For those of you wondering where you can find the entire painting created in the video, you can find it on my Twitter here:
    twitter.com/TheRoyalSkies/status/1624308989835059200
My little bro and I created it for everyone watching this video. It's called "2%" In reference to the concept that if you change your life every day by 2%, by the end of 10 days, those changes could add up to some thousand % difference.
My personal interpretation of the piece is this represents life as it stands, what it was, and what it could be given the decisions you make. The left side of the picture represents the paths that most of us consider very safe investments. These are straight forward benefits that come with security, planning, and patience. It's idealistically the most productive and healthy path we all know we should go down. But, the right side represents the the more unknown. This side is more mysterious, more risky, more dangerous, but also potentially more rewarding and exciting. A true adventure and journey you don't know what to expect from, where both the worst and best possible things lie together - As long as you have time, these paths are always available to you. So, which path will you choose? What do you really want? 1 year from now, what kind of person would you want to be? What kind of past could you look back on and smile proudly for?
As for me personally, I have 2 main goals this year. My first goal is to double the positive value this channel has for the people who watch it. Not necessarily for it to double in size, but for it to be more meaningful and have a positive impact for the people we have already. My Second goal is to finally get in shape and obtain "Shreded ABS" - Though, I have no idea how to do so, so if anyone out there is good with fitness, I'm all open to recommendations, diet, and workout routines lol -
Anyway, I hope this video has helped share a new perspective on something that I think we all often take for granted. Let me know down below what your goals are or what you hope to achieve when 2024 comes around, I'd love to hear what you guys are up to and hope to accomplish :)

I respect the grind for shredded abs lol😂 but yeah man I used to be a soldier I just recently left the US army and finally trying to make my dream games smash like game with crazy anime fights and as close as I can to guilty gear art style (but I’m starting to think that’s a bit ambitious) and then a rogue like action game with like running a shop in the background again anime feeling and looking but I have run into a huge issue of having no idea how to set up my character models or armor and stuff to go to unreal engine 4 or 5 to be ready to make customization options that you normally see in rpgs if you or anybody with the knowledge could maybe make a tutorial on customization for characters or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it I realize the comment is long so if you have read it until the end I really really appreciate it

They had a recent abs video of: /watch?v=1jjNjn8B9Qw As for my goals though, is to help a friend finish his book, write my own book, and then get into doing more vr game development. I have other things I would like to do but not sure if there will be enough time in the year to get it done. Cheers!

A great message, unexpected, but very well needed and came at a great time!
First I'd like to recommend @scooby1961 former bodybuilder and his channel, saving us a lot of time much like yours, but fitness oriented. If you feel like you have no clue about where and how to start, his playlist "Getting Started" has got the best advice for a beginning health enthusiast. As you progress you can check out other of his playlists/ videos.
It may seem like I am paid to promote his channel but, this man changed my life. And whenever friends or family show some interest in fitness, I make sure to send them his way.
If his channel is a bit overwhelming and it seems like too much, the main advice i'd give is: Watch out for "Fad/meme" diets, unnecessary (sometimes even toxic, so read the ingredients ) supplements, your liver will thank you. Most can be achieved the natural way, calorie counting (tedious but well worth it), cardio (nothing too crazy to begin with) and most important; Consistency, the key to everything.
Hope that saves you some time, even if a few seconds!
As for my goals this year, I have 3 main ones. First one is to move abroad by the end of 2023 ( or the beginning of 2024), could be somewhere in asia, the middle east, europe or south america.
Second goal is to keep on improving my art and my skills with animation, modeling and programming/making games with unreal engine, in order to provide and give back to the industry that has seen me grow and has helped me in the toughest times. This would come in the form of entertaining my subscribers with more and better videos, creating (scary) games that will entertain people the same way I did with the lights off, late at night hahaha.
Third goal is to keep on improving my japanese and french to the point where I can speak it as fluent as my english and spanish. Oh and get back into shredded-mode, since I put some weight on!
Thanks again for the video, this one specifically, but all the other ones as well. The countless ones talking about blender, substance painter and more. Saved me a lot of time researching and have got me closer to my dreams and goals!
Good luck on achieving your goals as well!

