Kate Bush is a genius, a true original. I loved your reaction, and look forward to more videos. Kate was the first woman to achieve a #1 song & album that was self-written (in the UK). Her first song Wuthering Heights in 1978 was such an anomaly to anything on the radio, but so brilliant that it became a hit. She is a great vocalist, songwriter, keyboardist/pianist, Fairlight CMI programmer, producer and dancer.
Kate bush was originally an art student who wrote her own music/songs and choreographed her own dances and danced in the video also. Multi talented. Released 1985
Back in the 1980's in the US, I didn't know anything about Kate's solo works. I just knew her as the woman with the beautiful voice in a few Peter Gabriel songs. The song 'Don't Give Up' with Peter and Kate is really gorgeous.
Alex Thorpe Also sang on Roy Harper's "You" and "Once" with Dave Gilmour on guitar. Plus Big Country "The Seer". Big County's bass player said it was amazing watching Kate spend 5 hours rearranging all of the vocals in the studio.
This week this song will become the most streamed song by a female artist recorded in the last century (spotify) when it overtakes Whitney Houston and will hit a billion streams on Spotify alone during June.
"Tell me we both matter don't we?" This line -and the whole song gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. She is so original and expressive. Her voice carries so much emotion and character. I think it would be impossible for anyone else to sound quite like her. And isn't that the best thing an artist could wish for?
Kate Bush is unique. You love her or you hate her. To me she is one of the greatest musicians ever and her "Hounds of love" album will be in my personal top ten list for ever.
This comment is from another reaction video to RUTH by Kate Bush that I've made 3 days ago: Quite a good and honest reaction to one of the finest artists in existence, Kate Bush, singer, composer, lyricist, dancer, director, actress, etc. Some recommendations by me: - Wuthering Heights (1978) - The Man With the Child in His Eyes (1978) - Don't Give Up (1986), Peter Gabriel feat. Sunset ff. - Wild Man (2011) - Snowed In At Wheeler Street (2011), feat. Elton John - 50 Words For Snow (2011), feat. Stephen Fry It's not easy to create such a list, this is just a little excerpt, I've probably forgotten a lot of songs and included some, that others might not include. Kate Bush is an artistic genius at many levels. She was a child prodigy who explored much regarding the 'human condition' including some taboo subject matter in her music. She choreographed her own dance, mime, music & video production. Her technical vocal skills are top tier as well as her understanding of musical mood presentation.
This whole album is astonishing, the first side is art pop bangers, the second is very experimental in the best way. For anyone who's properly interested in music and not just a foot-tapper ( no shade on foot-tappers it's just a level of enthusiasm that I'm referencing) will find it fascinating and very entertaining. You're gonna love Kate big style.
Kate Bush used as one of the first artists ever, as did Peter Gabriel (Peter Gabriel 3 and 4) and Mike Oldfield (Five Miles Out and Crises), the Fairlight CMI (Computer Music Instrument) für her record 'The Hounds of Love'. This is where all the sampling age started. By the way Kate Bush was discovered by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. He financed here first record 'The Kick Inside'. Suggestions from this record, 'Wuthering Heights' and 'The Man With the Child in His Eyes.
The three artists first using a Fairlight CMI in those days (1980+) were allegedly Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, and Stevie Wonder! Didn't know (but no surprise!), that Mike Oldfield did as well later...

I've been hearing this song on the radio every day lately as if it were brand new. I've never heard any other song that had such a resurgence after being featured in a movie or tv show. It's a great song but it baffles me how popular it has become again.
When the reviews came out for the album Hounds of Love, it was the only time I have ever seen a music journalist that was actually speechless..it went something like "o my god, this woman is a #*@king genius, o my f#*%cking god, cloudbusting o my god, and then the second half o my god Hello earth hello earth peek a boo, peek a boo...o my f#^#cking god...." That should give you an idea as to the kind of irreproachable status Kate has always had and the impact of her music upon both fans and critics.
New to your channel and a massive Kate Bush fan (since the 80s). While she isn't a large commercial success, Kate is widely regarded as one of the greatest female musical artists of all time. Not only was she ahead of her time, she composed all the music, produced, arranged, and wrote all her songs. She is also regarded as having a fantastic voice (she uses her voice like an instrument) and is also a brilliant pianist. On top of that she was a great dancer and physical artist, trained by Lindsey Kemp (who also taught David Bowie) and a gorgeous woman famed for her large mane of hair 🙂

Well, what should I tell you. You'd really explore much more from Kate. Have a closer look to "Babooshka" and "Cloud Busting" e.g. Would be nice to see your reactions to that!
Stranger Things (ST) was the vehicle/catalyst for this 1985 song's revival, but not the reason why it had such a successful revival in 2022. After all, it isn't the only old song that ST has featured, but nobody is talking about any of the others. Rather, the reason is that this 1985 song is about something which would have been very unpopular in 1985, particularly in USA, but which in 2022/2023 is the subject of a big global social engineering bandwagon, namely the issue of gender transitioning and attitudes towards transgender people. Strangely though, still nobody seems to want to publicly admit that this song has a gender transitioning theme. Rather they seem to think that somehow by liking it and promoting it, it will help their cause. That is a bit odd!
I'd love to know what people mean when they say a song is ahead of it's Time are they saying music today is so good because today's music is crap infact this sound was popular in the 80s
Kate Bush is such an excellent singer and this a very good song! But, please, don't say that your "this is from the 80s" was meant as something derogatory?
She not only wrote her songs, but she would come up with the whole video creation from choreography to costume design. She did it all!
DescendantofFools Plus she was sole producer since the previous album.
She even built her own studio that this album was recorded in, I believe.
