got medically descharged 2 years ago. I still have the wet weather jacket. It's perfect for rain. So far I've had no problems when wearing it, but the way some people are I'm not holding my breath.
I was in the Army over 50 years ago and we had a joker that would do a skit claiming to be the only recipient of the Medal of Honor with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. His stories would include jumping into Hanoi to assassinate Ho Chi Minh but lost his equipment bag in the jump so all he had left to fight with was a dull butter knife leftover from breakfast. He was a hoot.

I don't care if guys wear camo and other similar clothing. Wearing an old army or service jacket is not "Stolen Valor". My friends and I grew up wearing old army jackets that we bought from the army surplus store (an old barn) when we were teenagers, mostly because we thought they looked cool, were cheap and they kept us warm and were a little bit better in the snow and rain. We didn't wear any rank or rate insignia and we weren't trying to mislead anybody. We all also joined various branches of the service after we graduated high school. What I do object to is people wearing military uniforms and trying to get over and mislead people and making crap up about their military service which is usually non-existent, or wildly overstated. Those idiots piss everybody off.
I agree with you. When it comes to kids. Let them wear it. It could be some of the only stuff they can get in their situation.

I agree with you, I bought an old desert storm era Chocolate Chip camo jacket from a surplus store a few years ago because I thought it was cool and it was surprisingly useful in depressing cold Iowa weather. Never claimed to be military or anything as such. I did get questioned by a 2ndLT one time because he was curious how I found a desert storm jacket for sale. Lol

While I don't wear hats, if some other old guy wants to be identified and I'm waiting in a grocery line or some such, I might speak with them briefly. Where were you, what year, etc. Life is too short to rag people out over things that mean nothing.

IKR, it's always Infantry or Tankers! I know just enough about Infantry to call someone's BS, only because I was 13F2P and would always go out in the field with them, but I know nothing about Armor. I worked with a guy once who claimed to be an Iraq war vet. I'm pretty sure he served in some capacity, maybe as a tanker as he claimed, but he also said he was a Scout (another MOS I'm not all that familiar with), and in 2017, he was 50 (Possibly a late enlistment). Claimed he was shot 3 times. A tank he was in was blown up by an RPG, and the Humvee that was taking him to a field hospital had hit an IED. I'm guessing that's 5 PH's.
He told so many lies about so many things, that we just had to assume he was lying about the military as well.
The most "action" I saw in DS/DS was a scud missile that landed about 5km from us. It was almost an equal distance between 3 different units so we had no idea who the target was. All I know is we were put into MOPP 4 immediately for the rest of the day. Good times!

Here in Germany "Stolen Valor" isn't really a thing because who'd want to spend money to buy a uniform just to at best be ignored or at worst be insulted for wearing it in public. 🤷♂️
Germany used to have conscription until recently. So it wouldn't have really been stolen valour.

the mental patients are said. meet my fair share over the years with some big time vietnam stories. always listen and enjoy the ride. frankly, i could care less. however on vietnam units etc, its something i have side hobby in.
My dad was fuel truck driver driver in the Army during the Gulf War and he was never deployed. However, he would never, talk up his service. He's pretty nonchalant about it, as is my my brother who is a combat veteran (USMC).
So it's pretty disgusting that there vets who hype up there service.

If it's such a big deal that their friends died in those uniforms, why aren't they out shaming the surplus stores that sell the stuff instead of some kid wearing a BDU shirt from 1990? I'm with you. I kinda get that. Surplus stores help with the economy and most use the money to help vets. I don’t think the issue is people buying pieces or uniforms in whole from surplus. Most purchasers use it for non-stolen valor reasons.
The issues more the *false claims* or wanting discounts/free money. Stolen valor can happen with or without the uniform.
I agree I often wear a long sleeve United States Navy T-shirt and a plain Navy Patch cover in honor of my Grandfather who fought and nearly died in WW2. And all my uncles and cousin and friends who fought in all the wars and conflicts after that. I went into a surplus store and bought a white navy blouse and cover. The lady that sold it to me asks what I was doing with it. I said I was going to a custom party. After that when I got home I took it off washed it and hung it up. Never to wear it again.