Here are some questions that might help you with your goals:
1a. What are some high-demand/low-supply skills you are aware of?
1b. What are some major pain points you notice in your production?
-1c. Do you need a minion?-
2a. What are you getting, consequently, as a result of "Shredded Abs?"
      -2b. Or Not 2B?-
2c. Is there something you want first, that results in "Shredded Abs?"
      My goals: ...

I started using Blender at my previous work, I was doing 2D environment illustrations and I started to incorporate Blender to my workflow because I was burnt out and my morale was low, and Blender sparked a new interest in me. I had never touched 3D before and then I realized I found a new passion.
Then I started playing VRChat, I was having (and still have) so much fun customizing my own avatar and that timing matched perfectly with you posting the Unity tutorials. Those tutorials motivated me on keep learning more and more. I lost the count of how many times I searched your channel for information, for both Unity and Blender. This is the first place I come to when I need info on how to do something on either software.
After that, I started selling 3D assets to be used in VRChat and other Unity-based VR social games. I started to make enough money that I could leave my previous job and do this full time, and this is all mostly thanks to you and this channel, which helped me on my journey from finding a new passion (3D) to becoming self employed working on Blender and Unity full time. Thank you.
My goal is to keep releasing better and better content so people can enjoy and also take better care of my health since spend most hours of the day sitting down.

My goal and dream is to become a game developer. I've already been learning blender for 7 months, and already made several characters for my game, I started learning how to create music, and I'm planing to learn coding/programming unity. Once I finish this school year, I'll go to university, where I'll focus on learning animation, programming, art, game development, etc. And hopefully couple of years, or decades from now, I'll finally have my own finished game that I can be proud of, and that will bring other people fun and enjoyment.
I've been watching you for only a couple of months, but your videos truly help me, and I can't thank you enough, for what you do for me and other people. So thank you so much!
I hope I can achieve my goal one day, and I hope other people achieve theirs as well! :)

Short term: Actually start making some money with my 3D.
Long term (end of year): Become someone who can confidently say "I'm a good 3D artist"
Recently I got some very good reasons to start grinding 3D more than I used to. Was fired from my job. So now it's on me to start doing the right things, so that the path ahead of me won't also be trash but an awesome dragon. I want an awesome dragon in the future, because dragons are just absolutely the best.

Man... I’ve been spending so much time lurking around videos like yours and Brackeys' on YT and talking about my dreams instead of making any effort to pursue them. (sigh)
Sure, I've honed the individual skills I need for what I want to do, but I’ve mostly just been wasting my bricks of time. I suppose that comes with realizing my mental health and my connections are more important than reaching my dreams, but... I’m about to reach a very big moment in my life, and I’ve come to terms with the fact that I don’t have a plan to reach any of my goals.

After giving up on 2d animation I was quite upset. I felt like I didn't have much meaning, no purpose till my friend told me to give 3d a try. I already knew a little but was going to struggle with rigging but then I found your channel. it’s been 3/4 years since then and now I'm in my 2nd year of uni getting As and A*s in 3d currently doing a project that is completely out of my comfort zone but pushing though and doing it well. I even got a hobby of music creation.
What do I want to be able to do in 2024? Well after watching this video it is making me want to learn 2d again. It’ll help with my 3d work and also will be me coming full circle and tackling the beast that made me feel useless all those years ago.

The amount of content i consume on a daily bases be it tutorials, movies or anything in video format is insane, and we are plagued by algorythms that rely on engagment, wasting exactly that valuable resource, time, ive probably a couple months of time by doing this, and by the end of my life i might have even accumulated a few years.

    1. Studying as efficiently as possible until the acceptance exams, hopefully getting in engineering school in September.
    2. Stop scrolling aimlessly on the internet, as this is not really helping me feel better, quite the opposite. (Though I still like to find some hidden pearls of inspiration)
    3. Do at least one, maybe two complete art projects, because I don’t want to loose those skills while I study.
    4. This one is unrealistic so I won’t do it, but I would like to make my own little videogame.

The part you mention where you spent your personal time up front so others don't have to pay the same cost resonates in so many areas of life. Being a parent, you share your experiences so your kid can grow at a faster pace than you ever were able to, being a mentor/trainer, you spent years developing skills so you could pass that on to the mentee to save them time, improve safety/quality of life. And being a fellow youtuber that does tutorials, I completely understand working on a specific use case for days and then spending time to document/record/edit and post to a channel free to others. This information and experiences we share are priceless, because like you said, that took chunks of our time(in return a part of our life) that we will never get back, so I personally appreciate anyone who is willing to share that slice of time to help better the future for others.
I always thought this channel was a great resource and often recommend your content to other aspiring 3D artists (artists, devs in general).
Keep up the great work, and just so you know, this person greatly appreciates the work that you do.

