We made a super indepth video going over ALL the changes, additions & tweaks to Awakening of the Rebellion 2.9.3 PRESS BUILD! Go check it out below! 🔹 *All AOTR 2.9.3 changes |* ruclips.net/video/nLYNJry4PdY/видео.html
The space tech progression is odd. As it doesn't actually change much. Seems like it encourages players to focus on spamming high tech lvl specific classes instead of a balanced fleet.
Although it could lead to more fleet variety and wacky builds which means even more fun and on the spot characterization (in our heads of course). Like a radier admiral who likes only corvettes and hes stationed above Tatoiine, or an admiral who like only uses capital ships going around the outer rim, or heck even an artillery admiral who won't move from Hoth and uses mostly Marauder cruisers.
maby it would be less spammy or odd if you have a cap to how many of the researches to lets say 4 so you can max out any tech and get 1 upgrade for something else, or maby you can get 1 of each and lvl 2 on 1 of them or something, the thing that seems odd is that you can undo them but idk if thats his press version
I plan on getting into Empire at war thanks to these videos. I tried playing it without mods on steam a few years ago but with the incite of these videos I plan to start playing it again especially when this update is released. Will there be another video when the update is out discussing the changes from press to public release?
@@macwelch8599 The Nebula was meant to be a hard counter to ISD 1s & 2s. Not counting fighters. The Resurgent is a Battle Cruiser with more Star Fighters and a hell of a lot more guns. They are inferior to the Nebula`s, and the First Order Starfighters aren`t really a factor against the Legend`s New Republic`s. Still. A fully charged barrage can seriously threaten, if not destroy, a Nebula. Base Delta Zero, style. I wouldn`t low ball a Resurgent so hard. It would at least put up a heck of a fight. My money is on it winning in a ship-to-ship fight. Once the fight was over, I would say the Resurgent would have about... 40-60% hp left or more. Just to give you an idea on how strongly I think the Resurgent would win. It wins if Starfighters are a factor, 10-10. If both captains are perfect and make no mistakes. If we high ball the Nebula, it can hold out against something like a Praetor 2 for a while. Anything Allegiance Star Destroyer tier (Legends) or above, and it simply loses. Which makes sense... Not counting starfighters, the Resurgent is likely "around" or much better than Legend`s Allegiance tier. Maybe... If we low ball Nebula, it was only 20% stronger than a mere ISD-1. Which means that an ISD2 would actually be more powerful when concentrating its many guns, on paper. If they both attacked a normal ISD-1. The ISD-2, and even Tector, would kill it quicker than the Nebula Star Destroyer. That doesn`t mean the ISD-2 would win against a Nebula. If we low ball, the Nebula barely beats it. Nebula has better shielding, more powerful and fewer guns, longer-range weapons, and some of the best Star Fighters in Star Wars. If it always fights with its fighters, it pretty much beats anything smaller than an SSD. Unless it fights against too many TIE Defenders and newer Legend TIE fighters. The Imperial Remnant lasted as long as it did for a reason, so they had answers to the New Class Ships. The First Order is just a worse Imperial Remnant. A shame too, I love their look. They could have been the new "Fel Empire"...
For me personally Tech progression is my favorite mechanic in EaW, so my favorite mod is Phoenix Rising with it's individual ship and ground forces tech upgrade mechanic. I would love to see PR mods tech system in other mods or at least a similar variation of it, I would play TR and AoR a lot more if they had such a system. But I know it's not for everyone so I will just keep playing PR mod lol.
Any chance that the Arquitens and Gozanti cruisers for the empire will get a buff? They are so ubiquitous in the lore but the last time I played (admittedly a while ago) they were absolutely not worth building.
@@volodymyrboitchouk The arquitens actually got slightly nerfed recently, as its been super dominating for a low tech ship. The Gozanti and all other small gunship type units got buffed quite hard, as turbolasers wont be able to target them anymore, so they are more like fighters. This makes them survive a lot longer and not die as randomly anymore, unless they are really being shot down by strike fighters/hunters etc
@@maxim-1700 gunships getting buffed dosnt help the imperial Gozanti much because it's incredibly overpriced. It costs about twice as much as a howlrunners squadron but in my experience the howlrunners are actually more durable. As to the Arquitens, it's just an artillery ship for a faction with an objectively better artillery ship at its disposal. The Vic 2 is more durable, brings squadrons, and has longer range while penetrating shields. The Arquitens has the same range as an ISD, poor maneuverability for a ship of its size, no durability, and low accuracy. In siege defense battles it's not bad, but for anything else it's disappointing. I have never been happy I brought an Arquitens along on an offensive.
