I love him but that’s simply not true. He sounds good but not as good. He’s 80 and it’s to be expected.
Thanks to digital technology .. especially live. I have seen him live 70 ish times and I know that, what he sounds like now is not his natural voice. His natural voice is croaky. Infact, some celebs have been to see him live and have commented that he sounds 'suspiciously' good. They know the business.
IMO, Cher and Christie Brinkley have the best plastic surgeons.

Cher overdid it, Christie looks amazing but I think a lot of it has to do with her lifestyle. She exercises, she is a clean eater and I don't think that she smokes or drinks.
One thing that no one has control over is genetics.
Some people "age more gracefully" due to the gift of their genetics.
For instance, lifestyle choices such as eating well, exercising and not smoking, drinking, or sunbathing does influence how good your skin looks as one ages.
However, due to a person's genetic make up, he or she may still tend to have more wrinkles and gray hair than an older person who hasn't maintained a healthy lifestyle.
I believe that some celebrities who have "aged gracefully" have probably done a combination of things to remain youthful looking: healthy lifestyle, exercise, well done botox, fillers and surgeries.
But that extra boost that I believe some have the benefit of (such as Christy Brinkley) to keep their youthful look is "good genes".
Our genes control the aging process: weight distribution, amount of wrinkles, how much and how early graying of the hair occurs (or the loss of hair), drooping of eye lids, sagging jowls, or double chins.
Yes, surgery can "correct" those things. But if those the things are only a slight effect of aging, it's much easier to stay youthful looking as that person ages.
He does look more natural in the latest photos. Good to see.
Barry Manilow defined the 70's and 80's for me, he is a legend! I'm pretty sure he did plastic surgeries, and it shows.
Saw him live in concert, he was absolutely fantastic. His voice is still amazing, smart guy not to have messed with the nose.

I meant nothing about plastic surgery regarding his (still gorgeous as ever) looks….The nose is such an important part of the “instrument” that is his voice!
I think he has always looked good. His choice to have work done, but it’s his beautiful heart and wonderful music that will always shine through. 😊

It doesn't really matter, I love his music but after seeing him recently on tv when I hadn't seen him for years and you can see it's obvious he has.
Actually, the last pic of him, he looks surprisingly pretty good. Looks like the cheeks deflated & he made a good choice to leave his nose alone. Do any men admit to plastic surgery? Even J. Lo would never ever admit to it . . .

Huge fan of Barry Manilow all my life. I hope he leaves the plastic surgery alone now. His voice is still like Heaven. I mourn for Steve Perry's voice. What a shame he's lost so much range he has to sing in a different key. He doesn't sound like Steve Perry anymore. We all age different. Barry take care of that golden voice.

I really don't think it matters if someone admits to having cosmetic work done or not, it is entirely up to them. What I do mind, is surgeons making fun of it. Everyone ages, it's a fact of life.

Possibly one of the reasons he never had rhinoplasty is because it can effect your singing - so he may not have wanted to risk it.
Exactly what I thought. His large nose would put him at considerable risk if he were to attempt to modify it.
That’s why Freddie Mercury never had his protruding teeth fixed, from what I’ve read. He was obviously self conscious about his smile, but he was said to be afraid that straightening his teeth would alter his distinctive voice.
Same thing with Barbra Streisand.

I heard the rumor/truth that he walked into a wall. Saw him in Vegas at Westgate, he looked like a wax figure. He appears to have cheek implants, almost chipmunk look.

jokes, even before surgery, it’s no wonder he’s insecure about his looks & felt pressured to have the work done. So what? He’s one of the most talented musicians ever & still can fill an arena with tens of thousands of people, it’s nobodies business what he does in his private life!!
When people are in the public eye, they are held to a higher standard.
Take it easy. A little too upset about someone you don’t really know. What’s insulting? Making comments that are outright lies to people who have PAID to support him for years. I am a professional makeup artist and I micro needle my face twice a month and if I could afford it, I’d do a little here and there. There’s NOTHING WRONG WITH A LITTLE MEDICAL INTERVENTION for yourself. If it makes you feel good, do it. Insulting is being out right lied to. I have never made a joke about Barry. I’ve seen him in concert 22 times. My husband has been a Local 2 stagehand since he was 17 and just retired at 65. He was working Barry’s show at United Center in Chicago and all the local crew were told by Barry’s crew, “Do not look him in the eyes, at his face or come into any contact with him at all. My husband happened to be walking out the door as Barry, his husband assistant and driver were waking in. My husband, who has worked Barry’s shows at 6 different venues in Chicago starting at “Soundstage” and up to 2019. I may be repeating myself but it was at the United Center. My husband who has seen him very up close for decades didn’t even recognize him any more. Relax, Sue.

I met Barry Manilow long ago before any of the surgery and yes, for sure, he has had work done. I'm so glad that he's settled down with that. It did make him look weird but I think that he looks great now

I think another reason why he never changed his nose is because it's so iconic that , had he changed it, he could never ever deny that he had plastic surgery.
True that! Years ago, he said that he would never have his nose done because it was such a distinctive part of his face, he was afraid that he'd ruin his career if he did it!
For sure. But you know toward the end of this video, with the more recent pictures of him, I actually think he had his nose tip raised. Not made smaller or or carved, but just the tip elevated a little so it's less droopy. Im gonna check his more recent pics, but I think the Dr might have missed this last little change.

