My manager story. 3 years ago I had a manager that tried to make me work on the weekends that I was off I think he was the manger for the area I worked in ( I’m perfectly fine working on weekends as long as I get paid ) And if I did work the weekend He said I would get overtime but I don’t think he wanted to pay me. ( I think he disliked me for some reason ) I worked all of April I think 🤔 One day I happened to see the owner of the company and then I asked if working on weekends would give me overtime. The conversation went like this. Me: hello mr owner can I ask you something. Owner: sure what is it. Me: dose working on weekends give me overtime? Owner: yeah Me: ok I worked everyday last month and I don’t think I was paid for it. Owner: ok I’ll look into it. Apparently this happened to me and three other workers. I guess the owner asked the people that worked on the weekends to make sure we weren’t making it up and thankfully they didn’t forget about me coming in to help out. In the end I don’t know what happened to the manager but me and the other workers got paid and we were all happy. Ask me questions if you want I’ll try to answer them. If YT let’s me know
These stories remind me that I need to thank my boss for being so great. I am so fracking lucky, damn some of these stories have literally criminally bad managers/supervisors.
I’ve listened to this a few times but it reminded me of a story of a terrible boss I had once. When I was 17 and still in high school (USA), I was always obviously in school full time and I also had a job after where I’d work until about 6:30-7:30 and then another job after that where I’d work until about 10-10:30. When I started the second job I told the boss I could only work until about 10 at the latest, to which she agreed. It was an exposition center and one of the shows went on till midnight. Seeing as how I was 17 and wanted to get some sleep before school the next day, I was expecting to get off at the normal time. I got moved to a register halfway through my shift and the way it was set up, my booth was one of the last to be shut down for the night. Around 9:30 ish rolls around and the cash runner is stopping by to refill my register and I ask about me being closed soon and she told me she knew nothing about it and she’d ask the boss. I hear nothing for over an hour and keep trying to get ahold of my boss but nothing. I didn’t care about this job as it was for only some extra income plus it was a horrible place to work so I was about ready to just walk out. At one point after trying to reach out constantly, she said over the walkie talkie “someone come close Matt’s drawer because he has a bed time” in such a condescending voice it pissed me off. Mind you that every other manager and person with a radio heard it and there was also a radio at every other booth for emergencies so they all heard it too. Ik looking back it’s not as bad as other stories but I was 17, tired, angry etc. to this day she’s one of the worst managers I ever had.
They got lucky - they would have to work under a bad manager and to try to do their job while someone who doesnt understand their job criticize them. And then - to probably get the blame and get fired when the shit hits the fan.
I don't like the whole "i'm going to waste the time of people searching for a job just to get revenge on my boss" But other than that it was a nice story
eh, he probably did them a favor. they dodged a bullet by not working for bob. and if any of them were hired, they probably would have lost the job shortly after.
So I had this one boss.... *Long story incoming!* For some background I took this job working "7am-5pm" day one I show up at 7. Boss ask why I got there at 7 saying they needed me there at 6.. I showed him my paperwork and the job posting I had applied for. He said well I know you start at 7 but we really need you here at 6. Happy to have a job i started showing up at 6. A few extra hours a week is just some extra money i thought. I ended up getting promoted in only about 3 weeks to shipping. The old shipper came in at 7 and left at 5 every single day so I was very happy that this promotion would get me my promised hours back. Sadly my boss gave me no pay raise "because I was so new to the company" but promised me an $8 raise when my 1 year came around. *Remember that part* it comes back around. So I take my new position and start coming at 7. Boss ask why I'm not coming in at 6 anymore. I explain but ultimately they just "really needed me there at 6" So I went in at 6. On top of this UPS drop was contractually obligated to deliver to us before 10am but always ALWAYS delivered more so around 4 or 5 (that's when my shift ends) and I would have to stay for another 2-3 hours every single day processing the late shipments. (I understand this may happen sometimes. But every single day!?!? I asked one of my co workers who'd been there for years how can we get UPS to deliver when they are supposed to (if ups drops late we dont pay them shipping btw) that employee told me that our manager needs to call them. This happens all the time and in the past the manager would call ups and they would deliver on time for a couple of months. Start dropping late again, manger called again, start dropping on time again and around and around this cycle goes. I found out via other employees this is indeed the case and our manager really shouldve called them already because I had been putting in and extra 3-4 hours a day for months now. I spoke with my manager (he didnt like confrontation) and he said "I don't want to damage our relationship with ups by complaining and plus we dont get charged if they drop late" I tell him I understand that but I hired on to a job working 7am-5pm and pretty much never worked those hours. I worked 6am-8pm pretty much daily. He said he would see what he could (and never did anything) I dealt with this for a lot longer than I should've because I knew at the end of the year my pay was going up $8 per hour and that would make all the BS and overtime worth it. About 7 months into this job my boss tells me he needs me in at 5:30 instead of 6. (I'm starting to hate my life now and my wife is getting fed up with all this crap also adding stress to both of our at home lifes) But I do it. I start at 5:30am now. Complain about ups several more times over the next few months. Boss never does anything about it. Boss ask me to come in at 5am and I outright tell him not a chance in hell and let him know just how I feel about that crap. I still start at 5:30. My 1 year is getting close now si I start reminding my boss about my raise. He keeps saying I will get it but dances around that $8 number and never confirms it again. 2 weeks before my one year I had a sit down with him. Tell him directly to tell me what raise I'm getting in two weeks. He trys like hell to dance around it but I tell him NUMBER MAN. WHATS THE NUMBER!? This fool looks me dead in the eyes and tells me "I'm sry but our head office will only let us give a 50 cent raise per year to any employee." I am pissed. After all of this 50 cents!?!? No way in hell!! I tell him 2 weeks from today I will have an 8 dollar raise and he will have called ups to fix the daily late drop issue otherwise he can consider this right now my 2 weeks notice. He kicks his boots together looking down and says "Nah man you wouldnt leave us man. You're messing around with me man. Nah man etc" I assure him I'm very serious and write it out in a letter for him to keep. 2 weeks later to the day I tell him todays the day. Pay raise and ups call before I leave or I'm not coming back. He repeats the "nah man" boot kicking thing he did before. And I assure him I'm very serious. The day comes and goes and the manager never even spoke to me again that day (trying to avoid the issue) I left there at 5 that day with all the undone shipping sitting there drive directly to the previous job I had before this one and got rehired the second I walked in. Next day went to work there. 2 months later I get a letter in the mail from my crap employer saying I was let go for no showing..... THIS STILL MAKES ME INSANELY MAD! Anyway that's my crappy boss story. This company also gave me a free voucher for a bbq sandwich for my Christmas bonus. Putting in those hours 5:30am-7 or 8pm daily and they give me a bbq sandwich. F that place.
Awwwww, he used his sweet sweet payout to take his girlfriend on vacation and proposed to her? Omg, that was just the cherry on top of this story. That's so awesome. Best of luck to them both