Over time i came to enjoy animation, this skill along with the knowledge that comes with it gives me hope for the future. Unfortunately however, i received a wrist injury early on in my journey, and for 3 year now, i have been using the pain as an excuse to not put real effort behind my work. I realized only a few weeks ago that my wrist wasn't going to get better by itself and that i should do whatever I can with what I have, even though I may not be as effective as others. Currently i can only work for a max of 3 hours a day before the pain becomes unbearable. So my goal is to rehab my wrist into a state where I can work for twice as long without feeling pain.

I know this might sound stupid but...
You could also train yourself to use your other hand. It'll be awkward, uncomfortable, possibly even mentally & emotionally painful (forcing yourself to accept the change & struggle through)...
But learning to use your non dominant hand as effectively as the other, is just like training any other skill.
In all honesty, it's something you've ALREADY learned, a skill you mastered, once before...
That's how you acquired a dominant hand to begin with.
It'll be rough at first but...
      You could do it again...
Brick a path toward a future where EITHER HAND is capable of laying more bricks!

Tendon tears don’t always heal without surgery but with a year of physical therapy sleeping in arm brace, then to wrist cast, I was able to heal my hand without surgery. Consider x-rays to see if broken if not, ultrasound+physical therapy for nerve damage and minor tendon tears; major tendon tears choice between surgery or seeing how much minor tendon brace treatment can heal. 🐧🐉

I want to add some stuff to make you feel less stressed about time. Just live in the present. Don't live in the past AND don't live in the future as well. You can think about them okay, learn from the past and plan stuff in the future that you would like to do, no problem in that. But essentially you need to live in the moment. Even when you think about the past you do it NOW and whatever future you may wish for it is shaped by your actions NOW. If you give up now, the future you will 100% be influcenced by it.
Don't stress about the work tomorrow or in 2 months, focus on the tasks you have to today or even now! And only use the past as a tool to learn from, don't live in it ... and with that logic you will never feel regret or stess again. Because if there is anything in your life that you really can not change at all ... then you just have to accpet it. But lets be honest that is really rare in in a first world country. Don't give up and keep grinding and thank you Royal Skies for them crazy kick ass tutorials!

I have minimal texturing skills so this is also something that I wish to grow this year (Substance Painter cannot run on my PC). I have many more things to learn but for this year I want to be able to look at my work and say "This is good, good enough to compete with other ROBLOX modelers" There are thousands of ROBLOX modelers but I hope I can persevere enough to get my name recognized in the community even if it's a small number of people. Thanks for this inspiring and awesome video RoyalSkies.
2 dreams that I've had for quite a while is to publish my first game (I've done a bunch of relatively good prototypes, but never went all the way to publication) and to get to an intermediate level of Japanese. I've been studying this language for the past 5 years on and off, but I am certain if I spent more time on than off I would have achieved my goal by now. Anyway, I've started to restructure my day a few weeks ago and now I am finding the time to work on my master thesis full time, spend my evenings working on my indie game every day and learn Japanese early morning and during commute. I just need to keep it up.
The way you put it, that I can decide today what my life will be in 365 days is very realistic and beautiful in some sense.
Thank you again for this awesome video and all your content, you're a gift to this world.
Though I have no advice on how to get the "Shreded ABS" DLC, I wish you all the best on your journey to get them ;)

I have plenty of time. What I lack is money - more money than I can be reasonably expected to save given the time and circumstances I find myself in - in order to fund my dream of building a video game project. When I tell people about it, reactions range from "that sounds cool" to "shut up and take my money!" but sadly there's never any actual source of funding.

