Yeah, I read that Terry discovered him at an open mic night hosted by David Faustino from "Married with Children". I'm guessing Eazy would have been asked to approve before the deal could go through though right?
@@AnecDope_official ... No, you’re correct. I meant no disrespect or fixing of your news piece. I know Eazy-E & Jerry needed younger ears and they used Terry Heller to go out and be that young trusted A&R. I clearly remember Eazy gave carte blanche to Terry & Jerry when it came to the basic “deal” to artists, basically holding deals until E got to hear them and decide to sign them long term. I still hear to this day, artists that were signed to holding deals on Ruthless from Eric “Eazy-E” side and other on the Jerry-Terry Heller side.
@@deanruthlessrecords Wow super interesting! Thanks for these insights. Seems like Eazy gave a lot of trust to the people he was close to and considered family. RIP - true legend!
@@AnecDope_officialYears ago David Faustino told me stories about being friends with Will, how he was the reigning battle champion at his club in LA, and how he introduced him to Eazy E.
I still own/have a few “Atban Klann aka Black Eyed Peas” Ruthless Records promotional material like a promotional CD, Cassette Tapes, & Stickers. I also have a few 12” promo LPs.
Oh that's dope! What's the best way for people who might be interested in purchasing them to contact you? I'll include the information in the description.
Man I've been listening to this track for decades and I never picked up on that! But I went back and I checked the lyrics and I think you're right! Gonna dig a little deeper and see what sparked it. 🙌
Cube's influence is huge and his writing is second to none - agreed. But I'd argue that Eazy pretty much gave birth to the gangsta rap genre by founding Ruthless and by creating a platform for Cube, NWA and others.
Ice Cube wasn’t the only one writing. He co-wrote with MC Ren and The D.O.C. None of them would exist without the plate form and the funding Ruthless Records afforded.
Eazy still managed to drop one of the hardest diss tracks of all time even without Cube. And Bone Thugs kept his label relevant even years after his passing
Very dope news piece. I love your style. Best of luck to you and your future.
Without eazy there would be no gangsta rap or reality rap
💯 he gave birth to a whole genre!
Reality rap happened without Eazy. For gangsta rap, there was Schoolly D and Ice-T before Eazy. But NWA did popularize it in the mainstream.
Helping others launch their career pays more dividends than totally focusing on your own.
A recurring theme in this series! Eazy had the game figured out early.
And FYI... Terry Heller (Jerry’s nephew) was basically an A&R for Ruthless. Terry signed Atban Klann/Black Eyed Peas along with Blood Of Abraham.

Terry Heller/Chuck Ozeas directed that music video for Atbanklan, he was a talented director.

That Atbann Klan album really is a masterpiece

Those "H2O" CD singles sell for like $50 these days.
I always I thought I had deep knowledge of Hip Hop but I didn’t know about this! Thanks
Thank you brother. Glad I can still surprise/stump you on occasion! 😎
R.I.P Eazy-E. I Miss You
Awesome
I remember on the song Falling Up it felt like they were taking shots at Cube

Amazing video make one on 2Pac next
Thank you bro! Yeah I've been looking for a story about Pac. If you have one in mind lemme know.
Ok I’m thinking about it and I will let you know
Surely Schoolly D is the Godfather of Gangsta rap?
Schooly D is the father of gangsta rap. But Eazy is the Godfather. He took it to a whole new level
Yes. Schoolly D was the influence for the birth of gangsta rap. And Ice-T took it from there.
oooooooooooohhhhhhhh yeeeeesssss!!!!
But his best creation was bone thugs in harmony
Ice Cube wrote for Eazy. So if Eazy is the Godfather of Gangsta what does that make Ice Cube?