I have one-I was 16 working at McDonalds. My boyfriend was built, rode a motorcycle and looked like he ate glass for lunch. I’ve always had a great work ethic and more than willing to cover, stay late, whatever was needed. One day right as lunch rush is beginning my boss, Warren, decided it would be a great time to dress me down in front of 75+ customers and all of my coworkers, for some imaginary slight or undone task. At that point I had had it with him being abusive to me. I closed my drawer clocked out and started to walk out when all but two other workers quit on the spot with me. He was left with two incompetents and himself. He followed me out demanding I come back. My boyfriend was sitting there already on his bike. He was coming for lunch. Till this day I “kind of” feel bad but Warren holding the bag-the burgers, fries, machines, demands, needs and orders was just a beautiful sight to behold. And better yet when ten other workers quit with me!! You reap what you sow, Warren!!
I should get all the comment likes, because my daughter deserves them, in fact rslash should have to give me all his subscribers because I’ve been watching him since 180k
This honestly reminds me of something that happened to an uncle of mine a few years back......He used to work at a hotel in a chain of hotels. He started out in a more average position, but his good work ethics and charming personality quickly elevated him up the ladder. Soon, he was made employee of the year and given the position of the manager in the hotel he started working at. After a year of managing that one, his higher ups told him they were planning to build a new hotel, and asked him if he wanted to manage that one. They offered to pay all of the expenses of moving to the location where the new hotel was being built, and offered him a raise if he would. Naturally, he accepted. He moved to the site, oversaw the construction of the new hotel and personally interviewed and handpicked the other people who would be working there. So, the hotel gets built, he ran it for a couple of years, practically all of the customers who stayed there gave it *very* positive reviews, stating that it was one of the best hotels in the chain, if not *the best* hotel in the chain on account of the friendly staff....Enter the problematic part of his job.....So, he gets a call from one of his higher ups.....They tell him they have a problem on their hands......One of their hotels is struggling, and close to going under. The manager of this hotel was an absolute witch, from what I understand.....Unfriendly, discourteous, and rather unhelpful towards her customers and had one of those "I could care less about their problems!" type of attitudes towards them. They wanted him to come manage that hotel, but they didn't want to fire her, though, for......reasons that are unknown to me, yet *baffle* me to this day! So, she was demoted to his assistant manager. Within a year, he had that hotel turned around. He fired all of the unhelpful staff, hired people who genuinely seemed to care about their work and got it up and running.....But the former manager just wouldn't let it go, and harbored a genuine resentment against my uncle! She filed false charges against him that resulted in him being fired, and her regaining her position as the manager of that hotel. Again, let's go over my uncle's history: Hard working, employee of the year and successful manager of not one, not two, but *three* hotels, and they fired *him* over a low-life waste of flesh who was on the verge of running the one hotel she managed into the ground! Within a few months, my uncle found another job.......and then, he got the inevitable call.......His former higher ups were calling him to *beg* him to return to his job. Apparently, the manager had fired all of the staff he had hired, rehired the former staff and the hotel was right back where it was before my uncle had turned it around.....if not worse! They told him they had finally seen her for what she was, and had let her go.....The job was his, if he wanted it. My uncle just chuckled and said "I worked for you for all those years.....I poured my heart and soul into the job, and you fired me on the word of an employee who could care less about your chain and was only in it for the money......I would be a fool to return!" He then hung up on them. Now, the karma part.......The chain was forced to close the hotel that was run into the ground by the incompetent manager a couple of months later. They were losing money hand over fist due to it. Once my uncle had called his former coworkers at the other hotels he worked in and managed to tell them what had happened to him, they were so ticked, they quit their jobs, resulting in those hotels going under. Eventually, due to poor management, the whole chain started to bleed money, forcing them to close all of their hotels.
Wonderful story with such a lovely outcome. First of all, regarding the shitty manager, the reason they didn't want to fire her, we both know very well, IF we want to be honest. She was too good with her lips; maybe with other parts of her body, as well. As for the company making stupid moves, such as firing or messing with precious staff, this is the signature of most companies. 9 out of 10 companies are run by incompetent and unsuitable individuals. Best case scenario, they are people who have some sort of business related degrees, if not worse (the amount of people starting their own business on a sector they have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about is just stupid). A business degree will teach you very well on how to work with numbers by cutting corners, not how to improve said numbers through customer satisfaction and keeping you staff happy and willing to work for you. In few words, they care about how to make money day by day, but fail miserably on seeing the bigger picture. This situation is the main reason many many companies don't last too long. The only thing that keeps them going (for as long as they go) is the money they make in a world where, for the past decades, prices for all kinds of products/services have been going up but wages down. So, friendly advice, if your workplace looks like the above, do yourself a favour: Have yourself as a priority NO MATTER WHAT. Don't overwork, don't stress, don't run like a headless chicken during the shift because a manager wants one person to do work of three, four or five. Work for what you are being paid for. In the end, if you don't take care of yourself, nobody else will. PS: I have no business background, and still can understand such things, simply by doing 1+1. Though, I don't see how business owners or directors cannot understand...