I don't know why more veterans were ever told the rules. As long as all the insignias are removed anybody can wear US issued camo clothing. If the insignias are still left on then it's illegal.

@@benkurtz1773 Judging by the welcome that homecoming soldiers recieved after Vietnam I wouldn't think that anyone would claim to be a Vietnam vet let alone wear the uniform.
I've found that Army surplus BDUs make great work shirts (especially older woodland camo...they're great for hiding grease stains). They outlast regular work shirts and are cheap to buy. As long as someone isn't wearing unit patches, rank, U.S. Army tags or trying to scam a discount, I can't see the big deal. The problem comes from somebody trying to be what they're not.
BDU pieces, especially in Woodland camo, look absolutely fantastic. I can see someone wearing them just because of that, not to look like a soldier.
I agree. It's pretty common in China for construction workers to wear old camouflage uniforms because they're tough and durable.
I still wear a lot of my old MARPATs and Army BDUs(got Army stuff BC I went IA a few times) for working on my vehicles and doing yard work. I don't wear my Type1 NWU though because they are garbage
In New England, hunters prefer those camouflage outfits.
I went to Kuwait as a civilian right after the shooting stopped in 91. We were told to go down to the surplus store and buy a uniform. They had the full desert camo BDUs and the desert boots. We wore them to get us though the checkpoints faster. We met up with some Georgia National Guard over there and they had the jungle BDUs and couldn't get the desert ones as they weren't available. They were surprised when we told them we got them at a surplus store. The desert camo worked great hunting deer in the fall on the islands of Prince William Sound.
As soon as the fake valor start talking. Anybody who was or in the service we know immediately it's a fake valor. Most times all we have to do is look at them to know it's a fake valor .

Happened to me at Luke before. We used to do “morale shirt Friday” when we wore ABUs. My unit wore bright gold undershirts. Old vets need to do some research before they try to call people out lol

Had that happen a couple of times. Had fun with it up to a point. The biggest problem is that the young studs forget that things change over the years. I was in from 86 to 90. What was true for me may not apply today. When they get too obnoxious, I snapped into command voice and proceed to dress them down like I learned from Gunny in Full Metal Jacket.

I served in Golden Corral when I was only 17 and witnessed so much horrific behavior I’m still suffering from nightmares to this day. We all held the line to the buffet on Sunday when the gates would open at noon after church and hell let loose. I can’t even begin to describe the utter waste left behind when the doors finally closed.

I agree with you that the last guy doesn't look like he's doing anything wrong. The only thing I'd change is I'd have him remove the name tag, unless that's actually his name. As for everything else - He's not wearing badges or unit patches, so he's not impersonating anybody, and that means he's good to go. Leave him alone, cameraman!

I'm a retired Marine and I wanted to thank you for explaining what stolen valor actually means. Their are alot of these stolen valor police idiots that will accuse someone of stolen valor just because they see someone wearing a camouflage uniform or sweatpants even though it has no name tapes or affiliation or medals. Then they start ranting about how their fellow military brothers & sisters died in that uniform!!!

Camo can be a style. I have a camo jacket, I have camo pants. Does that mean I'm impersonating? Does me wearing a BDU jacket with the flag of my country simply because I like it mean I'm trying to take away from service members/vets? Hey Jameson. I am a vet, my son and my youngest is at Camp Pendelton in infrantry training. I am also a retired cop and law school. Anyone telling someone to take off a uniform jacket not being worn to defraud is committing a crime! A crime you say. YES, if you use force or fear, that includes intimidation, that is an element! So leave the nuts alone, or anyone not bothering anyone. It is freedom of expression and yes you have to deal with it just like freedom of speech!

I’m sure someone has already said this but red pen is used on aircraft forms in the Air Force. Pretty common to be in that pocket for aircraft mechanics.

