PGE gave Gavin Newsom and his wife ('s charity that pays her salary) over $1M - why do you think prices will go down? Since Gavin Newsom took office, PGE price went up over 250%
Fuck the demonRat party .
aka they voted for this
Insanity is when you keep doing the same thing and expect different results. We should be protesting at PG&E head quarters and in front of the governors house! Enough is enough!!
I wish people would stop quote it’s literally not that in the dictionary
Suggest protest in Sacramento, that is where the crazy is centered.
Yet Europe yet had their rates jacked and open boarders for two decades. Protesting achieved nothing..
@@Wakeen510 It's a saying, not a definition.

You all realize we're picking up the tab for their lawsuit from the fires, right? This is what happens when big companies become so big they take over politics. Our government needs a major overhaul, right the eff now.
Who else is going to pay? The money has to come from some where. Electricity and gas infrastructure isnt free nothing is free. Its inflation. they also give low income people a break on their bills. Guess how they make up for that loss, they raise every one else's bill.
People have been saying for several years now they want the lines buried. That was until they found out they are the ones who will pay for it. All because of mismanagement in forests because tree "huggers" don't want ANY trees or brush cut. They want to have a wooden house surrounded by lots of trees. It’s insane, went from 100’s to 350’s. I got a bill of $500 one time, so upsetting!
be thankful it's been a warm winter in California. Last winter the cold was so brutal and the state's war on fossil fuels resulted in shortages. It is likely next winter will be extremly cold again with the return of La Nina. Next winter could see $1-2k/month energy bills for most households.

But you keep voting democrats and Newsom you have a serious disconnect from reality

Next they are going to be bitching and raising rates because everyone is turning their heat off and they aren't making any money. Really pisses me off.

Its federal and state mandate from the un agenda 2030
No. These policies are part of deregulation. California needs to go back to regulation of utilities.
@@celebrityrogThe main part of deregulation that is screwing over customers of PG&E is where PG&E has to purchase the extra electricity that they need to service their customers at the spot rate. Whereas the government-owned utility can make long-term contracts for purchase of said power.

Electricity is expensive in California not because of solar but because of deferred grid maintenance for the last 20+ years.
It's even worse than that. The whole ""renewable" every scam is to renew the investors bank accounts for the panels and batteries they invest in. Notice how LED light bulbs don't even last as long as the old incandescents? The PG&E Spokesman forgot to add: "We are also committed to raising our CEO's salary back to over $50 million again and increasing shareholder value on the back of our customers."
Over and over PG&E and other utilities get away with robbing ratepayers to pay shareholders.
We should direct the emotions to the entity that approves and allows these rate increases. That entity for Gas, Electricity (Power), and Water is the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). If the CPUC says no then the utilities can't do increases. But the CPUC almost alwaus says yes to it all or to a significant amount of the rate increase requests. Ex CPUC leadership often moves on to be leadership of these utilities. I bet there are even ex utility workers that work at the CPUC.

I am not a californian, but out of curiousity, I compared the 2017 electricity udage to the 2022 usage in Los Angeles County. 20673 million-kilowatt-hours were used in 2017, and 23255 million kilowatt hours in 2022. Basically, 2600 million kilowatt hours have been addes to the electrical grid burden in just 5 years. PG&E is probably stretched too thin, and hence needs to raise rates to effectively cut back on demand. Higher pricing will cut usage and return it more closely to 2017 levels. Even if the CEO and their 50 million dollars were used to subsidize Los Angeles county, it wouldn't provide a dent in pricing.
I'd say a small growth in population plus more electrical demands (electric cars, more electrical appliances replacing natural gas) have caused the increase. Crazy how expensive power is there.
@@jake1110 But that's the thing. If you look online the population hasn't growed from 2017 to 2022 in Los Angeles County.

Can you add in just *some* discussion of the cost of energy per Therm for gas and per kWh for electricity? It's like a long segment on gasoline costs where you refuse to talk about the cost per gallon and focus exclusively on the cost to fill up a car. Both matter and part of why PG&E keeps getting away with huge increases is that nobody knows or talks about the unit cost of energy. Just add in that basic info and this will be a lot more useful.
And to top it all off, they will tack on a new fee on basic service costs based on your income. Time to get the pitchforks out & hit the streets.
I bet you that PGE will report all time records profit and the CEO will get hundreds of millions in compensation. Pretty soon only the rich can afford to heat or cool our house. We will go back on burning wood to cook and heat our house as the future shows we cannot afford to be connected to PG&E.
What’s the point of freedom if it comes with a huge cost. How can we live if we are being enslaved to these prices.