Also both Manilow & Streisand have famous noses, so to speak. Any singer worth their salt doesn’t want to mess with any part of their anatomy that would affect their signature sound, and that much of the singer’s resonance is in the nasal cavity & structure. So no, that’s why neither of these famous singers have ever messed around with “fixing” their nose.
I never understood why people would want to erase their racial/ethnic features. Both Manilow and Streisand are Jewish and they look it. There is nothing wrong with that. It is a good thing.
Look at what “fixing” her nose did to Jennifer Grey after she did Dirty Dancing. Her acting career went downhill fast without her famous nose.

I agree totally, some of these actors, celebrities look 👀 very strange, especially after multiple surgeries. They can spoil their looks altogether.
When too much alteration is done, they don't look "like themselves" any more. I think changes around the mouth and chin, which affects the look of one's smile, is an alteration that makes celebrities look odd.
Cher is an example of that. Her teeth my be perfectly straight now, but her original, crooked teeth gave her a charming, youthful smile. She's not unrecognizable, but now her mouth and smile looks different, less of a natural beauty.
He looks like a taxidermist worked on him imo. The last pictures shows he's had a dramatic chin implant.
Awwww, the guy is nearly 80 and still performing and apparently beloved to his fans. Perhaps men from his time feel admitting to plastic surgery isn't "manly." Other than his cheeks being completely over rounded, he looks ok - fighting aging like most of us.
He is 'overfilled'. Too much filler in the cheeks. A disaster for many. Look at Nichole Kidman. Over roundered and a dismal result.

He looks good he is an artist and extremely popular...i think his personal decision to get plastic surgery was a brilliant business move and life move...the bottom line is that he is still performing live so I believe his surgeries made him look good for his age...plus he has all that energy .I am inspired by his life and energy.

He used to be such a handsome man. I hate it when some people go so far to the point where they have as much facial animation as a Filmation cartoon character.

He was a handsome man, he should have left his features alone and just worked on his skin. His features suited his face. People are looking for unattainable perfection, meanwhile they get all of this weird looking extreme plastic surgery which just makes them look totally bizarre.

A little fixture here and there is fine. But when it’s overdone and beyond recognizable, that’s not normal and becomes a problem. He obviously has dysphoria or he’s addicted to plastic surgery. Some people just don’t stop and keep going under the knife. if it’s not broken, leave it alone. He’s a talented man though.

The nasal cavity is VERY IMPORTANT to a singer. Don’t mess with that cavity in your head. He was smart in not doing so. Most good midrange singers either have bigger noses and / or heads. Resonance is key.
Just wanted to point out Barry's lack of denial in his interview when asked about plastic surgery. Very telling on its own.
Seeing Barry a few months ago it appears to me that the shape of his face looks distorted and weird as well as his jaw line. Can you explain that. He also looks like he is still used using filler, or Botox in his cheeks. So I personally feel he is not looking his age.

Call me crazy, but the most recent picture of him makes me think he finally addressed his nose. The tip is no longer drooping now. It's now lifted to a horizontal position. Not saying he had the size of his nose decreased or anything, but the tip looks noticably raised to me. Maybe I'm seeing tgings, but I wish you wouldn't take another look. Maybe people were too distracted with the mid face over fullness that they didnt notice the subtle nose change.

I stopped watching Barry after he let the doctors mangle his face like that. I don't want his face distracting me from his beautiful voice and stage personality. I wish he had gone to better doctors, or had more subtle changes made. A puffy face does not an improvement make. Him coming out did not phase me, but his changing face sure did. I have been a fan for 40 years now and no matter our opinion, in the end I just hope he is in good health and happy.

He has always been one of my favorite singers since he started. His face looks pulled tight. But I think it's because he is unable to use some of his facial muscles now, whether from the surgeries and/or Botox.
I perform on stage a little. I am a nobody. However I am just about 68 and would never ever get any work done. Would not put crap into my face. Just sunscreen and moisturizer. Maybe I look in my 50s but who cares. 😊

I have fractured my nose twice. Once when I walked into a door and again when I tripped over my feet and fell on my nose. Both times I set it myself and taped it down with surgical tape. The pain was tremendous, but only lasted about a day and then was pretty much over. However, each time I fractured it the look of my face didn’t change much and I didn’t look any different. That’s why I don’t believe it when people say they broke their nose when asked if they had face work done. Fracturing one’s nose doesn’t change the overall look of a persons face.

A severely broken nose can cause a deviated septum, the degree of which can interfere with breathing, and sleep. When fixed by an ENT, may result in an improved appearance.

Much better to grow old gracefully,it's not a crime rather than succumb to the grotesque look !it doesn't mean he would be thought any the less of if the wrinkles showed. They are a declaration of life's gained wisdom and knowledge (in most cases).