When you get out of the military, they don't take your uniforms back, or they didn't. As long as you take your patches and stuff off you can wear the BDU's. I wore the bottoms a lot and my field jacket a lot(with and without the liner). I was comfortable and the jacket was warm. If you served you would know there is nothing wrong with that, it is a little odd wearing almost a complete uniform, but to each their own.
Some people just want to be A-holes. Not even military related, I was on a job, wearing a shirt for a company I did work for, someone on the job (think he owned the building), didn't like that company, asked me why I was wearing it, I said it was clean, he told me to change it or turn it inside out. I said does it really bother you that much, he said Yes, and had a triumphant look on his face. I called my helper over, I said pack it all up, we are leaving. The guy says what are you doing? I said if you are going to give me crap over the shirt I am wearing, you can find someone else to do the job, we packed up an left, I got a bunch of calls saying to go back, he won't say anything about the shirt. The guy I was doing the job for was pissed at me, I say look I have been doing this too long, if you have someone worried about my shirt because the company name on it upsets him, that entire job will be one headache after another.
Weeks later I get a call, they found someone else to do the work, I was right, they could not do anything on the job right, the owner complained about everything.
I think Gulf War era vets are the last guys to continue wearing there field jackets.
Most guys sell all their uniforms to the local surplus store when they get out.

They weren't issuing M65 field jackets when I came of age but I bought one because I wanted one. Didn't notice till I got home it was manufactured in the year I was born (kinda neat and made it sentimental to me). A lot of us wear surplus because its usually cheap, durable, and we just like it. Pieces can be "fashionable" I guess as long you're not looking like an out of work mercenary (been guilty of that occasionally).
I like to think of surplus almost like good will. Someone else didn't want this, so I'm going to buy it, use it, and take care of it. Most of my surplus gear has taken on sentimental value to me. I'm usually never caught without a field jacket liner. Tag is worn but my liner is probably early 80s and just wondering where its been over the years is an interesting thought. Also love the poncho liners, field pants, and some of the rain gear.
I wore my BDU trousers and field jacket until the trousers were shredded and I "outgrew" the field jacket. I also wore the Class A rain jacket (trench coat), I was so said when I "outgrew" that. When I got into welding, I wore the BDU tops as a welding jacket, best work shirts I ever owned.
When I got out in 91, I never even considered selling them to a pawn shop or surplus store. I did sell off my extra TA-50 though. Turned my "Inspection" set into CIF and sold the stuff I took to the field.

i wear my uncles old defender shirt (the one where its like a dry fit t-shirt then the sleves are camo and have the pouches) when i go on runs, its conveinent and breathable, and i can also carry my phone and wallet without risking them falling out of my shorts. i havent served a day in my life and he did 11years in the seal teams and he will wear another one of them and go on runs with me

Whenever a soldier says, "seabag," it's an instant tipoff that he's lying. Soldiers carry their gear in a duffle bag. Sailors and Marines use a seabag. These saps in unearned uniforms baffle me. Beyond a few occasional 10% military discounts

You know I was surprised one day when we were playing snowbird having traveled from South Dakota to Arizona to avoid the cold. We had been shopping in a Safeway Store in Bullhead City Arizona and at checkout the lady asked me if I were a Veteran. I replied that I was and got the discount. I never really brag about being a Vet, I do have a Vet hat that I wear when I go to the Legion Hall for a beer but it stays in my rig when I am traveling. I did appreciate the discount though, thought it was nice. Perhaps it was my short haircut, such things do sort of stay with you after you leave the Army.

i swear drill seargents are the most relaxed and funnest people to be with, my uncle still goes out drinking with his instructor from bud/s some almost 30 years after he graduated
Some of us got held a couple of days after boot camp waiting for our flight out. The drill sergeants had us shining brass all weekend to keep us out of their hair. They told us to be in the common room at 1800 and showed up in civilian clothes with pizzas and beer. Turns out those guys were some of the coolest people I'd ever met.
Please don't refer to stupid people as "On the spectrum of Autistic", that's massively offensive to autistic people, we are wired different but we are far from stupid and have (in general) a much more definitive understanding of right and wrong. An autistic person if FAR less likely to steal valour than a non-autistic person and a lot of us are extremely intelligent even if we don't have the best social skills.
I've said the same thing: I think stolen valor cases fall under two categories, those with low IQs, maybe a personality disorder who just dont know how wrong it is to play dress up, then there are the scumbags who try to get money or women by lying about being a soldier. It's sick. If you wanna be a soldier, enlist.

