  • Vintage Story Desert Life is a desert-themed survival playthough in version 1.19, with a large list of mods to speed up the process of building and chiseling. While our builds will all (or at least mostly) be in the desert, we are not restricted to hot and arid climates for the purposes of gathering materials and resources.
This series exists as a series of VODs, as well, but for people who prefer their videos in a more manageable length, the VODs will be cut into these shorter episodes and released throughout the week after each livestream, provided that there is enough desire for this format.
Want to play along? You'll need the world files and all of these mods (likely) in order for it to work. Download links below.

I agree that REMOVING map markers is far better than changing their color to black or something else to denote "empty/looted". The only time i have been turning a marker Black is if its a ruin of sorts with Clutter still available for gluing and collecting that i want for later on. Markers for things such as ore deposits, veg and fruits get completely removed once collected as there is no need to remember where an empty hole/field is.

I just change it to an X icon because it’s harder to see. Then again, I still have lots of clutter with the fact I denote every cave entrance, trader, clay deposit, and other point of interest I come across, so…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While i too dont like the "reach" change, it does make sense... if you think about the fact that one block is 1 meter (approx 3ft) then its bizzare as hell that we used to be able to reach over 6feet away with our max 3foot long arms all while staying stood up straight and not leaning over at the waist to reach further.. xD

I kind of liken it to either bending over and stretching, or even putting one knee up on the block to get that extra reach, especially since you had to actually hold down the movement button in that direction to get the extra reach!

I forged a full combat set of meteor iron. Plate armor, falx, and shield.
It took ages and a few iron hammers

Yikes, sounds like you did it all by hand! That's dedication!

Sure did, all those chains and plates.
Worth it though! I will be safe in the caves, not even the most corrupt saws will stop me now

Just started playing again after some break. There is a lot of crashes due to mods. Still went on to smithing for the first time. Made a saw, made a plank, pressed 'h' and game crashed. Later fell headlong into a deep cave, died and rage quit. Fun game.

Have you done any testing to see which mods are causing your issues? Usually the stack trace will give some kind of hint and sometimes even state outright that code in a particular mod is causing the issue.

@@Kurazarrh not really. it crashed at saw and when inserting dough into an oven. Also fruit trees became invisible.

I love the color of brass, more games should have brass instead of just bronze

Brass is a great color, though tin bronze can be just about as pretty. Brass doesn't make for a good tool material, though, so you wouldn't see it in games where metals mostly go to making tools.

@@Kurazarrh I would solve this adding a bit of fantasy elements and making brass a magical metal, same for gold, silver and lead, they need more uses.
