As others have said, love this type of video where a golfer we can relate to is testing the clubs. The biggest mistake I made several years ago was selling my set of Big Berthas because I wanted something "more stylish". Have finally returned to a set of "game improvement" irons and starting to enjoy golf again as the number of rank mishits is coming down.
PETER - This is the sort of testing video that I like. A person with a similar handicap testing indoors and outdoors over a couple of weeks. That enabled E-bay to make his choice after taking into account multiple tests.
"Peter" Great to see a real golfer testing clubs instead of a pro constantly hitting high penetrating iron shots where I could barely beat their carry with my driver 😅 great stuff 👌🏻
Peter....... great to see a player taking his ego out of the game and giving an honest assessment.... honest to say his preferred shiny good looking clubs which he liked at first were not his final choice. Well done.
"Peter" Yep agree good to see an irons test where it's not about looks or distance and all the tech it's about the feel and consistency and that just what we are all looking for.
"PETER" . . . .like MY name ! I'm a "TaylorMade" guy but $1,100 for a set of irons is a bit crazy. -think about it - Arnold Palmer played AMAZING golf with what is now 60 year old equipment !
Happy Birthday Pete ( Peter) I use Callaway XRs and I went to upgrade, went for a fitting and tried different shafts and the full Callaway range, after 3hrs I walked away with my Old XRs in the bag... Some of the option went a couple of yard further but I was far more accurate with my old clubs, so keet my money in my wallet. Fitting cost £80 but I saved £800 on clubs.
Great test that. Actually very thorough and realistic too. Unlike most of the big professional reviews on RUclips. Helps that Pete's just about the nicest bloke in Manchester too mind! Great work lads, keep it up!
Peter. I’m a big fan of testing across multiple days as the swing is not always the same… and the key thing is how bad your bad shots are. What a fantastic bloke to admit that he prefers the least favourite looking clubs. I worked off data only when I bought my last set and I also didn’t want them to ‘win’ but you can’t argue with the data.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a golf club review that is more relevant to me than this! Please do more of These Liam! I have never understood why I have to listen to Pro’s who hit the ball so well and so long for their opinions on golf clubs - that means NOTHING to me! I need info off fellow mid-high handicappers!
Peter Great review for the mid-hdcp guy (that's me these days) and supports what I try to tell friends all the time. Play what suits your game, period. My irons are 26 yrs old and I still hit them better than any of the 6 sets I've had since I got these. BTW, a lot of club performance is in the shafts. Get yourself properly fitted by a clubmaker. It's worth the $$.
"Peter" belated happy birthday! I like this sort of testing, much more realistic than a pro giving you advice on clubs when we are never going to swing the same as them!
“Peter”, I’m in the market for new clubs now after promising myself a new set after getting my handicap below 20 and this was a sobering demonstration of how everything that shines isn’t always gold. No matter what the marketing sales pitch says and the price tag might suggest it’s how the clubs perform in your own hands that matter more than the looks or the name on the clubs. Great informative video and as others have said, from an honest mid handicapper, not a pro who could hit a toy set further than most of us ordinary armatures. Thank you golf mates👍🏻
'Peter'. I think this is the most informative comparison vlog that I have ever watched. I play with Callaway X18 at the moment. They are basically the same age and lofts as the Berthas. Looking to buy new shiny irons but wonder if there is any point. Thanks to eBay Pete and you for this excellent bit of work.
“Peter”. Enjoyed seeing you mates trying the 4 sets. I think its much better to try a set out on grass rather than on just a mat to get a better sense and proper fit. Cheers.
"Peter" Great to see a video of a mid handicap golfer testing clubs instead of a pro who would strike the ball consistently. Keep up the great work guys
Peter, Happy Birthday its good getting a mid to test, i have myself taken a blade this year after playing with oversize previously im of 19, and i havent noticed to much diffrence infact i would say my duffs with a blade have been better they may not look good flight wise but they still go in the genaral direction desired
"PETER" So good to see that is doesn't matter how the club looks, it's all about how they perform. I am 38 and have still got my Left handed Ping Eye 2's blue dot. Working wonders as a mid handicapper still to this day. They are like Triggers Broom.
Happy birthday Peter…..nice to have a average handicapper review. Think we all have preconceptions regarding which clubs we prefer the look of versus which clubs are best for our game. Keep them coming Liam