The scam artists should be punished in some way. The mentally deficient should be left alone to play dress up. In any case, I stopped dressing up like a sailor when I was a little kid. Then when I was an adult I tried to enlist and they wouldn't have me. I went through a lot of hoops to try to change their mind but they were insistent so I went to work in manufacturing to make things the military needed until they started to outsource those things to China. Now I manage a restaurant and give free food to vets when I can. I encounter the occasional fake. My point is if you can't serve your country one way then try another even if it's to volunteer to make care packages to send to servicemen overseas.

I wasn't an enlisted military service man, but I was in the army band. I had been marching and playing all day for the army for free. I think I deserved the drink. The backs of my hands got really sunburned so that's half a purple heart right there.

Wish I'd had known you didn't have to enlist for this. I play French Horn and the Air Force wanted me for the band. I couldn't Enlist because of an uncorrectable legally blind left eye. I was a kick ass horn player then (20+ years ago). I'm still decent now, but back then I was damn good.
I always thought stolen valor meant displaying medals you didn’t earn. But honestly, army surplus is a thing in many countries and sometimes people just clothes on their backs.
The legal requirement for stolen valor convictions is to display (or describe) medals you didn't earn in order to obtain a thing of value, a discount, speaking fees, a sales contract based on your silver star or something.
The common man definition is simply claiming military service you didn't do. That could be a sign when you are panhandling, could be a uniform, could be a tattoo, whatever.

I forget to ask for my military discounts, actually feel kind of silly doing it, to be honest. I retired at twenty from the Navy. I was a jet mech. 99% of my medals/ribbons were ‘been there’ awards.

In Ireland you have to serve overseas for them. 6 month tour at a time.
I've seen Americans with 15 or 20 ribbons for what, what did they do for them, a course, a combat run ??

@@siemonjf He's taking about the Airman's Battle Uniform. That uniform was in commission from 2007 to 2021. It was worn by both the Air Force and the Space Force.
A civilian wearing parts of a uniform or an army hat or whatever is not stolen valor. Vets yelling at people for that is just as cringe as the actual stolen valor.
It's embarrassing, these people want their time in the spot light.

After the job was done, we went to the gas station to fill up the jugs and buy a can of Pepsie ($1). Nobody gave a 2d thought to our clothes keeping us safe. Everyone is too "hurt".

I’m a Marine Vietnam war veteran. I bought an army field jacket at a army navy surplus store. There were no Marine field jackets. I wear it on my walk on cold days. Haven’t had any problems so far with anybody questioning me about stolen valor. I always have my disabled veterans card (PTSD) on me.
I have my father's field jacket from his time in Vietnam. I've had people ask me if I've served prior to my own enlistment and I'd answer accordingly because it wasn't my honor but now I can say with pride it is my honor to serve like my father did. However my dad was army 70-71 in country and I'm in my MOS training in the marines. Oorah!

I'm a Navy vet and during winter months I wear my USN issued pea coat with the rating patch removed. Also a USN deck jacket. They kept me warm while I served and they keep me warm now. I also wear the Vietnam era type ripstop fatigue shirts on camp trips as they're comfortable in warmer weather. Wearing those I would never put up with anyone trying to hassle me over stolen valor.

There’s a case where there’s an old man accused of stolen valor because his uniform was are up. Turns out he was legit but he was too old and had dementia so his uniform was sloppy… they beat him up. I don’t stand for that stuff. I’m a former Army Combat Engineer, and I would never approach anyone doing stolen valor. Most I’d do is just shake my head and chuckle.

I was a SgtMajColonel stationed on the USS 304 in Alaska and we conducted black ops in the MCX of popeyes and McDonald's and took two casualties in the Afghanistan latrine mine fields. Was awarded and donut cross and grape heart. Served from 1900-2021.