As much as I love this mod, I feel like this wasn't necessary? Like this just complicates things more I feel like. Fleet specialisation? Sure but there was nothing stopping you from focusing on fighters in the old system either. You still had to choose what shipyard to build and where, and you still got to choose what to make. This just overcomplicates things and makes it tedious, I don't think it's a good change. Now you can argue the old tech was far more expensive and took longer but like it was also less of a hassle. You can just not build stuff if you don't want to.
I'm deeply grateful that the creators of mods continue to update them for this game. Crazy to think that it's been out for what, 16 years now? Such a dedicated community for one of the best Star Wars games ever made
Just ordered the executor and I'm hyped! I cant figure out how to get thrawn tho :( I have him unlocked and I can even see his profile pic to build him on coruscant but I can't click it :(((
Wouldn't this mean that to get the same ships as you used to get in 5 minutes this would now take 11 minutes to reach the old level 2 tech? So it does slow down your tech levels. Cause old tech level 1 is all three tech level 1's and now they take 4+4+3 minutes to run each. I think the AI may be able to manage better like this, so I like the idea.
That's what I'm wondering too.. All this does seems to be slowing teching up AND more importantly, dispersing it (if AI can actually handle that). No more nuking entirety of Tech in one station. Unless they plan on adding some sort of benefit/handicap system to encourage specializing in one tech, the end result still stays the same.
@@Makapaa Yes the AI can handle the tech well and i have seen the AI tech up properly compared to the live version atm. The techs dont take too long and since u can choose what u wanna tech u can get stuff from tech 2 without the other 2, like go thru tech 1-2-3 capitals then go for fighters or do something like that.
This sounds nice and all that; but have they worked on the *auto resolve* at all? Or will it continue to troll players by killing Vadar vs a Black Star trade freighter?
Don't like the new research system since I'll have to waste 6+ space slots just for research + all the shipyards I would need for it to make a balanced fleet now rather than 3 with shipyards
This may be an unpopular opinion butttt. Stellaris for PC with “Fallen Republic” mod is way better than Empire at war. And I love Empire at war!! Highly recommend the stellaris mod
I agree to an extent. For the grand strategy/space portion of it, absolutely. But sometimes I get more in the tactical/controlling my units mood, and that is where EaW shines over Fallen Republic (plus you don't have to rollback versions like Stellaris)
I love the mechanics of this mod, but I admit I'm in the minority when I say I just want to be able to trim out all the obscure ships and units just to clean up the clutter and have a tighter design that's easier to grasp at a glance. The game should be hard "because the combat/economy is complex", not because it has too many units to learn and half of them are made redundant by other units. I get having it for fan service but I really could care less if the weird carnival carousel ship with the goofy rotating guns is represented, or having to pause and read an entire Wikipedia entry of tooltips every time I see an obscure fighter to figure out what it's capable of. I don't need the Bulwark Battle Cruiser to enjoy a Star Wars strategy game. I want to see a TIE Interceptor and instantly know "That probably performs like a TIE Interceptor." I don't need to see the *Toscan Fighter* represented. Land battles need more units sure, but in space, I just want to see my vanilla ABUXY wings and my usual band of TIEs, with maybe some B listers like the Gunboat and the Defender and the Z-95.
I generally disagree, although I'll add one qualifier, the classes do need to be relatively obvious and the way they teach you about them is kinda meh, although that's more due to how EAW is. However, having a lot of space units is what makes the game colorful and interesting to watch, personally I find it very entertaining to use the camera mode and just appreciate the different craft. Also, just because a unit isn't great or seems unnecessary for the player, it is still variety when you're fighting that faction in the next game, even if the bulk cruiser is a glorified sacrifice ship :).
I would say that currently the game is hard because the combat and gameplay. The amount of content is well spread across a wide variety of ship roles. There isn’t much in the mod that is redundant, I really don’t like things being redundant, I would rather remove units is they become redundant.
Totally understand your need. I get like that sometimes when I’ve exhausted myself on a wider, more expansive EAW mod like AOTR. It provides probably the most depth in terms of gameplay than most EAW mods. But if you’re looking for something more on the smaller scale & a bit tighter. Fall of the Republic mod will do that for you instead! - Charlie