im looking to start 3d (anything at this point) animations and modelling as of recent but the hardest part ive come across is doing things that make one feel unique. I agree with this whole video, and i dont want to end in a default path. Its a sad ending ive seen for a great amount of people, and life is already full of tireless hardships to want to live a simple life. Watching these kinds of inspirational speeches always lights a small fire in me, and it always seems like im in a rut until i hear something like this. I'm talking about what Ray Kurzweil and Terence McKenna think the internet will become in a few decades. I think I'm helping make that come true everyday, we all are. Working on 3D stuff gives me that peace and hope and I try to teach as many of my friends that want to learn. It's made a lot easier with videos like yours.

some people would say ive already learned how to do that, but i dont fully agree with them. i want to make better videos. i want to tell more interesting stories than surface level things. if the story has characters i want them to feel real.
its still on my to-do list to go through a majority of your videos because the ones ive seen so far are so useful and im sure the rest of them are infinitely helpful and its going to let me get the blender side of things exactly how i want to. i want characters, i want worlds. i want everything, and i know i can get there with enough time.

Been spending a few years making this episodic series project I wanna get off the ground that I originally wanted to make a game out of. But since time is limited, I felt it would be better I started off with making a series instead, early RWBY being my biggest source of inspiration. I wrote up about 2 seasons worth of scripts (roughly 440 pages and counting) and started modeling some of the main characters and even the first scene's props but...man it takes a lot of time just doing it alone. That doesn't even include finding committing voice actors or special effects. If there's anything I want to spend my time doing this year, it's getting the main characters modeled up and animating that first scene. It's small, but at least I'd be happy with myself knowing I never stopped moving towards my dreams.

Wow, this video really hit a spot, almost made me cry lol. Thank you so much for all the effort you put intro everything you do, I hope you can achieve all of your goals and even do better than you expected.
    Suggestion for you workout routine:
I've always struggled with exercise. Every time I tried to establish a routine it never worked. All of my progress would be undone in an instant. I always thought it was because I was doing something wrong. The only mistake I made was stopping. I got tunnel-versioned by my goal of becoming shredded. It's fine to have a goal, but it's the last thing you should focus on. You should instead try to work on the core of your personality. Instead of saying: "I want to be jacked" or "I will exercise 5 times a week", say: "I am a person who likes exercise and I try my best to exercise as often as I can".
I no longer claim I'll be buff in a year. Now I claim I'm a person who exercises every day. Even if I only do a single pushup, it still counts. The most important thing is not to give up. It's extremely important to build up a good habit. Even if you plank for 20 seconds every day, thinking it'll get you nowhere, keep going. Don't drop that habit, just because you feel like you are getting nowhere. Trust the process. One day you'll find yourself saying: maybe I can do 5 more seconds. One day you'll feel like doing some pushups as well.
Now, you might not get abs in a year doing this, but you'll change yourself into a person who can stick to a routine and who CAN get abs.
I see you as a very hard working person. I already know you understand that your actions today dictate who you'll become in the future. Just make sure not to beat yourself up about not getting abs in a year. Please, don't forget to praise yourself for sticking to good habits, even if you didn't do a lot.
Thank you for teaching me Blender btw. I become a sub after a single video, because I just couldn't believe the incredible value you could bring us in such a short format.
I'm sorry if this text was too long or repetitive or boring, I'm not really a writer and English isn't my first language.

I believe we can gain more time. Some paths are longer then others. A path of health and fitness can extend ones life, or at least give them more time to be able to do other things. There are those at 60 that are in shape as the average 20 year old and there are 20 year olds in the shape of a average 60 year old. One can spend 20mins to 40mins a day for 3 days a week in exercising and gain years more of a productive life. The bit of time per day spend as such is exponential.

  • @Dryym
    @Dryym Год назад +2

Honestly? Most of my usage of my time is to make the world better in some way than it was before I touched it. Objectively, Nothing has meaning. The universe will continue longer than there are humans to remember any impact I make, And then the universe itself will die. Where some would find despair from this, I find liberation. I don't need to be beholden to any destiny or any meaning that I don't make for myself. One of my favourite quotes is from the TV show Angel. "If nothing we do matters, Then all that matters is what we do." Because I am free to make my own meaning, All that matters to me is that I try my hardest to make the world a little bit better just by being in it. Whether that be by making someone happy, Making art, Or by actively fighting against those who seek to do harm or who have harmful ideals.
I can't say I am always 100% happy with my usage of time. It doesn't help that I seem to be fundamentally incapable of perceiving time the same way as everyone else has. If today were to be my last day, I can't say I wouldn't be disappointed or existentially terrified. Especially with the whole agnosticism thing. But more than anything I would just be upset, Not because I think I haven't lived a good life, Or because I have wasted my time. I would be upset that I couldn't continue to do more to help some people's lives be just that little bit better than they were before.
It's late as I type this. So I will end with this. This video honestly helped me quite a bit at the moment. Recently I have been suffering from the illness that is pondering the inherently illogical nature of existence too much. And I can't say that this has cured that. But it gave some small solace. I'm honestly only typing this comment because I know you'll be reading it. So, Thank you. I hope that reading this gives you some small amount of happiness.