@10:44 - I'm a Navy Veteran that served between '87 and '95, Desert Storm veteran. Even after all of these years I still like wearing BDU's and ACU's though I have the rank removed and the only badging/pins that I have on are the US Navy insignia, my ships badge (USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71) and a Desert Storm Veteran pin. I usually wear the BDU top as a light weather jacket. Personally I don't really care if someone wears a working uniform just as long as they are not actively trying to pass themselves off as something that they are not.
Why pick on people who want to just wear a uniform. When my kid was 15 he was wearing camo army and an army girl confronted him...a kid...people can wear just dont say you s serverd

I had an interesting story. I was headed into Chicago in June or July it was early morning about 0630 or 0730. Anyway I didn't bring a jacket with me because it was going to be 75 to 80 degrees out. but walking into Chicago after getting off the train I was freezing. I was walking under an over pass. I looked down and there was a ripped of tattered military field jacket ( light tan) Even though it smelled like cigarettes and alcohol but I picked it up put it on and it did its job; gave me some protection from the cold. When I was done for the day I still had it on and I was unshaven about a weeks growth and there were some real old time military vets (they were talking) He looked over at me "You can tell'em dude. You been in the S**T!" I walked over to him and looked him straight in the eye. I said "Sir I am not in the military, but I do help you guys when you come back." He said something that I will never forget the rest of life. "That's just as important as being over there."
I called out one dude because I thought he was stolen valor because I felt he was off about his unit and duty station. I went to the va hospital with my uncle for our appointment and I saw this dude. My uncle knew him and they were in the same unit but different companies. I felt so bad I treated the man for lunch. He was a homeless vet but the va helped him get housing and he’s rated at 80 percent and I’m happy for the man.

I am 62 years old. I was Army 42 years ago. But before that, as a teen. I had an old brown wool Eisenhower jacket I liked to wear. Nobody ever confused me for a WWII vet. Not did I claim so.😃
For me personally the camouflage uniform isn’t really all that significant. It changes so much that it’s hard for it to mean anything. I have more of a problem with service or dress uniforms and claiming if various exploits and medals. Especially Purple Hearts and valor medals.

When going from BDU to ABU, we (non commissioned USAF Auxiliary) we’re told to abide by *all* USAF Policy, Customs, and Courtesy.
- This *obviously* included uniform, and we were (my flight) specifically told *every morning during uniform inspection* NOT to use the “pen pocket”

The problem: I was once "accosted" by a guy who kept throwing questions at me about my service time. In the discussion just prior I mentioned I was a Vietnam Veteran (USAF). I didn't have a uniform on. I wasn't BS'ing him with old "war stories". I just answered his question. But he just kept asking MORE questions.. OBVIOUSLY attempting to trip me up...and nail me to the wall as a "stolen valor" creep. From that time on I started carrying my DD-214 in my wallet. (BUT guess what?: NOWHERE on my DD-214 does it say I was in Vietnam. It gives the commands I was under and the last aircraft I flew, back in the States.... but NO WHERE does it say I was a Vietnam Veteran. SO...bottom line...If someone takes it upon himself to call out a "Stolen Valor" scammer, for claiming they were in Vietnam....how do I and probably THOUSANDS of others who served in Vietnam, who have the same "writeup" on their DD-214...PROVE that we were there? PLUS......It's my understanding that even IF a person IS a scammer, it's no longer ILLEGAL to prosecute them for it. So what's the point of all those confrontations?
It was never illegal to say you were a Vietnam veteran (or any veteran at all) though, but I agree with you.
GWOT Vet here. Mine actually does day it, but in the typed remarks section. I guess it’s on the admin who fills out the form whether it’s in there or not. Of course I’m sure the form has changed once or twice since Vietnam.
@@bigbake132 No expert on the law but I believe Congress DID pass a law making it illegal. That law was overturned, I believe, by a Supreme Court decision. BUT...I also believe if one attempts to use a fake veteran status to obtain money or benefits, certainly from the government, THAT is still illegal.
@@badguy1481 Claiming to be a veteran or wearing a uniform was never illegal. There's a lot of misconceptions about what took place and what happened. So the original Stolen Valor Act made it illegal to wear certain decorations (MOH, Purple Heart, Silver Star, etc.) but never uniforms or claims. Then this guy (Alvarez) said he won the Medal of Honor and then challenged the law. It went to the Supreme Court and the court struck down the law (1st Amend.). Then congress passed a new law adding the additional act of trying to make money while wearing (or claiming) those decorations. Both laws only dealt with those handful or decorations, and had nothing to do with uniforms or claiming service. It was NEVER illegal or simply wear a uniform to falsely claim military service. If someone fakes military status to gain money or benefits, then it falls under basic fraud, and doesn't technically have anything to do with the Stolen valor Act. Hope that helps!