My manager story. 3 years ago
I had a manager that tried to make me work on the weekends that I was off I think he was the manger for the area I worked in ( I’m perfectly fine working on weekends as long as I get paid )
And if I did work the weekend He said I would get overtime but I don’t think he wanted to pay me. ( I think he disliked me for some reason )
I worked all of April I think 🤔
One day I happened to see the owner of the company and then I asked if working on weekends would give me overtime.
The conversation went like this.
Me: hello mr owner can I ask you something.
Owner: sure what is it.
Me: dose working on weekends give me overtime?
Owner: yeah
Me: ok I worked everyday last month and I don’t think I was paid for it.
If YT let’s me know
So he was fired I assume? Payment is federal law.
damn, he got triple reversed
Boss:Your fired
Guy:NANI?!

“He really was a nice guy” I mean obviously, 😂 they are called r/niceguys for a reason.
I feel bad for all the good candidates weeded out by the OP (in the story around the 12 min mark) 😅
They got lucky - they would have to work under a bad manager and to try to do their job while someone who doesnt understand their job criticize them. And then - to probably get the blame and get fired when the shit hits the fan.
Got fired for calling in when I was high on morphine. It wasn't a good job so I wasn't upset. Good Job r/slash
Boss: You're Fired cause of old age!
You: No U!
Boss: Uno reverse card
You: :O
Me: listening to reddit videos while cleaning.
*Starts to hear the duh*
NOOO NOT AGAIN
Boss: "You're fired." Me:"What makes you think I care?" "I was lookin' for a job when I came here, and I'll be lookin' for a job when I leave."
"I don't work there anymore. I wonder how he's doing."
No you don't, LOL
Hell yeah love your videos man keep up the awesome work

You reap what you sow, Warren!!
this video should be called"You're Fired!" "No... *Reverse uno card*"

What I thought about the title
“You’re breathtaking!” “No...YOU’RE BREATHTAKING !”