    • @TheRoyalSkies
      @TheRoyalSkies  Год назад

I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and honest comment, and I really enjoyed reading it. I pray you'll long outlive and heal from the illness in time, and in the meanwhile I truly hope you find some place of peace in existence as well. I've thought about existence quite a bit too, I'll probably never really understand it's true nature, but I know in the grand scheme of the universe, I wont exist for very long. And, because of that, I have this short moment of time called life to explore, experience, and maybe make some friends a long the way.
I know your agnostic and all, but just know I think it's cool you exist, and I really wish you the best in maybe creating something meaningful to you and possible to other while we share time together on this reality - Please stay healthy, and know that you're always welcome here on my channel, and as always hope you have a Fantastic Day :)

@@TheRoyalSkies Thanks for the reply. It means a lot. I won't draw out this reply into a whole thing since while I believe you when you say that you enjoyed and appreciated this comment, I don't want to monopolize your time.
I'll basically leave it at this. You don't need to worry about me. Everything is temporary. Even bad things. I've been through worse and made it out. Also, For the record, I'm an agnostic theist. If you were avoiding saying something deeper in order to respect my beliefs, I truthfully don't mind. Be it atheistic, Or theistic. As long as someone isn't using their spiritual beliefs (or lack thereof), To harm others, Or to police people's beliefs, We're chill.
Lastly, If for whatever reason you *do* decide that you have the time to continue this conversation, I would be happy to, Though probably not in a youtube comments section.

I'm revisisting it not because I remembered it, but because I can't find the tutorial where you show us how to setup the "Floor bone" or "Main Rig Control Bone placed in between the feet that looks like a ring on the ground" (I think it was in the first character tutorial you made for the Vanguard Knights character).
All that to say: I'm moving right now, currently have a very slow job that never has work and am looking to find something before I move in a few weeks... andfast. I am constantly tired and hungry day in and out. I've completely cut off interacting with most people except my family and have been living like this for almost a year. Yet, every single day I'm pushed by passion to make the game II want with no comprimises make a stream that is everything I want it to be, and use my talents... but I'm wastng time to do so at the expense of security, happiness, and self care. Something has to give and I need to be the one to say "This isn't the way to go, let's try it another way".

What would the menu look like, what options would lead where? If you have the plan for it, seeing where AI tech is going, you might be able to create it if things like ChatGPT get installed directly into Unreal after a few years. Don't throw away your ideas, just keep them close, and as the tools get better, wait for the right time or method to see if you'll be able to bring pieces of it to life one at a time. I am trying to re-convince myself to believe in the process that is required to build these bridges to the life I want because each time I lay my bricks of time i'm heavily get discoureged to not put another brick leading to this path because of an altercation in our daily lives in this universe, Money issues, Laziness, uncomitment, each time I dont do what is required of me I know damn well that I am automatically laying my time bricks to the 'Default life' and what is scaring me and what im trying to break free from is my fritening contempt of continuing the default path and not laying down bricks to the future I want because of my serious lack of belief, I dont have any memoriable evidence from my paassed to back up and solidify my hope in laying down each time brick to the paths I want to achieve. the only thing thats keeping me gooing currently is not giving up on my dreams and Jesus. I want to be able to create my very own massive apocolyptic harem of anime waifu figurine statues that has the same quality as figurines from good smile company and Freeing, Max factory and so fourth, I want to collect my favourite old school cars like the Lexus sc 300, Mazda RX-7 FC and D and modify the hell out of them, become a great chef, traveling out doors, fishing, getting a loving wife and kids getting right with my relationship with Jesus, big ass house, a pack of Huskies and Golden labrador retrievers a huge fish tank and most importantly that 6 pack.