Peter. I always thought hitting off the mat felt weird. And I've not really got the facilities to try hitting off the the fairway, so I've always gone purely on looks.
Peter Happy Birthday m8. I got the AP2's and find them a good combo for feel and performance and they do look incredible. They took a little time to adjust to but the height issue is not a problem now.
"Peter". A great topic, used golf clubs. SAS, Simon, a fellow golf RUclipsr suggests buying used clubs because there is no appreciable difference between clubs from 5 years ago & today - especially for average golfers.
"Peter" these types of video are really helpful to the average golfer, a lot of RUclips is full of professionals reviewing clubs most of us would never get the most out of.
Peter. Great video lads. To answer your question mate, no I would not buy them based on looks only or else would have ponied up for the Cobra RF Proto 33. I buy the best looking clubs that I can hit... too bad I think I am better than I really am.
Peter - I'm a week late viewing this but I'm sure glad I did. A golfer I can relate to giving his opinion about clubs. Now that's a review worth watching.
"Peter", love watching this and the realization that forgiving clubs are really good for us mid-handicapers. I've got a set of Adams with full on hybrids for 3,4,and 5 while 6-9 are "kind of" hybrids and pw,sw are cavityback. I love them I'm not good enough to warrant a full on blade... but I am getting better :)
Peter - happy birthday by the way. Really like these tests, make it more ‘real’ and relevant to choosing clubs. So many times in the past have chosen based on looks, price and hitting from a mat in shop. Keep up the great work.
Peter,, very good trial ! Im taylormade man myself but i think ill take a look at the berthas ?very infomative well done liam and pete proper mid handicapers test ,thank you .allen
"Peter". Happy Birthday from one Peter to another. Nothing like having a golf session on your special day. Thanks for sharing your extensive knowledge.
Great review. No 135 mph club head speed with 165 mph ball speed with 2700 rpm spin rate. Real golfer hitting real shots. Nice play Peter. Happy birthday too.
Well I'm another PETER and thought the video was one of the best and most honest club comparison's I've seen. Belated happy birthday Peter. Let's hope your handicap starts to fall now you've shelled out for some new old clubs!!
PETER. Fascinating results. Just goes to show how much shelf appeal sways a lot of people. If only we could do that much testing when we buy clubs. Ha ha
At 0:46 of the video we see Pete in a 3 split screen shot testing clubs in a practice bay. So would that make it 3bay Pete? I love the nickname Ebay Pete. I also like testing clubs here and there off ebay. It's a good way to get a good club to fit a gap in your bag, without spending a fortune. And this video could be more helpful than others on RUclips done by club pros, because although Pete is a great player, he's closer to the average guy's skill level. And most of us have seen him play a lot in various scenarios on multiple golf courses. That speaks to me better than watching the pros test clubs on a simulator only. Great video idea, keep them coming.
Happy Birthday young Peter! Great video if you're in the market for some sticks, very honest and fair....just need a flux capacitor and a DeLorean to head back to the '90s to buy some Berthas 😂
I got fitted for irons. Once the pro worked out what suited me he came up with three different makes, three different prices and I had no way to make a decision. 🤦♂️ So I asked him if he had a choice, which ones would he have… that’s how I got my Taylormade irons. Very pleased. I was a mid handicapper… well into single figures now with still the same clubs. 😀
Peter - great test. I have 17 year old irons, but love the feel of them. Going to need to upgrade soon. Wish I could properly test on the course, but PGA superstore will have to do.
Happy birthday Pete! Great seeing this, just shows that buying don looks is not the way to go. I see many people buying blades with XStiff shafts, then a few months later, they’re for sale…
Peter, great video showing that all that glitters is not always gold! Most people choosing new irons would always go for looks first, all the gear and no idea! 👏
Peter, good to see a player of the average handicap level testing clubs. Even though his handicap is going out he hits it like most of us, two good one bad, two bad one 😊
Peter. I have used Ping for years and never improved my game . I’m really keen to try Callaway Big Bertha and see how much better I can score. Thanks Liam for a really great demonstration video. !! 👍👌😊
PETER. Happy Birthday Pete, got to agree about the Calloways, a lovely feel for cavity backs but I play with Nike forged blades and those Bertha's are just huge slabs behind the ball. they look terrible at Address. loving the way the tests are done. We can talk about figures all we want but it's about confidence with the club in hand. excellent stuff Golfmates!
'Peter' I'd shop by looks too. I would have picked AP2, P790, G25 then Callaway. Havent been properly fitted for any set either. Also wouldrather hit off grass than mat as the feelings not the same