30 years ago I got accused of this. I was a tour guide at an air museum.....the museum uniform was air force inspired but the shirt and the epaulets bore the museum name. What I didn't get was I got called out at an airshow while giving a tour of one of the museums aircraft. At the time I thought guy calling me out was drunk.
I did this in my first year of college, after 9/11 happened. I pretended to be a 1st responder in Dec, 2001. It still haunts me I was so fucking stupid and dishonorable. 21 years ago and I still hate myself for it.

Only an honorable man is willing to fess up to and take responsibility for their past actions that were less than honorable, so you can and need to forgive yourself for something you did when you were younger and by default dumber... We've all done dumb 💩 when we were young, so as long as a lesson was learned and no one was intentionally harmed, there's no point in continuing to beat yourself up over the past.

@@jarheadlife Never thought of that but you're right. It is an Army person that usually does that. I went to Iraq 20 years ago and thankfully we didn't lose anyone. This dude sounds like a youngster and I'm very curious "What Friends This Dude Lost" if any at all. Honestly, I bet the house this dude never got deployed anywhere.
@@jarheadlife The Army didn't allow us to run around town in BDU's either, BUT we were allowed to stop at a gas station, fast food joint, or bank on our way to or from post. Lord help you if you were caught in a Mall or something while in BDUs.

I'm former Army from the ACU era and you are correct about the pens; having a red pen in one of those pen pockets is going to cause you some trouble eventually.

doesn't matter what pen you have. along as pen must fit inside pen pockets completely. It doesn't show outside.
@@rennas4619 Back in the mid to later 2000's anyway, it pissed certain types of NCO's off to have a red pen because you aren't supposed to fill out any official documents in anything other than black ink.
The "friends that died" guys always crack me up. They are quick to throw the sympathy line and then you come to find out that the dude's MOS was a computer technician. What level of Call of Duty did your friends die in? These guys are almost as clownish as the actual stolen valor village idiots.
Exactly this. 99% of the people who say "my friends died in that uniform" never happened. Majority of the military is non-combat roles, yet like half of them on these videos are a) infantry b) saw combat c) actually suffered casualties

My dad was in the Navy during Vietnam and he doesn’t even think it was all that big of a deal. I asked him about people like this once and he said that people like these guys just have nothing else in life to make them feel good about themselves. It’s pretty pathetic. You actually end up feeling sorry for them.
This one guy that says he's been out. The guy with the camera should leave him alone. We served to protect, not bully. His shirt does not have a US Army tag. Just a name tag. so he's in the right to wear it. This was not stolen valor. Keep it real guys.
I remember a pub I used to work a in England was near an RAF base, so these middle aged fellers in business attire order lunch and a beer, and as he went to pay he said something was wrong, it was too cheap for what they ordered, i said "no, we do a military discount"... he was suspicious and asked how I knew he was in the Military, "because when you opened your wallet I could see your military ID Group Captain", he said " YOU SHOULD BE A SPY!"
One thing is stolen valor which I deeply despise, another thing is simply wearing some old surplus garment which is perfectly legal. A lot of people does not claim anything, they just dress the way they want. Bothering and accusing them is shameful

I am glad when "Stolen Valour" is exposed and the people become publicly shamed except when the person is mentally challenged. As a past serving member of the Canadian military it does not bother me to share my uniform with these special people and I would hope the American veterans feel the same.

@@lieutenantpliskin Thank you. These mentally challenged are not in Stolen Valour taking jobs that rightly belong to veterans or getting girlfriends. I look at it as them being like children and the military uniforms are part of their play world. As for Stolen Valour stealing from veterans I am for their exposure and applicable laws hitting them hard.
