Love your videos! I'm very interested in a re-power of my 1987 Montauk. It currently has a Johnson 110 VRO. I've always felt that this was too much power. I'm thinking very serious about the Suzuki 60 hp. It is much lighter than the Suzuki 70 or 90. (At least 50 pounds heavier than the Johnson 110) I'd be using my boat on lakes and Intracoastal. Maybe a little near shore. Are you still happy with your choice?

Patrick, thanks for the thumbs up and compliment on The Gilligan's videos with Going Overboard. Well, the answer to your question is easy---- YES! I would buy the Suzuki 60hp again, hands down. With the right prop, it has speed, it has hole shot, it has the best fuel economy I have seen. The 90hp is 100lbs heavier which is why I went 60HP.
I have had 3 men on board with lots of fishing gear, i have 2 batteries and an 18 gallon fuel tank. Lots of fun and very dependable. Do the maintenance and you will be happy year after year. That's my 2 cents. All my best and be safe out there, The Gilligan

@@alfredzentgraf2443 Hello Alfred! As you are probably aware, speed can be manipulated by the prop and max rpms...with that said, i have a good hole shot and on plane very quickly. Then with the 17ft Montauk I max my rpms at 5800...6200 is where the rev limiter kicks in. This leads to about 50 km/h or 28 Knots on a clear calm day....cruising speed for me on this boat is great at 22 knots or about 4400 rpms and the gas mileage is outstanding. Hope this answers your question....stay safe on the water, The Gilligan from Going Overboard