Two weeks and 2 real world reviews from PETER, thanks guys most refreshing to watch. More of the same please 👍
Thanks for feedback.

Great feedback thanks
Couldn’t agree more, it’s ok watching pros hit clubs, but I’d rather see guys like Pete hit them cos he has a similar handicap to mine.
PETER

As soon as video started I said to my boy The Big Bertha would win. Not built to win a beauty contest but a great set of irons
Good shout
Peter.
Always worth a watch

Its good to see a reveiw from a proper mid handicaper, Well done ebay Pete , and well done Leam for keeping it real.
Peter, enjoyed these being tested by a proper mid handicapper. Well done with honest appraisal Pete.
Great test that. Actually very thorough and realistic too. Unlike most of the big professional reviews on RUclips. Helps that Pete's just about the nicest bloke in Manchester too mind! Great work lads, keep it up!

Peter. I had the ap2 for 716 model and loved they were a little more forgiving and felt great
Peter don't know if this is old but I'm new at golf but enjoyed watching this I wish I'd seen this before buying my clubs cheers
“Peter” This is my favorite kind of testing videos. Real world testing. Also my all time favorite golf channel. You guys are the best.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a golf club review that is more relevant to me than this!

just changed from the Callaway BB’s which I had from new loved them
Great video PETER, really enjoyed it.
Can I suggest a driver review next
Driver video was out last week 👍
There's one out at the moment
Peter, Happy Birthday its good getting a mid to test, i have myself taken a blade this year after playing with oversize previously im of 19, and i havent noticed to much diffrence infact i would say my duffs with a blade have been better they may not look good flight wise but they still go in the genaral direction desired
Peter has greatly enhanced these articles on choosing clubs, with his ability, honesty, common sense approach ... Great article Liam, thanks Peter 😊

Absolutely
Peter I've been using 2004 big berthas for 6 months. Perfect for the mid to high handicapper.
Another excellent video. Pete is very honest with his assessment and it gives an insight to how these clubs perform in the hands of a typical golfer.
Peter,
Great to see the old Callaway's back I have great memories with the Big Bertha's
Peter. I also would probably leaned towards the Big Bertha. They're offer more consistent feel and results.
Bought me some xr16 OS irons to replace my big Bertha irons and I love them
Peter, good review, just shows to keep an open mind and try things.
Peter.
Love this type of video, gents. I’m looking to replace my Ping G30’s, but I’m undecided whether to go Ping G425’s or go for an Orka fitting…
"Peter" My brother gave me a set of old big berthas when I started out a year ago! Lovely clubs! Not the prettiest but certainly gets the job done!
Peter. I always thought hitting off the mat felt weird. And I've not really got the facilities to try hitting off the the fairway, so I've always gone purely on looks.

