    As a consumer, I am more angry at the Public Utility Commission more than PGE. PGE can not raise rate without the approval of the PUC. PUC’s job is to look after the consumer, instead they sleep with PGE .

      I'd go one further and say PG&E shouldn't even exist as a privately owned, for-profit corporation. Should be seized and divided up into smaller government utilities and/or co-ops.

    Ever wonder why PG&E's CEO has a yearly 14 million dollar compensation package? Every wonder why PG&E runs commercial adds telling us all what a great job they're doing? Ever wonder why, when you're the only game in town, you use the customers money to fund those commercials then turn around and ask the CPUC to raise the rate of those same customers? Ever wonder why PG&E "donated" over $800,000 to governor Newsom and his wives "documentary" company? Ever wonder why the CPUC (appointed positions by the governor) keeps on approving all PG&E's rate increases? Ever wonder why there is so much corruption in this state?

  • @Mapqwerry

    PG&E is a mass murderer. We pay 30 to 40% above the national average. Want to know why everything here is so expensive? Because energy costs are inflationary. Its management is subpar. Investment banking failures from the Ivy League who go into utility management because it is less competitive. Why should we pay for the greed of an organization who failed to do maintenance and caused the San Bruno and the Wildfire Disasters? At one point, the head of Engineering wasn’t even an engineer. It was some loser MBA who cut costs left and right leading to those catastrophes. The company tried to be the next GE and invest in solar and wind instead of providing reliable and safe service at a reasonable cost. Somehow, rate payers are on the hook for their piss poor management and the bad advice of McKinsey. And Newsom and the corrupt CPUC are in the company’s pocket. Joy.

    Maybe consumers forget that PGE was bankrupt from wildfire lawsuits. PGE has no capital
    prior bankruptcy, the customer always pays. Deal made by Newsom, PUC and PGE;
    1) PGE had to do some flips or 2) California would take PGE over as a socialist state operated utility.
    (Imagine silicone valley tech powered by a socialist state operated utility controlled by legislature)
    PGE is now doing the flips including grid upgrades, tree/shrub cutting, rate hikes and paying less
    for homeowner solar electric. Buckle up for PUC approved electric utilities billed like progressive
    taxes based on income. It's good Robin Hood progressives taking again from rich and
    middle class to "fairly" give to poor. Of course that coming utility bill will also be state taxed,
    so a sneaking state way to raise income taxes thru your utility bill. Let them
    be clear why they press you to use electric power for everything... you ain't seen nothing yet baby !

    Meanwhile PG&E has spent how much on stock buybacks? Couldn't find a number but usually its hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars yearly, then complain rate hikes are needed to keep the business running. If they fail again your tax dollars are there to bail them out again

    I don't understand this. I live by myself in a 1200 square-foot home I grew up in Minnesota I do not use the heat hardly at all maybe once a week twice a week in the winter I keep all the lights off I dry my clothes on a line and somehow my electricity bill is still hovering around 200 bucks a month it doesn't make any sense my subsidizing somebody else on my blockmy bill should be under $100 for how little electricity I actually use

    No, theyre not doing a lot of work. I worked for PGE on the undergrounding project and they are overpriced (no competetive bids) and inefficient.

    This is why I'm converting my house to pure electric and installed a large solar array. Later I'll add batteries and possibly a wind turbine and these suckers will see nearly zero money from me forever.

    We need those rate increases to help to pay PG&E CEO Patricia Pope's $50+ *million* in annual compensation. If the CEO takes in that much, imagine the rest of the executive team's total compensation.