Peter. Love watching real amateur golfers .
Peter, well done. Love to see someone who loves golf as much as me.
Great review thanks Peter. Nice to see the clubs I use doing well in a review.
Happy Birthday Peter. Keep the reviews coming!
Happy Birthday " PETER" I find it very honest of you to pick the clubs you least like the look of. Thank you..
"Peter", love watching this and the realization that forgiving clubs are really good for us mid-handicapers. Peter, great to see the old clubs work so well.
Happy birthday "Peter" - AP2s are my club of choice but my old callaway x12 big berthas still do the job as well!!
Peter - happy birthday by the way. Really like these tests, make it more ‘real’ and relevant to choosing clubs. So many times in the past have chosen based on looks, price and hitting from a mat in shop. Keep up the great work.

Happy Birthday Peter. Great to see mid handicap testing
I've been away.
Catching up on old videos.
Yes, let's have more of these. Let's have more of Fleabay Pete.
Well I'm another PETER and thought the video was one of the best and most honest club comparison's I've seen. Belated happy birthday Peter. Let's hope your handicap starts to fall now you've shelled out for some new old clubs!!
Thank you
Peter, happy birthday. I have callaway B21 irons love them and don’t hit anywhere near as far as you but I’m accurate enough to be happy.
Nice work Peter - the reality is that we golfers effect the shots more than any club!
Happy Birthday Peter . Thanks for the Honesty . I would have picked the exact same clubs by looks first ..
Hoping I'm not too late, really liking these review videos, great stuff from PETER!
Very interesting review Peter, happy birthday chum. Will you be changing your own clubs now?
Keeping his Wilsons..for now 😂
PETER. Fascinating results. Just goes to show how much shelf appeal sways a lot of people. If only we could do that much testing when we buy clubs. Ha ha
Peter is a great reviewer. Honesty is always good.

Great real world review by real world relatable golfers. Great work - thank you!
Peter good to see a range of popular clubs tested. The calloways were the cheapest too.
Love to see this type of review.
Happy Birthday young Peter! Great video if you're in the market for some sticks, very honest and fair....just need a flux capacitor and a DeLorean to head back to the '90s to buy some Berthas 😂

Great entertaining and informative test, happy belated birthday Peter.
Peter.....Happy birthday Ebay! Great idea to let people watch a mid handicapper give a real life club review! Top notch lads 👍
Absolutely
Matt your a star - really enjoyed the chatting format as well as playing golf
Peter. Happy birthday eBay!!
Peter. Happy birthday Ebay Pete. Love these comparisons and testing. Keep it up. Maybe Pete might like the Taylormade M6 irons. I love them.
Peter… that was the most balanced review I’ve seen in a long while 👍 well done fellas 👏
Peter. Good to see tests on used equipment aimed at the average golfer market.
Well done Peter, we've all gone the magpie route at least once and wished we'd made an honest choice. PERFORMANCE COUNTS.
Peter.
Great video Liam. I’m a firm believer in feel and playability off real world lies versus relying only on hitting data off a mat.
Peter. Nice review. I would have guessed Ping, Callaway, Titleist, and last Taylormade.
Peter. Another great video from Liam. No nonsense and a fair test. Enjoyed it!
Peter, happy birthday. This is one of the best golf vids Ive seen. Thanks
Peter happy birthday great to see a normal golfer testing irons great video
Happy Birthday, Peter. Love the review video. Could you please do one on drivers next?
“Peter” - Great video for mid handicappers and proof you don’t need to spend a fortune or buy brand new clubs. Love my AP2s!!
Peter. Early 2000's Big Bertha are great clubs. I had my first ace with them.
Peter, for your speed and strike pattern the callaways are definitively the club for you!!! They were a groundbreaker in their day!!
2nd favourite golf mate behind OMP is Ebay. Hope you had a top birthday Peter
'Peter'
I'd shop by looks too. I would have picked AP2, P790, G25 then Callaway. Havent been properly fitted for any set either. Also wouldrather hit off grass than mat as the feelings not the same
I had a set of them big bertha irons Peter
Absolutely loved em infact I would have them again !!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER.
HONESTY was greatly appreciated.
